Extra-Profesh: Today's Woman in Plum Corduroy and Pink

Another week, and this one's full of life and work busy stuff. My goal is to dress Extra-Profesh for my office outfits - I have people to impress who perhaps would not get my usual wackitude.
Pink and burgundy for me is fairly staid - only two colours!

  • Top - Culture; last seen here in February for Pink Shirt Day
  • Corduroy dress - Today's Woman, vintage 70s, consignment; purchased here for $46.95
  • Shoes - Tudor Fiske, Fluevog; last worn here with turquoises in March
  • Coat (below)  - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last seen here in March

I loved the plummy shade of the corduroy dress, and it was a dream to wear.
The full lining - right down to the cuffs in the sleeves and right to the hem! - is an amazing detail.

I layered my pink mesh tee under it for coverage and stayed away from heavy jewelry.
It's not a terribly exciting outfit, but it was appropriate for my day.

I showed my colleague Raj the label. "I'm Today's Woman!" I proclaimed to her.
The corduroy was extra soft and very soothing. The pocket also held my work phone so that's a win.

Outerwear - gloomy skies again.
I brought my own blossom pink with the Fuzzy Flamingo.

  • Scarf - Missoni for Target, consignment
  • Leather gloves - consignment

I also missed taking the picture of my accoutrements - I laid them out, looked at them...and then did NOT take a photo. D'oh!

The stuff:
These shoes are getting lots of love from me lately - they are very comfy, but the toes are reacting poorly to actual use, with a bit of scuffing.

Silvery bling:
The belt isn't the same shade of pink as the shoes but close enough.

  • Leather belt - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver fingerprint earrings - Daisung Kim, MoMA, thrifted
  • Silver Celtic S pendant - UK, gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1993

  1. Practical (pocket for phone, a definite win!), comfortable, professional, just right! I quite like the peek-a-boo of the pink mesh tee - just a hint of whimsy. :) Yay for all your silvery bling, especially that filigree cuff.
Here’s to a professional week of work outfits!
    Cheers, Laurie
PS Today is jury duty #3 and another dress will be worn. Thank you, because it is in large part due to your influence. :)

  3. A really good corduroy dress is so versatile. Did you feel like you were someone else in this “staid” outfit? You look very profesh, and you look gorgeous in it. I really like the pink additions.

  4. That corduroy dress looks even better when you're wearing it! What a fantastic colour! The outfit might not be up to your usual wackitude, but profesh it certainly is, and infinitely more interesting than what most people are wearing! xxx
