Another day, another outfit. I played around with this newly-purchased plaid skirt for my "first Friday" work look.
I won't keep you in suspense, it was a winner! I loved the knife pleats and the swooshiness. I did have to hold it when going up stairs, lump it into my lap when in my office chair and wrangle it in the loo, but that's all to be expected with long swooshy skirts.
- Cotton top - Atelier Delphine, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in May with some purple and black
- Shirt - Eddie Bauer, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) over a Hawaiian dress in July
- Skirt - Uniqlo C:, consignment; purchased here for $30.00
- Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in May in a shiny neutral outfit
I have a small selection of olive green neutral tops - because I always need a little bit of fall colours in my summer wardrobe - and picked this cotton one to go with the olive in the plaid of the skirt.
We woke up to rain and clouds, and much cooler temps, so I needed another layer under the top.
A plain ol' white shirt does the job.
I left the shirttails untucked to show off the stepped hem of the top. Incognito, although in the morning, I could have gone without. But then how would I do all my people-watching?
I tied this new-to-me silk scarf on to attempt to keep my hair from going all wavy from the rain. It did not work.

The stuff:
Green stone bling:
This necklace and earring set, however? Nope, not staying. I'm not sure why I bought it!
I loved the soft silk scarf, another winner.

- Stone necklace/bracelet set - thrifted; purchased here for $12.00
- Brass/jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
- Silver/green stone ring - consignment
- Earrings - thrifted, Seattle
- Metal/green stone bracelet - vintage mall
The necklace also disappeared into my shirt (it was too long to wear over the collar), and I'm not a fan of this fussy style, so off to Limbo it goes!
Very cool outfit! Unusual for summer but that makes it even more interesting! Lise

ReplyDeleteI like your approach to having some fall pieces and colors in your summer wardrobe; makes it easier during those days or weeks of transitioning, when the weather brings cooler or rainy days. Chuckling as I see mustard yellow in the lines of the skirt, which of course has me picturing it with a muted yellow top.
ReplyDeleteThe matching necklace and bracelet, no big deal to move them along especially as you have some truly wonderful chunky larger pieces of good quality and better draping. And the olive green top is so interesting; I like the cut - it elevates the appeal of the piece.
Hmm, I’m commenting on Thursday morning so perhaps today will be a Mom Day!
