Bigass Long Sweetheart Weekend Wrap-Up: Friday Bolts and Boots; Saturday Shop and Chosen Family Gathering; Sunday Brunch and PANK Errands

Welcome back, dear friends! What an amazing weekend that was! We have lots to cover, so settle in and grab a drink and a snack.

Friday was my boss' last day of work, retiring before me, how dare he? Tony's been my boss for 15 years, and I'm really going to miss him.
He told me to leave the office early and come down to the local restaurant where he and few VPs were sharing some wine. What a guy. You don't have to tell me twice!

  • Cotton cardigan - Kenzo, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) with pink and neon for Winesday in November 2025
  • Ruched sheer shirt - no label, thrifted; last seen here on New Year's Eve
  • Cotton t-shirt - Karl Lagerfeld, consignment; not tracked (I sleep in it)
  • Silk skirt - Tangerine Jill, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in December 2024 with a red bustier
  • Boots - Stuart Weitzman, consignment; last seen here in December 2025 with a water buffalo
  • Down-filled puffer (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last worn here in January

Our sweetheart colours were shades of red - I raided my sleeping t-shirt stash for this red one.
This was a nice comfy look - people loved the touches of white.

I'd hoped to take the cardigan off.
Nope, not warm enough. And I wanted the pockets anyway.

Incognito. I didn't carry the purse like this - it doesn't want to stay on my shoulder.
I ended up with it in the crook of my elbow, or else holding it by the handle and swinging it at cars as I walked to and from my haircut that evening. Being visible!

The stuff:
I did a lot of walking in these boots, and my feet were tired by the end of the night.

  • Hat - Babaton, consignment
  • Silk scarf - Elaine Gold, consignment
  • Leather gloves - Picabo, Powell River

Black bling:
When I met L 30ish years ago, it was like a lightning bolt. We were inseparable from our first date.

  • Leather/metal belt - Mudd, vintage 90s, thrifted
  • Bakelite bracelet - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Lucite/crystal bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Balsa wood earrings - consignment, Sidney
  • Silver/onyx necklace - Mexican, consignment, Powell River
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver Scandi ring - consignment
  • Silver loopy ring - consignment, Sidney

I caught Whateley in a stretch.
Hee! the tail!

Barnabas looked on.
Sleepy boy.

Some pictures of the pink blossoms out already in my neighbourhood.
Gorgeous house too.

The streetlights cast a warm glow.
The blossoms smell wonderful - they stuff me up but worth it.

On the way home.
I chatted with Mom that night (her cast is off!). and L and I played board games and listened to music after he arrived home.

On Saturday, we skipped our usual brunch due to a long weekend hangout planned for that afternoon, and instead, L and I walked down Oak Bay Ave to House of Savoy. I've had a $150 gift card since October, still unspent! Horrors!
My tired feet really needed comfy shoes, so I based my outfit around the red chunky sneakers.

  • Thermoplastic jacket - Fiorucci X Adidas, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2025 over roadkill plush
  • Long flannel duster - Nu, thrifted; first worn here in July 2025
  • Platinum Blonde 1986 tour shirt - not tracked, consignment
  • Leather skirt - Cynthia Steffe, consignment, Seattle; last seen here in September 2025 with black boots and blazer
  • Sneakers - Soul Speed Duesy, Fluevog; last worn here in September 2025 with a tiger dress

I did bits of red in my outfit to go with the sneakers, layering my vintage tour shirt under this flannel duster.
I felt very "grunge" which is not usually a style I gravitate to.

I am done with the silver leather skirt and the flannel duster - off to Limbo they go. The skirt felt too short, and the duster doesn't feel like me at all. I do like dusters, but not this one.
I'm still highly enamoured of this Adidas X Fiorucci thermoplastic jacket, though. Keeper!

My friends loved seeing it.
Especially the "kiss" on the back.

Done up and incognito.
Another beautiful warm sunny day!

The stuff:
This purse is wonderful - it holds a lot! I filled it with two hair products the night before, and stuffed a few of my purchases in it.

  • Leather purse - Coach, thrifted
  • Charm - Fluevog
  • Silk scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Studded leather gloves - Danier Leather

Did you spot the purse charm I put on the zipper?

Minor bling:
A few easy pieces that wouldn't get in the way if I tried things on (which I did).

  • Leather cuff - Guess, thrifted
  • Leather/steel cuff - Rimanchik
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Ball earrings - vintage fair
  • Silver Celtic S pendant - gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1996

L and I both had a look around in House of Savoy - he found himself a lovely Gianfranco Ferre tie, and I found this wool and satin-lined capelet.
I love the giant anatomical heart on it!

A close-up - that's hand silk-screened.
Very me. I recognized the brand immediately (as will many of you longtime readers!).

The pale pink satin lining is so pretty. The hood is small enough that I can still see.
It's by Smoking Lily and was $75, marked down from $125 (and thank you, Emilie, for the small discount! Very kind).

I also really liked this feather clip.
Peacock colours! It's very floofy.

You could wear it as a fascinator, clipped to a lapel or affixed to a hat-band.
I'm thinking blazer lapel.

A pretty pin in the center.
It was $38 (with the small discount). It's modern, not vintage.

I spotted the ring in the case and was pleased to see it was small enough to fit my main ring fingers.
The little drapey brooch pair of the winged cross (?) and crown was cute enough for the $10 price. Won't it be fun to play with?

The ring had no marks, but it's very likely silver.
I can just faintly see a "6" etched on it - that's a size 6 ring.

Nice and chunky!
Those hammered-in designs look like the ones Bell Trading Co. used on their copper designs. This ring was $58.00 less the small discount.

Next door at Good Things, L bought himself a $10 belt buckle and added my leather boots to his bill (thank you!).
I love the brown bits with the black.

A wide calf with a higher front.
That's a very good walking heel.

The buttons have the company "JS" logo and there's a back zip for wide calves.
They're beautifully made, very good quality leather.

They're by Jose Saenz, a Spanish brand.
They run from $200-300 new, so imagine my shock to see a $32.00 price tag! Wow! That's the deal of the day.

L looked very spiffy in his skinny jeans, badass boots and tux jacket.
What a rude gesture! And on Valentine's Day too!

It was more like Pal-entine's Day, as many of our dear friends met up with us for our usual Chosen Family Long Weekend Meet-up at Christie's Pub.
Casey always does a little extra - love the playing cards in the hat-band, and the bandana "tie."

He brought long-stemmed red roses for all the ladies.
Yvonne, me and Rosanna all looking adoringly at him. "Thanks for picking up the roses as we had all planned all along," said the email from the guys afterwards, ha ha!

Me and Rosanna.
She looked lovely in sailor pants and a rose-patterned (and named) sweater, and a bigass pearly necklace.

Me, Yvonne and Greg.
I just leaaaaaaned into the picture.

L and Vero.
Rock on, you two!

Much love to all of my people!
L and I picked up some snacks on the way home and enjoyed an evening with the kittens.

Whateley was transfixed by the Deadpool credits.
"Shhhh, I'm watching!"

He's obsessed with screens lately.

While I was setting up the game, He hopped up on the table and attempted to abscond with one of the 10-sided dice.
"Ah, I wondered where you'd gotten to."

We just found that missing die! Its absence had been noted for the past few months.

After a late evening of hilarity and good times, we headed to town to have brunch. John's had a massive line-up so we went to the Ruby for a change of pace.
Then we drove around looking for printer ink and a new coffee-maker. Ugh, people. I armoured up with lots of colour.

  • PANK dress - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment; last seen here a year ago in February 2025 for the last VFF Gala
  • Boots - Vagabond Slackers, Fluevog; last worn here in January with grey and pink
  • Wool-blend coat (below) - Banana Republic, consignment; last seen here in January

I only had my jacket off while we brunched.
So pink it's PANK! I love this dress but it felt verrrry short.

Incognito.
More bright colours!

The stuff:
We found a coffee maker, and coloured ink (not black), and browsed in Bolen Books for a while.

  • Purse - Robin Ruth, thrifted
  • Silk scarf - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage, thrifted
  • Audrey pin - consignment

Pointy bling:
The other small spiky earring seems to be missing - some little kitty probably stole it!

  • Pointy bracelet - Jenny Bird, consignment
  • Silver/gold bracelet - JPL, vintage fair
  • Loopy silver ring - consignment, Sidney
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted
  • Long earring - Alexis Bittar, consignment
  • Small earring - Glee

I had company that night.
"Perhaps you'd like to put some more jewelry out for me to borrow."

Borrow? Not likely! I am still looking for my little black wooden cat pin...

Barnabas came by for a flop.
"I'm a sea lion!"

You do kind of look like one, Barnabas.

And there we go, my friends! L and I spent Monday hiding from the world and doing nothing...such a luxury. Wishing you all a happy Family Day, whether your family is human or four-legged.

Thank you so much for being here.

  1. Yay! Your mom’s cast is already off!

Fantastic outfits as always for the various festivities, and I am proud to say that I recognized the capelet as Smoking Lily even before the reveal.
