Mom-Day With Brian, Kittens and Beacon Hill Park in Brights, and a Wee Shop

Hello, my friends! Welcome back to Mom-Day! 

Mom's brother Brian was visiting from Melbourne, so he drove Mom to my house where we all hung out with the kittens, before going to Beacon Hill Park for a walk, followed by lunch at Christie's Pub. Mom and I last visited Beacon Hill Park back here in March 2025, and we all did this together back here in October 2024.

I was craving colour, and my eyes landed on this yellow blouse with the big sleeves. 

All this colour felt so good. 

• Vest - Zara, consignment; last seen here in April in a similar looking outfit, same tee
• Cotton blouse - Zara, thrifted; last worn here in July 2025 under my cow dress
• JJ Wilde tee - tour merch, not tracked
• Silk-blend skirt - Akris, thrifted; last seen here almost exactly a year ago in May 2025 for a Mom-Day at Swan Lake (same tee and boots!)
• Boots - Doc Martens; last worn here in February, with primary colours

I liked how a tee looked over my other big floofy-sleeved blouse, so I grabbed one that would go with this bright yellow.

I laughed when I looked back - it's the same tee...which I've also worn with this skirt...and these boots. 

Nothing's new but it's a new combination - I really liked the orange vest with it. 

I carried my sunglasses in the pocket and took it off when we had lunch. 

Wee! I feel bright! 

This was the perfect outfit for walking around. 

The stuff:

One minute my new cat pin that Yvonne got me in Tofino! was there - and the next it was gone!

I searched high and low (very low), but no sign of it. 

"I am Angry Cat!"

And then, when I was removing my purse contents, I heard a noise in the living room.

And there it was, being batted around by Barnabas (I suspect Whateley stole it, as he's always jumping up on this table).

Kittens on the prowl in the morning. 

Well, ONE of them is prowling. The other is...melting? 

Mom and Brian arrived to much excitement. 

Play time! 

Each had a toy and played "Fishing for Cats."

Looks like you've caught a big one, Brian! 

Mom dangled feathers at Whateley. 

He leapt around and swatted. 

But he was distracted by Barnabas' fun. 

All this playing is exhausting. 

And then, there was much panic! We are on Full Spider Alert! 

Whateley looked for ways to get it, including pawing at the frames to see if they would support him. Thank goodness he gave up. 

Boys, we have to go now! 

Please do not destroy anything while I'm gone! (They like to knock the paper bins over).

Mom and I have never been here in May - it was quite different. 

So much of that verdant yellowy green. 

Summer greens are more saturated. 

People in the distance feeding ducks. 

Don't feed them! 

Peacocks were strutting around everywhere. 

They have no fear of people. 

Looking back. 

Another day of Cloud Drama. 

We were disappointed that we'd hit the Flower Bed Changeover for summer growth. These beds will all be full of pre-grown flowers in a day, ready for the US long weekend (we are a tourist town). 

The peacocks got right up and personal, supervising all of it.

We headed down to the pond with the heron nests. 

There were Canada geese everywhere. 

Goslings! They're cute when they're young...

See the duck? There were plenty of mallards, but no ducklings.

Mom and Brian settled on a bench once we reached this lake, and I walked a bit farther to see if there were any turtles. 

There were! 

I counted sixteen.

We all gasped as a bald eagle flew overhead with a squirrel in its clutches! 

Dragonflies hovered.

We all liked this sign on the bench. 

Aw!

Herons flapped over us. 

Heading for their nests in those trees in the middle. 

Another one. 

It's nothing like that time we had dozens of them. 

We decided to keep going and cross the bridge.

There are inviting benches everywhere.

Those apartments are up for redevelopment. Ugh. 

This duck just barged in front of me. 

Hey! Out of the way, duck! 

We walked under the heron tree, and chatted with some folks from Georgia. 

The nests look like snarls of hair. See the heron in the upper right?

Just strutting along, minding his own business. 

Move along, sir. 

Such pretty birds.

I see Mom in her pink leather coat! 

We had a lovely lunch at Christie's, Brian's treat - thank you! 

So good to see you again! Mom, I always love seeing you - I love you! 

And then I walked home, stopping in at Pocket for a look around. And LOOK: 

I gasped, and showed Annie my "Post-It" dress (seen here for New Year's). But this skirt's a rainbow! Wow!

A spare button for the waist. This is polyester/spandex. 

It is fully-lined. 

And it's by Tangerine Jill, of course. 

I was happy with $42.00. I am so excited to wear it! 

And now, my friends, time to sign off for the weekend. 

As soon as I got up, Barnabas took my seat. 

Those eyes are full of mischief.
