Welcome back, my friends! It was a fun-filled jam-packed weekend so let's get to it so I can go chill with L and the kittens.
This is my Friday office outfit, a mix of things I love and things...I did not.
I finally pulled out this lime green skirt that I picked up last month at the vintage fair.
- Adidas jacket - men's, consignment; last worn here in January for a Mom-Day at home
- T-shirt (hidden) - Cynthia Rowley, thrifted; last worn here in September 2025 with purple and wallpaper
- Skirt - Johnny Was, vintage fair; purchased here for $20.00
- Sneakers - Findlay, consignment; last seen here at the mall in April
I am not keeping it. I don't like the length, the shape or the colour.
Maybe if it were a big swooshy tulle skirt.
Ah, well, I'm sure I'll sell it to a friend! It's lovely, very soft - it's 100% cotton! It's just not me.
I was reminded how much I like the jacket after wearing it all day. The stuff:
Green bling:
- Silk scarf - Gustav Klimt, consignment, Powell River
- Shovel brooch - vintage, Mom's, but I've had it since the 70s
- Frog brooch - thrifted
- Two-piece crown brooch - consignment
My ring is back! Thanks for finding it, Mom!
- Necklace - Mom's, vintage 70s
- Glass bangle - thrifted
- Hinged eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
- Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
- Gold-tone and malachite ring - consignment
- Silver/malachite ring - thrifted
- Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment, Vancouver
More pictures of our Deck Cats.
"Quiet, I am watching that crow."
I have a feeling Whateley vs. the Crows is going to be A Thing.
They're always near each other.
We met up at Christie's (Grace says hi, Mom!) for brunch, followed by a visit to Good Things Consignment Vintage, House of Savoy (Ariana had also won a gift card as party of the auction lot), finishing up at Turnabout, and then a much-needed sweet treat and drink at Ottavio Bakery many hours later.
It was another gorgeous warm day, so I dressed in light layers that would be easy for trying things on. I might be introducing Ariana to "new to her" stores, but I'm certainly going to be on the lookout for treasures for myself!
- Men's vest - Indochino, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in March with my Raf pants and chunky sneakers
- Mesh top - Mexx, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in October under a corduroy duster
- Eames chair tee, thrifted - not tracked
- Skirt - GP & J Baker X H&M, consignment; last worn here in December 2025 with cowgirl accessories
- Sneakers - Steve Madden, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in July 2025 for brunch
I layered a long-sleeved mesh shirt under my Eames chair tee, for sun coverage and for warmth.
"I like you."
I had company for all of my pictures!
The vest added a bit of visual interest, plus pockets (but I didn't use any of them - it's still nice to know you have options!).
"I'm stretchy!"
The skirt is a woven honeycomb pattern with silver sparkly thread outlining each hexagon.
Incognito and switching to my awesome Upgrade white purse. My old Roots one (this one) began to degrade along the strap, so it's gone to the $10 table in my Limbo sale.
"I'm so happyyyyy!"
It was a wonderful shopping purse: a big back pocket for my phone, lots of room inside, didn't swing around annoyingly. Plus that fringe!
Barnabas' preferred method of looking at the world.
The stuff:
These sneakers were excellent for a full day of shopping. I walked to Christie's and then walked home from Turnabout (with groceries and snacks). After all that shopping, my feet were TIRED by the end of the day.

- Purse - no label, vintage 80s, thrifted
- Public Enemy pin - consignment, Powell River
- Star pin - consignment
- F-This/F-That pin - free, Fluevog store
Mixed bling:
I'm running the gamut for vintage here: the earrings are the most modern (5 years max) and the glass stone bracelet is 1920s.
- Chain/leather bracelet - Jenny Bird, consignment
- Kilt pin - Mom's, vintage 50s
- Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
- Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
- Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
- Nu-wite/glass bracelet - R&G Co., vintage 1920s, vintage mall
- Earrings - Chan Luu, consignment
Me and Ariana, on our way to Turnabout after a big splurge at House of Savoy.
We had a blast - Ariana knows what she likes and what works for her. House of Savoy kindly looked up her (forgotten) gift card in their system so that she could use it. Such service. We laughed, chatted with other shoppers, doled out compliments to each other and customers, and talked clothes and life. We started at Good Things, as it's excellent for housewares, sometimes clothes, but it's great for jewelry. I nearly always find something intriguing for a good price.
I love the mid-century shape. The black pod is wood, as is the small black bead. I'm pretty sure that the metal is steel.

Aarikka is the brand of my (still missing. last worn here) wee wooden cat brooch - how cool to find another piece of it!
This was only $18.00. Their pins run from $65-75 new.

Although I didn't buy anything at House of Savoy for myself, I did introduce Ariana to the wonderful world of tulle skirts. She bought one...and I found one at Turnabout!
It is too big in the waist, but that just means more tulle, right? It's lined, then a plain layer of black netting, then the printed tulle on top.

It's abstract roses in black, grey, red/orange/coral, and I spy a wee bit of green in there too.
This will go with a lot in my closet. Oh no, another tulle skirt!

It's by Molly Bracken, and it has a lovely sparkly waistband, which I took in with a large safety pin on each side.
Lesser quality skirts on their site start at $85.00 - this was marked down to $35.00.
Ariana loved the menswear section at Turnabout and bought three shirts for her husband. I always check the menswear section for L too - and myself! The vest I was wearing was from there!
I love the pumpkin orange of this boxy sweatshirt, and look at that awesome pattern. Grobund is a Danish brand, and they seem to have a thing for bugs on their clothes.
Organic cotton, nice!
Organic cotton, nice!
It's called the Melvin sweat, and it retails for 399 Kroner, which is $59 CAD.
I paid $25.00 for it (menswear is way cheaper than women's, so unfair!).

This was my gasp-worthy treasure.
That + on the sleeve is a branding thing.
I can't resist a cool jacket. This is a dark indigo stretch denim, with two front chest pockets, very long sleeves, and a square-sided peplum.
A kick pleat in the back for extra flair.
A button and a +. Sure.
You can see the nice denim there.
[PLU++]?
I think that indigo would dye all my clothes baby blue.
It looks like this brand is based in Cyprus? That's interesting. This company is called Pluslavie, spelled [PLU++].
The internets tells me it's a German label, and seems to only be sold in boutiques. I spotted a jacket for $740.00 and it wasn't this exciting! The coolest thing I discovered is that the + on the arm is meant to be moved around.
I'll be able to put it on other buttons - groovy! I paid $151.99 for this, minus $18 of cashed-in frequent shopper points, so a total of $133.99. Worth every penny! I am excited to wear it.
I arrived home to find Whateley in a stand-off with this crow.
It was giving him the business.

Whateley quaked with excitement.
Another crow joined it, and they both called Whateley every name in the book.
Barnabas went for a look.
"No crows here!"
And now, a very happy Mother's Day to my dear mom, here with me while we got to know some macaws in Hawaii in 1977.
Ever my style icon, my protector and champion, and my friend. Love you, Mom. Happy Mother's Day to all those who are a mum, still have your mum, or act in mum-like capacities yourself (pets count). And if you're none of the above, happy weekend to you! Thanks so much for being here.
