Neon Dinosaur and Crinkly Skirt

Well, will you look at that? I managed to upload my photos like I've done it for 17 years and over 4,000 posts. Go, me!

To celebrate, here's a post with pictures!
They don't do the neon jacket justice - it's really bright. And f you squint you can see the pattern on the sleeves.

  • Bomber jacket - Maison Scotch, consignment, Vancouver; first seen here in April 2024 with the same top and Monday's pants
  • Top - Le Chateau, thrifted; last worn here in May 2024 with a jungle bomber and white jeans
  • Skirt - Oska, consignment; last seen here in October 2024 with more funky neutrals
  • Boots - Kope Tiam, Coffee, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in March with my lace jeans

The arms also have a row of ruffles with beaded detail going down them. For some reason this reminds me of dinosaurs, like their "sails" or ruffles.
I wasn't very creative with my pairing - this is the same blouse/jacket mix I wore for the debut of the bomber - but hey, when you find a good combo, repeat it!

I actually put the jacket and skirt together before settling on the dark green top. The crinkly skirt is a very dark olive green.
I thought it was grey when I bought it, but when I'm outside it looks dark khaki green. I've slotted it in the green section of my "rainbow" of skirts to make sure I remember that.

I wore the jacket zipped up like this for the day.
The jacket will probably last a few years with me, but the skirt is a thing of beauty.

I love that crinkle texture, and it billowed when I walked around the office.
It's a piece I have been keeping out all year round, and is a really excellent basic. I first wore it for travel, as it doesn't wrinkle at all (and how would you even know?).

With just the jacket, which I took off after a brisk walk to work and many flights of stairs.
BIRD! A little bird was in the Garry Oak tree outside the den window.

Incognito. I was chilly in the morning.
But the walk home was lovely, with sun and a light breeze.

The stuff:
I realized as I was editing my photos that I totally should have worn my green leather 80s boots with the neon bomber.

  • Silk scarf - Smoking Lily, 1996

Matchy bling:
I did remember that I skipped most of the jewelry the last time I wore the bomber/top and regretted it - I piled it on this time.

  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Eelskin bangle - fake Gucci (Gookey!), Italy, gift from Mom & Dad, 80s
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Orange plastic ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Silver/green stone ring - thrifted
  • Earrings - consignment
  • Gold-plated pewter necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L

There won't be a Mom-Day this week, as I need to deal with some household stuff, but I'll be back on Friday for a post before my VERY busy weekend. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Echoing the comment by Vix and adding that the outfit, without the jacket, looks lovely because it more fully highlights that beautiful skirt.
And yay for tech that is behaving. :)
Hi Helen, since I won’t “see” you this week. Here’s to a super weekend for everyone!
And, from where I sit in New York, sharing a sigh of relief on the outcome of your recent election.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I agree - it's playing a background role here, but it definitely deserves to shine on its own, Laurie.
I'm sure it was a mix of using a shortcut button I should not have and "user error" - ha! Anyway, one time in over 4,000 posts is pretty good. Not going to lose any sleep over it.
      Yes, good news!

  3. I'm relieved to read there have been no more tech issues!
As for your outfit, that skirt is an absolute delight, and the colour is just gorgeous. I'm not surprised you are keeping it out all year. The neon jacket works very well with it. Deceptively simple but definitely effective! xxx

    1. Me too, Ann! As I said to Laurie, I'm sure it was a glitchy shortcut key/user error.
      Thanks so much!

  4. Sheila you are influencing me! :) I went 2nd hand shopping on Saturday and I was constantly drawn to brighly coloured patterned satin-y bomber jackets. Which is usually totally not me. Hhhm. They were not in my size though. I love your jacket and skirt today. Rgds, Lise

    1. Oh, I love that, Lise! Thank you for letting me know! Bomber jackets can be a really fun alternative to blazers or outerwear. A nice mix of sporty and dressy, especially in bright colours and luxe fabrics.

  5. What a amazing looking skirt! And isn't it so annoying when we have tech problems. But luck it's over!
