Nineties Floral and a Big Belt

Woo, Monday! Fortunately, it was a quiet day in the office, very welcome after our whirlwind weekend.

This lovely floral 1990ish dress hadn't been worn yet.
The Closet Swap-Over is coming! But I still have a few things to wear in my closet - a bunch of dresses, skirts, even shoes.

  • Dress - Decisions, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in January 2024
  • Shoes - Chie Mihara; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2024 with culottes and a cape
  • Coat (below) - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last seen here in January

This dress is so very frou-frou, but I still love it. I remembered to wear my vintage camisole with the built-in shoulder pads, as the previous owner snipped them out.
"Are you blathering on again?"

This left the top of the dress looking saggy - it's so much better with a strong shoulder.

I love the patchwork of black, pink, peach, lavender, blue and green, and the big cabbage roses, very early 90s.
"Yes, I am a handsome shade of black."

It came with a string/bead belt, but I prefer a big one over the shirred elastic waist.

The ruffle collar goes all the way around.
It's a very twirly dress (yes, I did spin for a coworker).

Outerwear - tah-dah!
The Fuzzy Flamingo is more of a spring coat - I was a bit chilly in it.

Accoutrements:
I wore the same scarf and coat the last time I wore this dress. I am a creature of habit!

  • Scarf - Banana Republic, thrifted
  • Suede gloves - vintage, thrifted

The stuff:
Silly me, I put these "flatform" sandals up too high and out of my view in my closet! I wore them with sheer black tights (it's okay to do this now).

Fussy bling:
I love this big "guitar" buckle belt - I get a thrill remembering finding it in the thrift store for $19.99!

  • Belt - Fendi, thrifted; last see here in September 2024
  • Eelskin bird bangle - vintage, consignment
  • Eelskin bangle - fake Gucci, Italy, gift from Mom and Dad, c. 1989
  • Crystal chain bracelet - thrifted
  • Gold enamel/crystal bracelet - Lauren G. Adams, consignment
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Turquoise ring - consignment
  • Gold/crystal necklace/earrings - Plum, c. 2010

I stacked the three smaller bracelets. More!

  1. This is a beautiful floral maxi dress and I love how you styled it. Lovely brown sandals and belt. Your pair of heels reminds me of one pair I have and wear all the time. They're also platform so they're very comfy while giving me the extra height. The coat is so pretty and chic as well.

I spotted Vizzini in the background. It's reassuring knowing he's always there. :)

    1. Thank you, Ivana! Yes, I know the shoes you mean! They're such a great style, and I love the extra height without having foot pain.

Yes, our little guy is still hanging in there. He's always around.

  2. What a shame more people weren't in the office to admire that fabulous floral frock! I bet it would look amazing with some bad ass biker boots, not that i don't love the platforms.
    I see you Vizzini! xxx

    1. That's why I appreciate folks like you, Vix! It's so good to have fashion-minded people who can see the outfits. I agree, biker boots would be awesome - my studded black cowboy-ish Coach boots would be fab. Next year!
He has been dashing out into the hall, a very naughty boy, but I can't deny him.
