Brocade Bell and Pink Shoes, Sweater Fail

Squishing in a wearing of this new-to-me long bell-shaped skirt. I think I might keep it out for spring.
I paired it with a chunky cotton sweater to calm down the Fancy Skirt aspect, but the sweater failed me. Off to Limbo!

  • Cotton sweater - LL Bean, consignment; last worn here in February with red leather and brocade boots
  • Skirt - Maeve, consignment; purchased here on the weekend for $89.99 (NWT)
  • Shoes - Tudor Fiske, Fluevog; last seen here in January with gull wings and plaid
  • Pleather jacket (below) - Only, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in December 2024 for brunch

We woke up to thick fog - a real pea-souper!
It lasted till the afternoon, when it suddenly burned off and was blazing hot sun. 15 degrees!

This outfit was perfect for the chilly morning and slightly warm by the time I walked home. Typical spring!
My photobomber returns!

I loved the brocade skirt, but I wished I'd worn a jacket instead.
"Try a black and white tux everyday. You'll never go back."

Oh, well, tomorrow is another outfit.

Pockets!
The shoes with the bits of pink in the skirt made me happy.

Yup, it definitely wanted a jacket.
It was too warm to wear the jacket with it all day (even open), but this works for me.

Accoutrements:
I loved how perfectly the scarf matched the skirt.

  • Scarf - Fluevog
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
These shoes are the best puffy pink.

Bronze bling:
I took the bits of pink in the skirt and went...purple!

  • Crystal necklace/bracelet/earrings - Myka, gift from L
  • Turquoise/crystal/pearl cuff - Myka, consignment
  • Gold/turquoise ring - consignment
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

I'm taking a short break, my friends - all is good, so fret not, I will be back soon.

  1. The shoes steal my heart. Very 80s. Lise

    1. Thanks, Lise! They do have quite an 80s vibe, don't they?

  2. I have tried those sweaters before, and there’s just too much bulk. It does look lovely with the skirt. Maybe, a white shirt with a vest next time? Take care of yourself, and we’ll be here.

    1. Yes, too bulky - thick sweaters are so hard to wear when one is on the curvy side, sigh. I'll change it up with something that works better for me. Thanks, Marsha.

  3. I see you Vizzini! Great skirt but you're right about the jumper, you need something boxy to show it off properly. I'm sure with your skillz you'll find the right thing very soon.
I'm sending you some of our sunshine, that fog looks very grim.
    Enjoy your blog break! xxx

    1. Hee, he loves to hide in the corners of my pictures!
Yes, something that emphasizes the waist but isn't bulky. I'll find something better.
I would love some sunshine! Thank you!

  4. That skirt is absolutely divine (plus: pockets!), but I'm kind of hearing you on the jumper. I'm sure we'll soon get to see a brilliant spring styling of the skirt, though. Loving the shoes and the crystal necklace/bracelet/earrings set. Oh, and Vizzini's tuxedo, obviously!
    Enjoy your break! xxx

    1. I LOVE the skirt, but that jumper...nope, just not right. I am excited to do a spring styling of the skirt. Thanks so much, dear Ann!

  5. Another great purchase on that skirt! I could see where the sweater could work in another outfit, but I concur with you about this one. It too is bossy, but in a more subtle way than yesterday’s perfect “spring has sprung” pink jacket.
Love today’s pink medley, btw. Cherry Blossoms! ReaderRita

    1. Thank you, Rita! Yeah, I've had the sweater for a while, but it's just overwhelming here.

  6. After reading everyone else’s comments I’m guessing it was the bulk of the sweater that turned you off of it, because to my eye it’s a super color and I like that it is cotton. Smiling to see the new-to-you skirt styled. :-) I could see it with a top the same color as this sweater but instead of bulk it would be a thin silk or cotton tee shirt coupled with summer sandals.
Enjoy doing whatever it is you will be doing or going wherever it is you will be going!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Yes, that was it, Laurie - bulky tops really don't suit me worn just on their own. I also like that it's cotton, and the colour is perfect. I nearly wore a thinner teal sweater! I am excited to wear my pink metallic sandals with this skirt.
