Here's Friday's office outfit, built around my new neon shoes.
I think the cardigan wins the neon contest here! It's very bright.
- Neon cardigan - Forever 21, consignment; last worn here on the Day of Indolence in May 2025
- Mesh top - Mexx, thrifted; last seen here (4th outfit) in December 2025 for an evening concert
- Skirt - Zara, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in October 2025 for a shop with my besties
- Shoes - Classy Bach, Fluevog; purchased here for $179.99 in gift cards
- Leather coat (below) - Jeno de Paris, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in December 2025
I didn't take the cardigan off at all - it was surprisingly snuggly - I do always plan for that.
I love this asymmetrical green skirt with its big pleated panel, and liked the contrast of the more casual mesh top (I have a camisole layered under it). I buttoned the cardigan up before putting my trenchcoat on.
I was concerned for rain, so picked the best practical coat that went with the outfit.

More green from the Fluevog belt.
The original belt is incredibly tiny, and lives on the coat hanger - I haven't used it in years.

The stuff:
Matchy bling:
The green bracelet snagged on the cardigan a couple of times. Mental note for next time.
The shoes are fantastic - that's a very easy heel and the adjustable straps gave me a comfortable fit. I didn't wear them anywhere other than the office and at home, but I was very pleased with them. WIN! Also, T, one of the VPs who gave me a gift card for Xmas gave them the thumbs-up.
- Belt - Fluevog
- Angora beret - Parkhurst, vintage, thrifted
- Scarf - Vera, vintage 80s, Mom's
- Gloves - thrifted

- Belt - consignment
- Green stone bracelet - vintage, vintage mall
- Turquoise/silver bangle - consignment
- Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
- Fulvia Ring (aquamarine) - Wendy Brandes
- Silver/green stone ring - thrifted
- Earrings - Israeli, consignment
Missing bling:
There's the bug!
- Bug pin - Le Chateau, c. 2007
I came straight home to find the kittens batting around one of my glitter battery-operated candles, retrieved from beside the terra cotta pig (which I've had since the mid-80s).
"It was taunting me." "I'm chasing a candle!"
Friday night was the first party of the year, at pals Tony and Alison's. I'd planned on wearing my polka dot dress as outlined back here, but as the party neared, my desire to wear it waned.
By the time I got home after work, I knew I'd be changing.
I wanted maximum armour but also to really feel more like me. - Dress/tunic - Junya Watanabe, Comme Des Garcons, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in June 2025 over a jellyfish skirt for L's birthday
- Skirt - Marni, consignment; purchased here for $112.50
- Shoes - Super Fine Cardinal, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2025 with sequins galore
- Coat (below) - C&A Golden Gate Collection, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in December 2025
I decided to start with the new-to-me red skirt and find something to go with that. I kept on my tights and camisole from the day's outfit, put the skirt on, and started trying things on top.
I landed on this asymmetrical dress/tunic, which I've worn over a few different skirts previously. I positioned the hem of the skirt to have the "train" on the right side.

I also wanted to wear this Alexander McQueen scarf that L bought me for Christmas (from Turnabout). It's a massive 130cm square with a fun print, so I wanted it to be seen.
I played around with it and liked how it draped down the back.

I twisted it once in front and then flipped it backwards over my head.
I had to adjust it a few times during the evening, but I was showing it to my friends anyway. I like accessories I can play with.
Dear Casey drove L, me and Nick there and back, so we didn't need to bundle up too much.
It's been cold, grey and windy/rainy. It was warm enough to wear a cotton velvet coat with a big fluffy collar.

The stuff:
The velvet purse holds my phone perfectly.
- Purse - Lewis, vintage 50s consignment
You might have noticed my Fluevog socks in the picture above.
Just in case I needed take my shoes off. I did end up in my socks after a couple of hours as my feet grew tired from standing.
Pointy bling:
Leaned into my badass side a bit, hee hee.
- Leather, gold-plated silver necklace and cuff - Ambush "Holy Mountain" collection, 2012, consignment, Vancouver, gift from L
- Ear-balls - Dior, consignment
- Hinged gold/Lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
- Snake ring - consignment
- Amber ring - c. 1996
As promised, a couple of pictures of the McQueen scarf. The name is printed in red in the corner, there are full labels (which are very crispy, so this wasn't worn much).
I see daisies, butterflies, skulls, shells, a seahorse. There are also bugs on it. I saw nothing like this pattern online. I saw what looked like a date on one of the tags - 2001 - but according to a reputable source (Harper's Bazaar has a history of the skull scarf and its comeback happening now, link here 'cause I love) it's post-2003.
L told me how much it was, but I can't say because it was a gift, but it was under $200 with all the sale discounts. Thank you, I love it!
Whateley kept me company while I redid my make-up.
"Put the toilet paper where I can reach it."
I'm glad he's gotten over his game of knocking all my lipsticks over.
L put an awesome outfit together, all by himself - he's gotten good at styling.
The white leather jacket, patterned shirt and polka dot pants were all secondhand. The groovy shoes are Fluevog, of course. Note the giant belt buckle with an eagle and chunks of turquoise.
Our host Alison let me in on her party specialty.
Of course she is! We had a lovely array of delicious food and drinks.Everyone had a laugh at Greg and L's matching outfits.
It's the Polka Dot Boys! Nick agrees. Sorry for cutting your head off, Greg!
I laughed at this tiny sign under the table. I arrived home on Friday to a small puddle of yark (at least it was on the tiles and not the rug or carpet).
Yvonne's wearing cool booties, and Casey's Fluevogs are excellent.
Rosanna was in sequined sparkles and a giant Betsy Johnson necklace and vintage velvet trousers.
Casey and L catching up. Look at all that food!

Randall being seriously pensive.
I neglected getting a picture of me and Yvonne, and also our host Tony. Ooops!

L was thrilled to discover his favourite rum, Kraken, in the host bar.
It's no longer available in Canada (tariffs, sigh), so was a nice surprise treat for him.

After a late night, we had a sleep in before heading down to John's Place for brunch with Nick.
My NFL football team is the Carolina Panthers and they were battling to win their division in the afternoon. - Cotton mint stripe jacket - Adidas, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in September 2025 over my Kenzo tiger dress for brunch
- Cam Newton jersey - gift from L; last worn here in January 2015, the last time my team was in the playoffs!
- Skirt - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here for $14.96
- Sneakers - Converse; last seen here on New Year's Eve on L, and last on me here in November 2025
I layered an extra t-shirt under the jersey for warmth, but it was still very mild all weekend.
I liked how the Adidas mint-striped jacket toughened up the tweed skirt.
It's a menswear jacket so of course it has FOUR enormous pockets.
I covered the Adidas logo with my buttons in protest.

I like how the printed seam and Calvin Klein signature line up with the shoes and add another striped element to the outfit.
Rock on!
I added more Panthers accoutrements and team colours.
Go, Panthers! The stuff:
We missed seeing Ron and Caro at the party, so I sent them a picture of me in the toque, since it was a gift from her.

- Toque - gift from Caro
- Scarf - thrifted
- Gloves - consignment, Powell River
"Hey, my shoes," joked L. I've put the inserts back in, though - they're mine again!
Badass bling:
I found the missing cat earring that Whateley had stolen! The wooden cat brooch is still MIA.
- Belt - gift from Ruth, 2007
- Blue Devils button - junk shop
- Mancunian button - Nick's birthday favour
- Perogy cat button - Gareth Gaudin
- Studded leather cuff - c. 1998
- Leather cuff - Guess, thrifted
- Thin studded leather cuff - consignment, gift from L
- Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
- Porcelain cat earrings - Winnie Tam, Abkhazi Gardens
When we got home from brunch, we watched the game.
That's whose jersey I'm wearing - CAM! Unfortunately, we lost. Ah, well. The kittens frolicked around, happy to have us home to throw their ball.
"I see the ball!" "Barnabas, take it to the Woman."
They chased the ball around for hours until they were tired out. We played boardgames on Saturday night, and did our usual grocery run on Sunday. And now, I'm ready to rejoin my little fam for the rest of my weekend.
"I'm sleeping!"
That looks very uncomfortable, but he's a rather odd little guy.
And there you go, my friends! I hope you all had a good weekend! Thank you for being here!
