It was gloomy out, but I brought my own sunshine! Bright yellow pants!
- Fringed kimono - Forever 21, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in February as a topper for a party outfit
- Mesh top - Calvin Klein, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
- Trousers - Banana Republic, consignment; first worn here in June with a sparkly top
- Shoes - Zoomies Ishshoes, Fluevog; last seen here in May with a maxi-bomber
I immediately paired this new-to-me mesh top with these yellow trousers.
I'd been wanting to wear them again.
I fished this fringed kimono out of the Limbo bag (that lives beside my closet) last night.
Riiiight, I remember why I put it there. It's overwhelming.
I mean, I love this! Velvet, fringe and pattern!
But it just took over the outfit. Back to Limbo you go, fringy! Incognito.
I don't think I'm keeping the pants either. This high paper-bag waist isn't right on my body, and I have other pairs I like better.
The stuff:
I'm still happy with all this stuff, though! I still love these shoes (the entire heel is rubber, very squishy).
- Belt - Banana Republic, thrifted
I love the interest in this outfit- textures, patterns, movement. Something about the new mesh shirt makes me think of your koi skirt. I don’t know if they would work together as an outfit, but maybe the combo could INSPIRE a good outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Loren! There is a tiny bit of that acid-olive green colour in the top, but I wouldn't pair it with the koi skirt. I get where you're going though!
DeleteOh my, your new mesh top is just made for those sunshine yellow trousers! The necklace is perfect with it too. Hearing you on the fringed kimono, although it is fabulous in its own right. xxx
ReplyDeleteI liked the first version, and was tempted to keep the yellow pants because they matched so well (same with the necklace), but I'm really feeling like my wardrobe is getting unwieldy and needs some trimming. I have debated over the kimono multiple times since I bought it (for under $10), but ultimately, it doesn't make my heart sing, Ann.
DeleteThe mesh top is definitely a keeper and the necklace (and rest of your jewelry) pairs well with it. The same goes with the pants but I get your feelings about the paper-bag waist. I have a pair of cropped peachy-orange pants with that type of waist. I love the color yet only wear them once (if at all) a year. I have a perfect multi-colored speckled sweater that looks great with them, but with my seasonal closet change over I wonder why they remain!
ReplyDeleteI could see the mesh top with some of your fall pieces.
Cheers, Laurie
I found myself immediately wanting one of my Brutalist pendants, Laurie - this bib necklace isn't ringing my bell anymore. Yeah, I've had pieces that I kept for that one matching item - why do we do that?
DeleteI'm excited to see it with the fall closet too!
Fred often retorts, when I'm deliberating about keeping or passing along an item, that since the item is not taking up much space it's worth keeping. I, on the other hand, like to only have items in my closet that are actually worn, otherwise, what's the point. Although, to fully contradict myself ;-) and to address you question as to 'why do we do that' – for that one instance in the future when I think 'oh, wouldn't it be perfect to have such and such a piece' thus it's worth keeping that piece. So, sometimes I keep it and sometimes I pass it along. Sigh, all depends on my mood that day!
DeleteYeah, that's the type of reasoning that causes me to still have a shrug in my closet! It doesn't take up much room! Ha! I agree, it's very much mood-driven.
DeleteThat mesh top is fantastic with the trousers and I love the devore fringed top - I love it with the outfit! xxx
ReplyDeleteIn motion, it's a great fringy piece, Vix, I may have to reconsider yet again!
