Yup, complementary colours - orange and blue - always work together.
- Cobalt blazer - no label, thrifted; last seen here in July 2024 with matching shoes
- Cotton blouse - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; first worn here in July 2024 with white jeans and a jungle blazer
- Skirt - Marimekko, consignment; purchased here for $65.00

Add a black and white pattern and we are good to go.
I recommend a quick peek at this outfit (here), which is the same formula.
I loved the new-to-me Marimekko skirt - the pockets are huge! - and it was a delight to wear.
Not too long, not too full, not too stiff, not too fussy. Just right.
Ah, but that blue silk Shantung blazer! Isn't that the most amazing colour?
Incognito.
I wore this to Book Club at Mindy's after work. I didn't have the energy to change.

Without the blazer, which I took off after huffing up many flights of stairs.
I've always leaned to these rock and roll ruffles/pirate shirts, as I love how they look with jackets. I like that this has 3/4 sleeves.Incognito.

The stuff:
These shoes are so comfy. I did not walk to work in them - and I hopped a bus home so I could bring y'all this post!

Gold bling:
I think my orange magnetic clasp bangle fell off while I was closing up my desk. Ah, well, it was not high quality, and had fallen off many times during the day.

Check this out! Around 6 months ago, I noticed a squirrel dragging maple leaves into the crotch of this tree outside our dining room window. It went empty over the full winter, but those few leaves remained.
Last week, I noticed this red squirrel again and watched as she crammed the area full of leaves. Like, that is an excessive amount.
And tonight, there she was, snoozing in the leaves.
I wonder if we'll get to see baby squirrels? I'll be watching daily!
Ahh, so sweet to see the squirrel squirreled away for a snooze in her nest. Nice that you were able to capture her in a photo.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the orange bangle will show up at or in your desk tomorrow. Your outfit is fantabulous for its color and fit and style! The skirt pattern does give my eyes a bit of a cringe but that doesn’t detract from my appreciating the entire ensemble. Color! We (I!) need color to gird against the grey day and bleakness of lunacy. I don’t wear ruffles yet can appreciate them in certain situations, and this outfit is definitely one of those! And a big YES to your shoes!
Cheers, Laurie
Thank you, Laurie, sorry the skirt is doing a number on your eyes (I do love patterns like that!).
DeleteThis outfit is utterly fabulous, Sheila! I'm a big fan of an orange and blue together, and I'm swooning over your Marimekko skirt. Keeping my fingers crossed that the orange bangle shows up ...
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued about the squirrel nest, and hope we'll get to see baby squirrels soon! xxx
Aw, thank you so much, Ann!
DeleteLook at the squig!!!! So cute!!! I hope for babies too!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is so beautiful! I love the colour combo and the piano skirt is a beauty!x
I am dubious about babies, but I did see some squirrel activity this morning! Stay tuned!
DeleteAnother fabulously cheery colour combo. The skirt is all kinds of fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWe've got dreys in our garden although British squirrels building techniques look to be much messier tan their Canadian cousins! xxx
Thank you so much, Vix! I've never seen a nest like this before...very curious!
DeleteSo lovely outfit in a fab colour combo!, that skirt is gorgeous and love the tip on mixing complementaries with some black&white geometric prints. Also lovely textures and interesting shapes, that jacket is really fab!. And your shoes, obviously!
ReplyDeletebesos
Thank you!
DeleteLove the outfit! I too am a fan of orange and blue together- but add in a Marimekko piano key skirt and I’m swooning. Plus- those Fluevogssss…
ReplyDeleteAnd as an added bonus, a snoozing fuzzy squirrel- and the prospect of squirrel babies? this kinda made my day! (Squirrelkins?)
