Muppet and Bark at the Periodontist

Oh, yes, it was that time again - time to Armour Up and go get my teeth scaled. Hooray.
I know the alternative is bad, and my tech Michelle is the greatest (very gentle), and I did miss half a day of work for it, so you know, there are upsides. Like keeping all of my teeth!

  • Sweater - thrifted; purchased here for $11.95
  • Skirt - Gunex, thrifted; last seen here in October 2024 for a Mom-Day at Gorge Park
  • Boots - Official Mittwoch, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in February for brunch
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in February

Of course, I gravitated right to this giant Muppet of a sweater.
Comfort, softness, warmth.

Badass colour.
I paired it with my brown "bark" skirt - originally because I wore my Molly Bracken leopard lace-trimmed camisole under this, and I thought it would show either at the V or the bottom...

It did not show at all! Dammit!
But the sweater is a winner - zero itch, no "worms" under the arms, no downside (except that I didn't want to take it off).

Adding purple to my look for some extra pizzazz.
It was supposed to rain all day, so I was ready. I bussed to my appointment, and L picked me up afterwards.

Accoutrements:
Two old favourites - this beret and leather gloves. I've had these for...has to be over 10 years! I got the beret at My Sister's Closet and the gloves were a retail buy at the Danier store (closed in 2016).

  • Scarf - Banana Republic, thrifted
  • Wool beret - consignment
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
My colleagues admired my boots. "They match your sweater!" Well observed!

Amber bling:
And a tortoiseshell cuff.

  • Tortoiseshell bracelet - vintage, antique shop, Sidney
  • Large amber/silver bracelet - consignment
  • Small amber/silver bracelet - consignment, Powell River
  • Amber pendant - thrifted
  • Silver/amber necklace - vintage 1930s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Silver/amber pendant necklace - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Amber/silver earrings - thrifted
  • Small silver/amber ring - Past Times, 1995, gift from L
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver/amber thumb ring - consignment

And now...back to bed to sleep off the happy pill.

Your teeth score another win. :)
    Cheers, Laurie
PS I took a tip from you and dressed for my dental cleaning last week. Definitely makes a positive difference in my mood!

  2. Your outfit choices are absolutely on point, especially the Muppet sweater—such a comfy and bold pick! I love how you’ve paired it with the brown "bark" skirt and added some purple for extra flair. It’s always a win when comfort meets style, especially when you’re getting a bit of extra warmth and softness during a trip out in potentially rainy weather. Your accessories also bring a lovely touch to the outfit, particularly the amber jewelry—it adds such a nice, earthy elegance.

I hope the happy pill does its job, and you're able to rest up afterward!

  3. The orange Muppet sweater looks even better on and sounds absolutely perfect for Armouring Up. Orange and purple are a favourite combo, so: yes, yes, yes to this outfit!

  4. Scaling is now not done at many practices, but injecting antibiotics into gum line after they find out what kind of bacteria are lurking. Scaling has been proved to cause more tooth loss than thought. My daughter is a registered Hygienist, with other hooplas after don't know what all the letters mean, but she works for a special Dentist that deals with tooth loss and cleaning. She has gone to school off and on for years and was able to save my sister's teeth after scaling was causing great tooth loss. You just might check into it as I know scaling is painful.
