Mom-Day in White Jeans and a Water Buffalo

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Mom-Day! Mom had a doctor's appointment (all good) so I bused out to her house and joined her for lunch afterwards.
I wanted to wear this sweater and the weather's been so changeable, both cold and hot, so what's better than a nice breathable loose wool?

  • Wool sweater - Kensai O2 by Kensai Yamamoto, vintage 80s, consignment; last worn here in December 2025 with an acid yellow miniskirt
  • Jeans - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last seen here in July 2025 with blue Desigual and silver shoes
  • Suede shoes - Homers; last worn here in July 2025 for Wear a Rainbow to Work Day
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in February

White jeans seemed like an easy pick. The pattern on the sweater is a bird sitting on a water buffalo.
And why is there a ball right between my feet, Barnabas?

I tossed it for him and as you can see, he's brining it back for more.
Showing off the fins in the back!

Incognito.
As expected, the weather was very changeable! It was sunny, then cold, then sunny, then windy.

Done up in the morning.
And someone else has brought me the ball.

The stuff:
I liked that my yellow accessories matched the yellow stripe in the coat.

  • Purse - Julia Sanchez by Vendome, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Silk scarf - vintage, thrifted

You might have spotted my Star Trek socks in the Stair Pic.
Mom and I chatting.

Bold bling:
I had a full finger party going on!

  • Yellow cuff - thrifted
  • Bakelite cuff - vintage fair
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver/carnelian ring - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Plastic earrings - W. Germany, vintage 80s, vintage fair

It was a lovely day and I took lots of pictures.
The lilacs near the bus stop are almost ready to burst into bloom.

Our sheep farm at the end of two bus rides.
Hello, SHEEPS!

They were all hanging out under the blooming trees.
I turn my music off on this stretch.

I just listen for birds.
The robins were vocal, but I was very excited about getting the Bird of the Day!

Big old Douglas Firs.
Phew, that's a steep hill.

Past the softball fields.
See the mountains in the USA to the south?

"You matched the dandelions!" said Mom when I showed her these pictures.
I like dandelions - I have a dandelion tattoo! They have just as much right to be there as the daisies.

This path is getting greener and greener.
Mom was still waiting for the taxi to bring her home, so I took a small detour.

I want to go sit on these benches for a bit.
Listen to the birds, look at the flora and take in the gorgeous day.

Looking back.
Oh, the benches have oak leaves etched into them, how nice!

My view.
Shall we have a look at that sign?

Oh, I've seen all of these.
I once saw a ton of Stellars jays while walking home from Mom's once.

Shooting stars!
Some other little purple flowers there too.

This is my favourite blooming tree.
Isn't that the most gorgeous thing? And with the yellow tulips?

I attached Mom's new raised toilet seat for her.
I'm good at tools and figuring how things work (I also read directions well).

Then Mom and I had a toast to a job well done.
Thanks so much for having me over, Mom! I love you!

I walked over to the Camosun bus stop to get home.
A big raven was circling around.

Some pictures of the boys exploring the deck.
"I'm an acrobat!"

They both like to walk along the ledge, just like Vizzini did.

Whateley made it all the way to this end.
"I'm a fan of this telephone."

He was trying to bite the water droplets running down the windows.
"They vex me!"

Aw!

And with that, I shall leave you for the weekend, my friends. I'm going to return on Monday or Tuesday, as we have plans this weekend, so make sure you drop by! Thanks for being here!

  1. Sweet kittens! I bet it's bittersweet to see Vizzini in their antics. Love the sweater. You have such great Mom day outings.

  2. I love your kittens. They are real characters! I would love some white jeans for the summer but would always be worried about getting them dirty!

  3. Oh the bravery of those who wear white pants (or white skirts)! I had an excellent pair of white denim jeans but I hardly ever wore them and since they survived my efforts to spill food on them or sit on something grubby, they were in perfect shape for donation. I hope whoever bought them took good care of them! Do you realize that the toes of your socks match the colour of the ball that the little guys are so happy to play with? Cats do love to walk along walls, and fallen trees and such, just like little kids!

  4. That sweater is a stunner, Sheila, and I am actually coveting that 1970s yellow purse.
Glad to read that all's good with your Mom.
I enjoyed joining you on your little detour, and seeing the kittens' antics.
Bess is completely different from Phoebe in every way, but they still share some favourite spots, which is quite weird. xxx
