Weekend Wrap-Up: Bold Brunch, the Last 5-Minute Shop, and Afternoon Swapperoo

Woo, that weekend went WAY too fast, didn't it? I hope yours was full of the promise of spring, even if that's a bit of rain. We had a quiet one, with just Saturday being loaded with Things To Do.
My Saturday brunch outfit, with another wearing of my Kenzo sweatshirt and this Tibi stretchy knit skirt.

  • Cropped jacket - Adidas, consignment; last worn here in September 2025 over my JCDC jumpsuit
  • Sweatshirt - Kenzo, consignment; first seen here in November 2025 with the same boots I wore later (spoiler alert!)
  • Skirt - Tibi, consignment; last worn here in December 2025 for dinner with Tammy
  • Boots - Jyoti Powerhouse, Fluevog; last seen here in January with my Star Wars belt

Some Cloud Drama above the Castle.
We had a bright sunny afternoon, just right for another whoof of pollen to embed itself in my sinuses.

Realizing after I did the Stair Pic that I should cover the Adidas logo.
With my Colquitz Blue Devils button! That was my junior high sports team (I was not on and did not watch any Blue Devils games of any sort back then).

I wanted to wear this blue Kenzo Eiffel Tower sweatshirt again, and tried a few things before landing on this striped black and white skirt.
I hadn't worn the red cropped jacket yet this season, so I was also focused on making that work with the outfit.

I tied the jacket around my waist later in the afternoon, when I was wearing different boots.
I enjoyed being able to play around with all the pieces.

Ready for brunch!
I never wear this giant woolly scarf, but it's such a good match with all this.

The stuff:
I grabbed the white purse for contrast (and because it holds a lot inside!).

  • Leather purse - Coach, thrifted
  • Silk bow-tie - Harry Rosen by John Comfort of London, thrifted
  • Pin - thrifted
  • Scarf - thrifted

Bold bling:
Quite a "finger party."

  • Bakelite bracelet - vintage 60s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Carved faux cinnabar bangle - consignment
  • Earrings - Tania Gleave, Granville Island
  • Silver/onyx necklace - Mexican, consignment, Powell River
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/red enamel ring - consignment, Sidney
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

The Beacon Ave Thrift Shop next to John's Place was in their final markdown clearance before they move/amalgamate with another store. I did my last 5-Minute Shop there, and thanked the lovely volunteers who I've gotten to know over the years.

Everything was 75% off, with red tags 75 cents. It was a bit of a madhouse, much busier than usual, but I managed to find a few things.
I've looked at this nylon ruched skirt a few times - it's very nice quality. The ruching is secured on the sides with a covered seam.

It's by Calvin Klein and the regular price was a little steep for me (for thrift!?).
For $6.00, that's a yes.

I also realized that this denim skirt was 100% cotton and had some age on it.
I love the late 90s/early 00s ultra-low-rise and heavy sand-wash finish.

It even has a line of silicone to keep it from slipping off your hips! I spotted a Fair Trade Certified tag inside. Nice!
The brand is Wild Fable, which is a Target brand. This ended up being $4.00.

I'm a sucker for velvet and velour, and I was drawn to this rich grapey purple.
I've heard peplums are coming back!

It's from Holiday 2016.
Shipping to stores in July 2016. That's 10 years ago!

It's Banana Republic.
And was $2.25.

I was drawn to this icky greenish-celery satin blouse.
I love the ruched cuffs and collar.

It's by Conrad C, so is from the early 00s, probably from the now-gone Bay department store, which carried this line.
It had no price on it, so they charged me $5.00.

You can bet that the second I spotted this, I yanked it off the rail - MINE!!
I love a long blazer-style jacket like this, and covered in embroidered roses?? Oh. My. Gosh. The sleeves! The collar!

It's not symmetrical embroidery, but I don't care.
LOOK AT THAT.

I'm seriously swooning over here!
I took one look at it, and a plethora of pieces in my wardrobe suggested themselves - this will go with multiple skirts, pants, tops and shoes.

That's my finger finding the unopened in-seam pockets! Woo hoo!
This has zero wear on it.

I doubt it was ever worn.
It's by Nygard (horrible person, but my money went to a good cause!), and I can't tell what's going on with that tag either. $88? Off 75%? $20.00? I ended up getting it for EIGHT DOLLARS.

The only piece I'm keeping for myself is the jacket - it's amazing and I'm so excited to wear it. The others don't fit or aren't my vibe, so I'll move them along via my next Limbo sale.

A kitty interlude.
"Oh, did you want to walk here?"

Whateley had been sleeping under the covers with me in the morning and was all warm from it, so just flopped on the floor outside the bedroom, right in my way!
'Oh, did you want to pass?"

What a little monkey!

After brunch, we did our weekly grocery shop, and then got ready to head back to town to meet up with our Chosen Family at The Commons to celebrate Cat's February birthday (just a bit late!).
L getting ready. I swapped out the heels for walkin' boots, and added some warmer accoutrements.

  • Boots - Original Sabado, Fluevog; last worn here in December 2025 with a swooshy dress

The stuff:
I was glad of these - the wind was chilly, although it was a sunny afternoon.

  • Hat - M'sieu Andre, thrifted
  • Gloves - thrifted

My awesome people.
From left: Justin, L, Randall, Vero, Cat and me. Yvonne was at home, waffling about coming out, feeling a little tired.

Caro hugging L and Randall.
My dear people.

Vero, Caro and Ali.
Aw, my wonderful people, I love you all so much.

Yvonne's here!
So glad you made it, honey.

The full crew (Ross was home sick).
From left: Caro, Ronnie, Justin, L, Randall, Chris, Ali, Cat, Vero, Yvonne and me.

A blurry pic of the core Winesday women:
Caro in front, with Yvonne, me, Vero, Ali and Cat.

Our patient server Eddie took a bunch of pics of us. Caro caught me by surprise by crouching down in front of me.
So I put my hand on her head! Hilarity ensued.

Vero, Cat, Yvonne and me.
We hung out for a few hours, having drinks, food and enjoying each other's company.

My people fill my cup.
Blurry, but full of feeling! Ronnie's tongue out, Chris taking a bow.

And then one for just me and Caro.
Thanks for all the pics, honey!

A selfie on the way home of me and L.
Rock on!

Our little boys were happy to see us.
The box is an endless source of fascination. I cut a window/door in it, making it even more exciting.

Whateley and Barnabas giving good poses.
Such lovely boys!

And there you are, my friends! The walk to town in the sun wrecked me, as I inhaled a fresh batch of pollen. I've been taking meds all weekend to unstuff myself, but as L will attest, I have been making a lot of gross noises. We spent most of Sunday watching Oscar red carpet and the show - so fun!

I am ever so grateful to have you here - thank you! Sending you all good vibes and hugs!

  1. Good to see you out and about and I like how the outfit morphed with the change of boots and the blue gloves. The scarf is rather splendid. You did well to find a jacket you absolutely love at such a bargain price. I like the two cat ornaments in front of your mirror!
