Last Skants and New Linen

I am in preparations for this weekend's Limbo Closet Sale (6 months has flown by, hasn't it?), I am taking a very Hard Look at some of the items in my closet.
On the chopping block in this outfit are my skants (skirt + pants), which I rescued as Regret-Me-Nots in the last clothing sort in February.

  • Linen blazer - H&M, thrifted; purchased here for $11.00
  • Silk/cashmere top - Etcetera, thrifted; first seen here in January with a fish scale skirt
  • Skants - handmade, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) for brunch in February
  • Shoes - Trippen, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in June for a grocery shop

And they are...not staying with me.
Since I last wore them, I've found two denim maxi skirts (this one and this one), both of which I prefer, quality-wise, and like better on me...and just looking at them makes me want to wear them both again! That tells me that, cool as my skants are, they are not for me.

The new-to-me black linen blazer is the big winner in this outfit. I still can't believe it's H&M - I mean, it's old, but still, this is good quality.
It was a pleasure to wear, and the pockets (which had not been opened!) were big enough to carry my phone and keys.

I picked a contrasting colour to show off the lace insert on the back.
Let me get that scarf out of the way for you.

The silk scarf is attached to the silk/cashmere top with buttons. I had the jacket off briefly in the morning - I am always sweaty from the walk and from hoofing it up the stairs, many flights!
The pink top is also moving to Limbo - it's destined for the Free pile due to a snag in the front (I believe from Vizzini's claws, the legacy lives on!).

Incognito and done up.
I do love a fitted blazer. It looks good this way, but I wore it open all day.

The stuff:
I loved wearing my Trippen shoes with socks - it's the most comfortable they've ever been. I need to keep them out for tights weather in the fall.

Bold bling:
The beaded necklace-as-bracelet was...fine. I am not feeling the candy-ish look of it, and it's just not my vibe, so it'll be up for sale as well.

  • Lobster brooch - Bermuda, Mom's
  • Necklace worn as bracelet - Zsiska, thrifted; purchased here for $8.00
  • Lucite/silver cuff - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted

Every outfits needs a lobster.

  1. I’m right there with you on the skants! Best parts of this outfit are the shoes and blazer - the shoes because they look comfortable and the blazer because of the lace insert and the fact that it is fitted. The vibrancy of the pink top (yay for matching socks :)) is delightful (especially on a day that isn’t sunny) but I’d actually like it better minus the attached scarf. I appreciate that you have revolving closet contents; definitely makes for more sartorial opportunities, and that’s the fun if it!
    Cheers, Laurie
