Paisley and Pink Silks, and Touches of Turquoise

I felt very thoroughly spring-y in this turquoise and pink mix, and the colours had good reactions from my coworkers.
The skirt is new-to-me, recently thrifted. It is GORGEOUS.

  • Silk blend sweater - Etro, thrifted; first worn here in December 2024 with a sweater layered under it
  • Silk skirt - Robin Sinkler, vintage 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $16.95
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2024 with a mélange of colour for a Mom-Day in Sidney
  • Leather jacket (below) - Maison Rabih Kayrouz, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in August 2024

I paired it with this very thin silk-blend Etro sweater - yes, it's a knit! - which is tucked into the high waist of the skirt.
I wore a camisole under the sweater and liked this wide V neckline.

I added the Fluevog chain belt, toughening things up nicely.
Of course, that led me to throw touches of turquoise everywhere in my accessories.

I did purple glasses to pull out the hues in the sweater. But I do have turquoise glasses!
Ginormous skirt pockets. I carried my work phone around in one all day.

The skirt was really lovely to wear, but did wrinkle like mad.
I marveled at the construction and the soft shantung silk. It's very good quality.

Incognito on the way to work.
Locked and loaded - I love this butter-soft leather jacket.

On the way home.
The sun feels so good, doesn't it?

Accoutrements:
The scarf is mulberry silk, very thick and soft.

  • Silk scarf - Fluevog
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
Old faithful shoes. I still get comments on them, even after 13 years and probably close to 75 wearings.

Turquoise bling:
I liked how the scarab ring went with the paisley.

  • Silver/turquoise pendant - Karen's
  • Crystal heart bracelet - Juicy Couture, consignment
  • Blue bangle - thrifted
  • Silver/turquoise ring - Glee
  • Scarab ring - Heidi Daus, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Silver/turquoise earrings - Mexican, consignment

Mom-Day tomorrow! There will be flowers!

  1. Love the locked and loaded look on the way to work. The jacket gives it edge, as does the belt as you noted. Such a good mix of Office and Edge. I think purple specs were a good choice. Your turquoise jewellery collection and copper collection are very enviable. Rgds, Lise

  3. It wouldn't have occurred to me to combine pink and turquoise, but it's a winner!
The wrinkling skirt would drive me mad, but those ginormous pockets would definitely make up for it. And oh my, that leather jacket is fabulous! xxx

    1. I love them together - thanks, Ann! I know, I was less enamoured of the wrinkles, but the pockets make up for it! The jacket is a treasure!

  4. Hey Sheila, I just wanted to reach out. I'm behind on reading your substack (life such as it is). I'm so sorry to hear about Vizzini. He was such a good little guy. He will be much missed.

  5. What a beautiful mix of colors and textures! The turquoise and pink combination is striking, and the thought you put into each accessory really elevates the whole look. It's lovely how you've incorporated thrifted and consignment pieces in such an elegant way. Your attention to detail, like pairing turquoise accessories with the purple glasses, shows a real mastery of styling. The silk skirt sounds divine, even if it does wrinkle a bit—it's the kind of fabric that makes the slight imperfection worthwhile. Looks like a perfect outfit to celebrate both the season and your sense of style!

  6. A lovely outfit from head to toe, including jewelry, accoutrements and outer wear! There is something special about a silk skirt that fits just right and, in this case, the added bonus is the fabulous color!
Fred said I was channeling you all during my month of jury duty - dresses, colorful pants, jewelry, shoes - all my favorite, fun and snazzy pieces of clothing that have collectively now been worn. I must say, I felt strong, vibrant, satisfied and spiffy! In pre-Sheila days my outfits likely would have been jeans every session. Thank you 🙏 for years of sartorial (and other) inspiration and guidance. 🤗
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thanks so much, Laurie! I do love silk skirts, although this type of skirt will probably be eliminated mostly from my future retirement wardrobe. :)
I love hearing that you broke out all that colour and jewelry for your jury duty! It really does make a huge impact on how we feel. Good for you! Proud of you!

  7. I love turquoise and pink together, it's usually my go-to festival face - hot pink lipstick and turquoise eyeshadow, they go so beautifully together.
Shantung silk? How very fancy! xxx
