Mom-Day at Lochside Trail/Mattick's Farm in Ringmaster and Plaid

Hello, and welcome back to Mom-Day Adventures! Today we went for a walk along Lochside Trail near Mattick's Farm, last visited here in February 2024 when we saw a horse! No horses this time.
This is the pic we sent to the Fam Chat via text. Hi, Fam!

I played around in my closet in the morning, while I waited for some theatre tickets to go on sale. Twelve of us are going to see "The Book of Mormon" musical this summer!
I built the outfit around an item you can't even see here, my Sheer Mag tour shirt, picked up at the show last week.

  • T-shirt - Sheer Mag concert, purchased here for $50.00
  • Acid-wash denim vest - Chiqle, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in March with my red leopard suit
  • Pants - H&M, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) with my Emoji tunic in January
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last worn here in September 2024 with a denim fin
  • Coat - Rodarte by Opening Ceremony Fall/Winter 2011, consignment; last seen here in March 2023 for a Mom-Day at the HCP

I knew that even though it was sunny it would be chilly in the shade. I wore layers.
I haven't worn my Ringmaster Coat in forever (over two years!). Yikes, that's far too long for such a cool piece.

This is how I looked for most of the time I was out.
Rock on! The coat tails are fun - and this is the first time I've ever belted this coat.

With my purse and general accoutrements on.
We had lunch at Adrienne's Tea House after our walk, and then I bused home. I forgot my wallet in front of the computer (oops!), so Mom bought us lunch (thank you!) and no Wee Shop for me.

The outfit without the Ringmaster Coat.
Sheer Mag tee, my acid-wash denim vest. I actually put the grommet belt on over my pants when I took the coat off during lunch.

Incognito.
I was glad I had my gloves and scarf - there was still a bite to the wind.

Accoutrements:
Happy to have my "bigger on the inside" purse back.

  • Purse - Roots 73, thrifted
  • Belt - gift from Ruth
  • Silk scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton
  • Leather gloves - Picabo, Powell River

The stuff:
I adore these shoes - they are so comfy. I wore a pair of black lacy knee highs with them.

Silver bling:
The zipper rose was on the lapel of my coat.

  • Zipper rose - V&A Museum gift shop, London
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Steel/crystal bracelet - Juicy Couture, consignment
  • Silver earrings - Israeli, consignment
  • Silver/onyx necklace - Mexican, consignment, Powell River
  • Red enamel/silver ring - antique store, Sidney
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall

We parked and strolled down this section of the Lochside Trail.
There were not as many cyclists whizzing by as we'd feared. The golf course was on our right.

The bird-song was so loud!
I was watching for feathered visitors, and caught this little brown bird - a thrush?

Long tunnels of green.
At one point a hummingbird hovered around us, checking to make sure we stayed away from her nest, I'm sure.

Look up!
Dizzying heights.

A lovely robin, watching over the path.
He was fearless, and let me walk right up to him.

I think this is a woodpecker.
The camera insisted on focusing on the branches. Leaves coming out!

Mom and a long view of the path.
We didn't go too far, and turned around after half an hour.

I liked this person's red coat in the distance.
Just being around all these trees felt so good.

All our cares slipped away.
We stopped to bask in the sun.

I dashed off the path to investigate this grove of trees.
So many beautiful clumps of flowers.

I spy hyacinths in blue and burgundy, daffodils and narcissus.
So pretty!

Time for lunch!
We'd both planned on buying new slippers at one of the boutiques at Mattick's Farm, but the store had closed.

We both ordered the Cajun chicken salad and cheese scone, and shared a pot of berry tea.
It was scrumptious! The scone was fantastic - I could have eaten four of them! (not really - one was plenty).

Thanks for such a wonderful day, Mom!
I love you!

Our little kitty settled himself on the back of the couch last night.
"I always sit here."

Silly boy, you haven't slept there in ages.

And there you have it, my friends! I'm signing off now for the weekend, but I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure, so please do swing by for a visit again soon. Thanks so much for dropping by!

  1. Book of Mormon - My friend saw it this past weekend and said it was “fun and hilarious.” Psyched for you all to have tickets!
Doubly psyched not to see winter or even fall coats on either you or your Mom! Much to be said for the soothing power of sunshine, being in nature and being able to dress in less. We have a mix of some days warm and sunny, others still warm yet rainy, and occasionally some chilly days tossed in to make it truly feel like spring. (Fred just walked by and said “Hi to Sheila.” :))
The Ringmaster is back and looks content to be belted; I like how the back slit shows off the fun plaid of your pants. Wonderful silver bling, especially the earrings and the red enamel/silver ring and, come to think of it, the necklace, which makes me think of day (shape) and night (onyx).
As always, that’s a beautiful selfie of you and your Mom. ❤️ Hi Helen!
I have grand jury duty again today. Will try another dress, one I haven’t worn in over a year, and see if it passes muster. Ha ha, my dresses are each going on trial to see if they stay or go. ;)
Have a lovely and fun weekend! We are going to one of the many HANDS OFF demonstrations on Saturday. There is positive power in gathering in groups to make a statement and show up in solidarity; plus it actually lifts our spirits to be reminded we are not alone.
    Cheers, Laurie

  2. I always like to “walk” along with you and your lovely mom. There is something so wonderful about being out in parks, especially the ones you visit. That jacket, with its coattails, is so cool! I’ve never seen Book of Mormon, but I’ve already gotten my tickets to the touring version of Wicked! I’m off to the hair salon then home to work in the yard. Have a fabulous weekend!

  3. That's a nice camera you've got there. I love your bird photography. The robin is stunning...and even if the camera focused on the leaves on the next photograph, we can see it is a woodpecker.
So nice to have a walk with you and your mom. The trees and the nature are so lovely there.

I love your outfit, especially your printed Sheer Mag tee. The jacket is very cool too! Awesome accessories and shoes as well. Enjoy your weekend!

What a fantastic day you had, the weather looked glorious. I'm salivating over that scone, I bet I could eat a few of them!
    Have a fabulous weekend! xxx

  5. What a splendid springtime walk!
Your lunch look scrumptious indeed. I could murder one of those cheese scones.
I've got coats I haven't worn for more than two years, so I'm definitely getting you. But what a fabulous outfit it got to be part of for its come-back outing! xxx
