Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Friday Wrinkles and Issey; Pink and Orange Brunch; Black for Winesday; Art Project Completed: Yvonne's Badass Boots

Ah, the weekend was a relief after a very busy and tiring week. We had a fairly quiet weekend, with a Winesday/MANday in there, and L and I are in the process of hopefully adopting a new kitten. We will of course share him as soon as we have him at home. EXCITING!

But first, clothes! This is what I wore to the office on Friday.
As you can see, I couldn't wait to wear the new-to-me mesh draped skirt that I bought the day before!

  • Toga top - Zara, consignment; first seen here in May with plaid pants a  maxi-bomber
  • Skirt - Zara, consignment; purchased here for $26.00 NWT
  • Sandals - Lucky Brand; last worn here in June with a crinkly skirt
  • Jacket - Issey Miyake, consignment, Sidney; first seen here in May with a cosmic top

I peeked over the railing to see if Kes was around - and he was!
"Where is that noise coming from?"

I made the "pssss psss" noise and I know he can hear me, but he hasn't figured out I'm above him. Neighbour Zsa Zsa was also out and spotted me, but the picture wasn't very good. Kes, send us good vibes for our kitty adoption!

Getting in another wearing of my "toga" top and all its wrinkles, which I'm just accepting.
I belted over the peplum again and liked how it covered the elastic waistband of the skirt. I loved the skirt and am excited to integrate it into the rest of the closet.

Incognito. I thought I might need my Issey cardigan/jacket in the office, but did not.
I took the belt off the top and belted it over the jacket. I like this look!

The stuff:
I pack these sandals away for fall/winter, and usually the matchy belt too.

  • Silk scarf - Vera, vintage, consignment, Powell River
  • Python Belt - Leather of the Sea, vintage 80s, thrifted

Pearly bling:
I knotted the chain of the necklace to keep the pearl off to the side - it hung where you see it, while the weight of the pin pulled the chain down.

  • Pearl bracelet - thrifted Powell River
  • Gold/turquoise ring - consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Stone ring - thrifted
  • Silver/amber ring - consignment
  • Chain bracelet - thrifted
  • Pearl necklace - thrifted
  • Pearl earrings - vintage fair
  • Seashell brooch (on chain) - JJ, vintage 80s, consignment, Powell River
  • Pearl ring (not shown) - The Pearl Factory, 1985, Hawaii
Oops, forgot to take my pearl ring off.

L and I headed down to John's Place for brunch. More short skirts to be worn! Backwards hangers in the short skirt department, ahoy!
Even sheer tights, like these lacy ones, give me more Thigh Security.

  • Blazer - InWear; last seen here with warm leopard in July
  • Sparkly top - M by Missoni, thrifted; last worn here with patchwork denim in May
  • PVC skirt - Nine West, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in October 2024 for a Mom-Day at the HCP
  • Boots - Original Mittwoch, Fluevog; last worn here for Mom-Day at Elk Lake with blue and orange

See my little black wooden cat pin? A kitten is (hopefully!) coming soon...
I liked the orange and pink mix in this outfit.

I'm not sure if this pink faux leather skirt is a keeper. I wear it once or twice a year.
It's rather short, so I always need to wear tights with it.

But it has one big plus:
Pockets!

Incognito.
L and I did a big shop at the local Bosley's pet store, picking up all kinds of new things for a new furry family member: a new litter box and scooper, new bowls and water fountain, toys and kitten food. We are ready!

The stuff:
I love these boots, but they are a commitment, and I had Winesday on Saturday evening and didn't want to deal with taking them off/on multiple times.

  • Leather purse - Michael Kors, consignment
  • Silk scarf - Marc Rosier, consignment

Silver bling:
Heavy metal.

  • Plastic cuff - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver mesh cuff - consignment, Sidney
  • Steel/Lucite ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted
  • Wooden cat pin - consignment
  • Silver/onyx necklace - Mexican, consignment, Powell River
  • Earrings - c. 1996, consignment

I changed up some of the outfit for Winesday. We hung out in Linda's backyard under her pergola while torrential rain pattered down around us. It was still warm out, though.
Stretchy jeans for sitting around.

  • Top - M by Missoni, thrifted; worn above
  • Vest - Religion, consignment; last seen here (4th outfit) in August with green velour
  • Jeans - Scotch & Soda, thrifted; last worn here in August with my Banksy tee
  • Boots - Austen Biblio, Fluevog; last seen here in August at Rithet's Bog with Mom
  • Blazer - InWear; last worn above

A vest for another layer of warmth, just in case it got cold.
Not a very exciting outfit (that's a lot of black), but good for chilling with my women.

More pockets!
I cabbed to Linda's and back with Cat and Yvonne.

Accoutrements:
No change to the bag/scarf, but zip-on/zip-off boots. Of course it rained...because I wore velvet boots!

Purple bling:
The belt is reversible, with caramel on the other side of the pink.

  • Belt - Calvin Klein, thrifted
  • Leather/chain wrap - local
  • Leather cuff - thrifted
  • Cat pin - consignement
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/amethyst/gold ring - gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1985
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Earrings - Kate Spade
  • Necklace - vintage glass beads (belonging to some relative), restrung years ago by me

Art Project: Yvonne's Badass Boots

I last updated my progress here a couple of weeks ago.

After setting up all the new kitty stuff, I had some time free in the afternoon, so I finished up Yvonne's boots! The grey pen I bought was a bit darker than the one I'd used on the first boot, so I went over it so they'd match.
A light round of shadows and we were done.

This took about 3 hours.
My hands were sore when I was done.

All done, ready to take and give to Yvonne!
I hoped she would like them - I have been keeping her apprised of progress.

She immediately had to put them on.
I'd recommend a sock!

Model them for me!
Showing the skull and crossbones on the heel. That's the badass part!

They look great!
I hope you wear them lots! Free touch-ups anytime you need 'em.

And there we are, my friends, another weekend gone far too fast. I will be updating as soon as we get a kitten - I'm ridiculously excited but trying to be CHILL about it.

Thank you so much for being here!

  2. Fabulous everything! If you were polling, I'd vote to keep the skirt even if just for a once a year showing. It will let you know when it's time for it to go. Such happy news about a prospective addition. Hope all goes perfectly.
