Copper and Blue Velvet Jammy

I'm hosting Book Club in an hour, so today's post is going to be short and to the point.
Blue velvet Jammy Dress - win!

  • Silk/viscose dress - COS, thrifted; last worn here in September 2024 with black boots
  • Boots - Rockport, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in October 2024 for brunch
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here in March

An outraged squawking greeted me at the stairs.
Bert and Ethel are back! Ethel was the squawking one - she flapped off just before I took this - likely complaining that her nesting area was neglected. I love the neighbourhood seagulls.

Back to the dress, which was a huge boon to my busy day.
I stroked it for tactile therapy - it reminds me of petting Vizzini.

I love the colour.
I went with brown boots and tights this time, toning with the copper jewelry.

Pockets!
My work phone dragged the pocket down past the hem, oops.

Outerwear! I needed all of this in the morning - it was cold and windy.
I stashed the gloves and hat in my bag, and hopped the bus home to get a jump on blogging and prepping the light snacks that a Book Club host provides.

Accoutrements:
Lesson: Wear all the stuff, but be ready to carry it home.

  • Silk scarf - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Leather gloves - Ralph Lauren, thrifted
  • Hat - Picabo, vintage 00s, vintage fair

The stuff:
Comfy boots in general - they're barely 1 inch.

Copper bling:
Wearing my twin to Vix's pendant, plus some other turquoise, plastic/glass and enamel on copper.

  • Copper/turquoise squash blossom cuff - Bell Trading Post, vintage 60s, consignment, Powell River
  • Copper/enamel cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Copper/glass ring - consignment
  • Copper ball ring - consignment
  • Copper/enamel earrings - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, Grandma J's
  • Copper/plastic necklace - Bell Trading Post, vintage 60s, consignment

  1. Your copper jewelry always gets me smiling especially when a piece contains turquoise; the colors play well with one another. Yay for jammy dressing and ‘shoe math’ to make for a comfortable outfit. Ugh, I know that annoying feeling when the phone weighs down the pocket enough to impact the hem or drape of the material!
You may have mentioned this awhile ago…what book did you select/is your book group reading? I just finished The Once and Future Witches. Parts of it were difficult to read (because I could picture what was happening) but overall I quite liked reading about the Eastwood Sisters. While the story takes place in the 1600s and the book was published in 2020, I imagined a version with slight modifications (eventually) occurring in the modern day U.S. ;)
    Cheers, Laurie

  2. That’s the thing about good velvet, isn’t it? You just have to stroke it…so satisfying. I would have done black tights and boots, but that would have been a big mistake. The brown is soooo much better! And, it works so well with the turquoise and copper jewelry. I often use shoe math when deciding whether to buy footwear. I learned it from you! Hope your Book Club went well!
