Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Weird Adidas Friday; Winesday Paper Flowers, and Many Kittens

Welcome back, my friends! This was a "fill my cup" kind of weekend, with Friday on my own, and a quiet Saturday in preparation of Winesday at my house.
I had to get the grey Adidas jacket out of my head, so I picked out this lovely colourful bomber jacket - it's also Adidas!

  • Nylon jacket - Adidas X Farm Rio, consignment; first seen here in September 2025 with my pirate skirt
  • Cotton tee - Marimekko, consignment; last worn here in August 2025 on our trip to Powell River
  • Tulle skirt - Adidas, consignment; last seen here in March with tricky colours
  • Boots - 7th Heaven Mega Racer, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in February for brunch

I had a busy day on Friday at work, but managed to pop out and pick up some treats for myself while L was in Vancouver to see Courtney Marie Andrews with Casey.
I bused home after work, changed into sneakers (the boots still rub the backs of my heels a bit) and walked to my haircut.

I felt much more me in this.
You can't go wrong with black and white.

I took the jacket off a few times in the office, and while Kaitlyn cut my hair.
Barnabas came running when the timer started beeping.

The boys are always lurking around.
"Stay home!"

Don't I wish?

Incognito.
I finally matched this scarf up to the perfect outfit. I wore the scarf and gloves in the early morning and walking home from my haircut.

I carried my gloves in my purse, and tied the scarf to it too.
Thanks for the assist, Barnabas, you goofy cat.

The stuff:
See what I mean about the scarf? Perfect!

  • Leather purse - Fossil, consignment, Powell River
  • Scarf - vintage, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Leather gloves - consignment

Orange bling:
Audrey covered up the Adidas logo on the jacket.

  • Plastic cuff and ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Orange bangle - consignment, Sidney
  • Wooden earrings - vintage, vintage fair
  • Steel/Lucite ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted
  • Malachite ring - thrifted
  • Audrey brooch - consignment
  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment

I was excited to see that the giant skeleton has purple bunny ears.
And some pretty flowers!

These beautiful pink tulips.
A gorgeous Victorian house. My neighbourhood is full of them.

This big boy trotted off.
No time to visit with humans.

I spent a quiet Friday night on my own, as L was in Vancouver with Casey to see Courtney Marie Andrews (who I like, but not enough to take a day off to go to Van).
The kitties and I rotted in bed (as the kids say).

Then I got my stuff together, and prepared to host Winesday at home that night. My goals were to tidy up the lighting situation out on the deck, and to pre-do most of the work for a Crafting Session.
The kitties were very enthusiastic. You'll note Whateley kicked all of my socks out of the bag so that he could sleep in it.

Barnabas helped me redo the lights on the deck.
"I'm a helper!"

I didn't take any pictures of the deck, as I just removed all the lanterns (and turfed the dead ones) from the window sills and retaped the solar light string to the window frames, away from kitties' biting teeth.

I don't usually dress up much for Winesday, but I felt like wearing this Baroque top again so Rosanna could see it in person.
I wore it buttoned up, with nylon cargo pants and my new-to-me sheer crinkly skirt over them.

  • Shirt - Miss Ann, vintage 90s Versace copy, vintage fair; first worn here in March with orange Boss Pants
  • Cargo pants - Cambio, consignment; last seen here in September 2025, the day we met our kitty boys!
  • Sheer skirt - Vitrin Design, consignment; purchased here for $38.00

This was an utterly comfy outfit that I wore all day, from around noon until 1am when L got home from MANday.
Rockin' on!

Did you notice my Fluevog socks?
I didn't wear shoes all day.

The stuff:
Stacks of bracelets, and ropes of necklaces.

  • Enameled bracelet - Lauren G. Adams, consignment
  • Assorted 80s eelskin bangles - thrifted and consignment
  • Large link chain - Monet, thrifted
  • Smaller link chain - 80s, Grandma J's
  • Copper/glass ring - consignment
  • Olivine/coral ring - Hawaii, vintage 70s, Mom's

This picture is from a massive paper-flower-making session we did 10 years ago, here in April 2016, at Caro's place.
From left: Yvonne, Cat, me, Vero, Karen and Caro. So many flowers!

That was for Yvonne's surprise party that wasn't (her husband accidentally invited her). We thought it would be fun to do another session this year, for all our April/May birthdays.
Craft supplies obtained! Glue, 6 packs of tissue, some pipe cleaners, extra scissors and floral tape (important - it seals the glued area).

Remembering what a massive undertaking it was the last time, I prepared all of the tissues by folding them and trimming them into the starting shape, ready to be turned into petals.
"I don't know what you're doing, but I'm helping!"

It took close to two hours to cut 120 individual pieces of tissue.
Showing my folding, trimming off a small hole in the bottom.

All ready to go!
This REALLY sped up actual flower-making into a much more fun time - less work for all.

The boys supervised.
"When is the Man home?"

He arrived mid-afternoon, when all of my prep-work was done.

And now, some pictures of our creations, and our general Winesday silliness.
Three flowers in the background, and Whateley sleeping on top of the post. He stayed there most of the night, submitting to pets and scritches from my girlfriends.

Another burst of colourful flowers on the bar.
I made about 6-7 flowers myself. I think everyone made at least one!

This one's so pretty!
I wished I'd had more colours - all the dollar store had were these soft pastels.

Caro, very intent on her creation.
It was amazing to see how creative everyone got with cutting shapes!

Tracy and Rosanna.
Lovely! I adored Rosanna's "Cookie Monster" mohair cardigan!

Tracy and Jean with their flowers.
That's the only picture of Ali's flower - her kitty Fitz destroyed it overnight!

Caro and Vero with Caro's finished creation.
Note Whateley totally ignoring all of it!

Two more flowers flanking a gorgeous little bouquet of fragrant real roses.
Big thanks to Marian for those! I'm sorry I didn't get any pics of you, honey!

Barnabas, meanwhile, charmed everyone by crashing on the couch and stealing seats.
I think Caro fell in love with him when he put his paw on her arm and rolled over for a tummy rub!

Many years ago...this is pre-blog!...we took a tiny photo of a Winesday at my house.
That's Vero, Cat, me in the back, and Jean and Caro in the front.

We tried to recreate it.
I got us backwards, haha! Me and Cat in the back, Vero on one arm, and Caro and Jean in the chair.

Thanks so much to Tracy for taking these.
Oh my gosh, we were laughing so hard.

Get in there, Trace!
I'm resting my chin on Caro's head, ha ha! Love you all so much!

And now, time to go back to normal.
And enjoy the last hours with my boys and L.

I hope you had a marvelous weekend, my friends! Thank you so much for being here!
