Teal and Cream - and a Birthday Week Break

I made it. I'm on holiday until next Monday!
A lovely view of my vintage slip
It's an official "stay-cation" - I really need some down-time.

  • Blouse - Ben Sherman, thrifted; last seen here (6th outfit) after the out-laws' visit
  • Skirt - Mackage, thrifted; first worn here for my mom's birthday
  • Shoes - Channi B; purchased here on the weekend for $295.00

I showed off my new shoes to everyone at work (hands off, Lesley! you can't have these shoes yet!). I had several compliments on the ensemble, especially since my hair matched the purple stripe of the shirt, and the pink lining of the shoes.
I see someone sneaking a peek!
It's like I planned it. I wanted to wear this skirt one more time in the May capsule - it's going to be put away for fall, as it's too warm now for thick leather.

The stuff:
First wear - barefoot! - and these were amazing shoes. A nice squishy platform, lots of room in the toes, no rubbing or chafing anywhere. Worth every penny.

Pearl bling:
I always forget about this necklace.

  • Necklace - vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

I'll be back on Sunday with my mild during-the-week adventures, our sure-to-be insane birthday party for L (I have a few outfit changes planned!), and a small examination of the May/June capsules. On second thought, that's a lot. I might try fit the capsule stuff into a post later on this week. We'll see...I don't have to decide! I'm on vacation! Weeeeeee!

Layin' Low Monday

Monday down, Tuesday to go - I'm counting the days until I'm off again. Three whole days...
I haven't had 3 days in a row off since Christmas!

  • Blouse - Tabi, consignment; last seen here (5th outfit) during the weekend with the out-laws
  • Skirt - Vero Moda, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) for a weekend shop
  • Shoes - Franco Sarto, consignment; last seen here in late April with the Spanish ladies dress

I wasn't entirely happy with the silhouette of this outfit, despite tying the blouse at the waist. Too much fullness all over, but meh, it was fine for a day when I just wanted to keep my brain in vacation mode. It always feels like cheating in this blouse - I swear, it's just like a pajama top.
One more day of my loosey-goosey May capsule, and I'm probably not going to keep this skirt. It's too big, so I have to keep the waist covered (and it spins when I wear it). I only paid $6.00 for it, and this is its 3rd wear. I'm good with $2/wear.

The stuff:
I realized just now that I still have my ring on.

  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment
  • Ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop

These shoes are lovely and comfy - and such a cool colour. Also, bows!

Bigass Long Weekend Wrap-Up: Indolents, Black Brunch, Purple Punk and A Casual Shop

Oh my, what a weekend! I simply can't talk about!
It's all so dramatic.

  • Top - Abercrombie & Fitch, thrifted; last worn here for a March long weekend
  • Trousers - Tara Jarmon, consignment; last seen here a week ago with stripes
  • Shoes - Down to Earth Hadfield, Fluevog; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with baby-blue Muppet
  • Jacket - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here on Thursday

L and I both took Friday off for the Annual Day of Indolence! All those who are able to be indolent and take the day off with us are welcome!
I needed layers, comfort and the ability to do a lot of walking.
This was perfect - it was a chilly and overcast day.

Gotta wear the coat!
Ah, it's going to be a fun day!
The stuff:
These are swiftly becoming one of my favourite shoes ever.

Geometric and floral bling:
Easy pieces that I don't have to think about.

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - Tania Gleave

Unlike our huge, crazy gallivant last year (down the rabbit hole here), this year was fairly low-key.
Karen, Cat and me
L, Casey, Chris and I started out at brunch; we then meandered over to the Strath for a beer, while Chris went to work.

Cat, Ross and Karen joined us after a half-day of work.
Ross, L and Casey
After a few drinks and a bit of lunch, we sauntered to the Drake where Caro met up with us.
Recognize the coat?
We also did karaoke, and grabbed a slice of pizza before we all staggered home. What an awesome day, spent with awesome friends, and what a fun way to kick of L's birthday week!

On Saturday morning, L and I went out for brunch.
No Ulty, so we got to sleep in a bit - well-needed!

  • Top - Plum, thrifted; last seen here in February for a grunge-y Friday
  • Skirt - Concept XXV, thrifted; last worn here for amateur and pro Ultimate earlier this month
  • Shoes - Ash, consignment; last seen here with lace and a scuba skirt
  • Coat (below) - antique store

We got caught in the rain a few times.
Crazy spring weather!

This calls for a crazy fringed coat.
I rarely took the coat off, so this is what most of the public saw.

The stuff:
L and I wandered to one of my favourite shoes stores in town, Footloose Shoes, where I found these exact shoes on the sale rack for $200. And I only paid $19.95 for mine - score!

  • Ear cuff - local
  • Earring - local

Vizzini has been pretty well behaved this weekend.
"You say that like you're surprised."
He hasn't destroyed anything or eaten anything.
"The weekend isn't over yet."
He hasn't bitten either of us (much).
"I'd like to bite those elastic bands."
He even cuddled while we played multiple games of Arkham Horror.

Although by last night, he was getting tired of it.
"You're getting ready to go out again, aren't you?"
You can feel the fury in his gaze.

And yes, we were getting ready to go out! We met up with Cat, Ross, Elaine, Casey and Helene to go see some local punk bands, opening for the returning Art Bergmann.
Purple is the way to go!

  • Dress - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here in August 2015 with lime green
  • Shoes - Miista; last worn here at the end of March with a stained glass dress
  • Jacket (below) - Desigual; last seen here with lots of green lace in January

The opening band was Awkward, followed by Couch Thieves. We preferred Couch Thieves.
 And yes, I wore earplugs.

I also wore this glorious coat.
Rock on, my friends!
The stuff:
I had to carry my new-to-me clutch! It's so spiky! We also walked to and from the show.

Silver bling:
Simple pieces for this punk rocker.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Cuff - Bauxo
  • Earrings - local
  • Ring - thrifted

This was our second time seeing Art Bergmann (check out my outfit last time here (2nd outfit) in September 2014), but after the first two bands, we left before Art was finished. Sorry, man.

I lolled about this morning for a while before I got my stuff together and went to town to get groceries.
Okay, I need to cut that big
Not the best outfit of the weekend, but I give it a C+ for effort (as in, I made an effort).

  • Cardigan - Reitmans, thrifted; last seen here with the above black and white skirt
  • Top - Mossimo, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) layered in February
  • Trousers - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last seen here with copper bookends last week
  • Shoes - JustFab, consignment; purchased here in December 2015 for $20.80

It was warmer and sunny today, and I needed to see how these new-to-me sandals would do for a slow stroll to and from town.
Verdict: not good. Out of my closet you go, vile shoes!

The stuff:
These aren't leather, and those straps viciously dug into the tops of my feet, and the left sandal cut at the back of my ankle. No way am I keeping these!

  • Earrings - 10th anniversary gift from L

I consoled myself with a new pair of shoes from local other awesome store, Heart and Sole Shoes (link here 'cause I love!). These are by Channi B (link), a Canadian shoe designer based in Bath, England.
I  know! These are the most gorgeous shade of teal blue, and don't you love the sparkly T-strap?
I have been on the lookout for a funky teal T-strap for several years, since I got rid of these (purchased here in 2008) Jeffrey Campbell shoes in 2009.

These were $298.00, but worth every penny!
Checked by Chloe!
I am so excited to wear these!

I also went to The Velvet Crease, probably for the last time. They seem to have given over most of the store to clearing out of plus-size clothing (not second-hand). Great for others, not for me. However, I did find these fabulous silver leather loafers for $30.00.
They are by Noa Noa.
Did not know they made shoes. Huh.

I also really loved this graphic printed pencil skirt.
 It's by Sandra Angelazzi.
It was $25.00, and is a silk blend.

And now, wrapping it all up with a picture of L working on a dragon...
"I could bite that."
...with an assist from Vizzini.

Cartoon Bluebirds Optional: Yellow and Aqua

Today is my Friday! What a lovely short week it's been.
I'm celebrating the start of my weekend with this fabulous yellow dress.

  • Dress - Calvin Klein, consignment; last seen here (4th outfit) for dinner out with my inlaws earlier this month
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevogs; last worn here a week ago with All The Things
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last (not) seen here over last week's WW outfit

I called this my "Disney Princess Dress" all day (bluebirds optional, although I'm so tickled that Lorena added them here), and swanned about the office, swooshing and whooshing the skirt around.
It's a lovely dress, and I'm really not surprised that it won the Battle of the Yellow Dresses (here).

Outerwear - it's gotten chilly and windy again, darnit!
This really is the perfect spring jacket. All my other jackets are getting jealous from neglect.

The stuff:
I love these shoes. What am I going to do when they finally wear out? Buy more? Now, there's a thought...

Turquoise bling:
I was so happy that I remembered that I'd bought this amazing turquoise and pale green dragonfly obi and stored it away for summer. I think I only paid $1 or $2 for it!

  • Obi - handmade, thrifted
  • Earrings - local, first wear
  • Ring - local

Tomorrow is our annual "Day of Indolence" in celebration of L's upcoming birthday, so I'll be back on Sunday! Have a wonderful weekend!
