Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Weird Adidas and Pink Friday; Cheese Curls and Clogs for Brunch (and a Wee Shop)

Welcome back, my friends! So good to see you. I hope my friends south of the border had a good 4th of July!

We have outfits from Friday, Saturday brunch, and a bunch of cat pictures. What are we waiting for?

Here's Friday's office ensemble, built around this newly-thrifted menswear blazer.
I know, it's huge! I love that!

  • Blazer - Jack Victor for Landmark Clothiers, thrifted; purchased here for $28.95
  • T-shirt - SPRZNY x Andy Warhol, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) for brunch in January
  • Tulle skirt - Adidas, consignment; last worn here in April with Marimekko and green boots
  • Extra tulle skirt - Luc Fontaine, thrifted; last seen here in November 2025 under this same skirt
  • Sequined sneakers - Converse, consignment; last worn here in April for a Mom-Day at home

I used to wear my dad's blazers like this in the 80s, but I smiled when I realized I'm basically doing a version of Yvonne's outfit - made with this tee, this tulle skirt and her own pink blazer - from the last Urbanite at the Art Gallery. Check it out here (picture only), from April 2025.
It's a winning combination, what can I say?

I wore the outfit without the jacket for a while.
I like this version as well. The image is a blue and a pink metallic line drawing of Andy Warhol's soup can.

Incognito.
My scarf wafted in the wind as I walked home after work. It's getting sunny again for the weekend.

The stuff:
I loved the glaring cat pin - it reminds me of our old kitty Othello.

  • Silk scarf - Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, vintage 90s, consignment
  • Belt - Silpada Designs, thrifted
  • Audrey brooch - consignment
  • Cat pin - gift from Yvonne
  • Star pin - consignment

Bold bling:
I liked the feel of this necklace on. It has heft!

  • Steel cuff - Lakeland Art Metal Works, thrifted
  • Lucite/sterling silver bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver pinky ring - consignment, Sidney
  • Necklace - consignment, Vancouver
  • Earrings - vintage fair

I checked on the boys before leaving for work in the morning.
Oh, sorry, did I disturb you?

Barnabas just blinked at me.
And rolled over so I could rub his tum. Reader, I did.

After a lovely evening of board games and music, L and I headed out to John's Place for lunch on Saturday, minus Nick who was watching Canada get trounced by Morocco in the footie.
This dress gets its annual wearing - it's not a good dress for work, but it's an awesome dress for brunch.

  • Silk blouse - Zoe + Sam, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in June for lunch out with Mom for L's birthday
  • Cheese curl dress - no label, vintage 70s, consignment; last seen here (2nd and 3rd outfits) worn two ways in July
  • Clogs - Drie VogClog, Fluevogs; purchased here for $239.99 but paid with gift cards

The pattern of the dress reminds me of cheese curls. The blouse gives good sun coverage - I've worn it with this before.
I wore wee shorts underneath. The kittens were lurking around during photos - that's Barnabas' fuzzy head.

Whateley photobombed me!
I didn't take the blouse off except when I was trying on things at Upcycle and Dots while L ran some errands.

Incognito.
Hello to Mitra, a lovely person I met at Upcycle! She had the coolest pants on!

The stuff:
I walked about 8 blocks total and was on my feet for just over 1.5 hours, and my new clogs were excellent.

  • Purse - Streetwear Society, consignment

Black and white bling:
Just the usual suspects.

  • Black and white cuff - vintage fair
  • Black and white bangles - consignment
  • Jet/crystal necklace - vintage 50s, Grandma J's
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/onyx spider ring - gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1986
  • Silver loopy ring - consignment, Sidney

And here's what I found while I was out and about. First, two things at Upcycle Consignment.
I really liked the cut of this shirt - I've been looking for good shirts that will go with some of my funky skirts and bottoms. I've always enjoyed a stripe.

It had this weird logo embroidered on the front.
IOI EMH?

Also on the buttons.
Okay, this is good quality. Note that the stripes are woven, not printed.

I laughed at the care/content label.
100% cotton and I can't even wash it? Yeah, I don't think so - this is getting washed!

Ah, it's Toteme!
I've heard of this brand - they're all over Substack. This was $35.00 - I was shocked to see their shirts start at over $1,000.00 retail - this sells secondhand for $125-350.00. Yikes.

The colours in this dress appealed to me.
This will go with a lot of shoes and boots.

It has big pockets.
Aren't the colours cool? Very painty.

It's by Masai, a brand I've seen around (some at Dots, some in boutiques).
It was $56.00, which felt about right. These retail around $300.00 new.

I killed time before meeting up with L again by going through Dots again (I'm always looking for interesting pieces).
This blue top is polyester in a scritchy weave, kind of like nylon.

I like the ruching down the front.
It's adjustable!

It's by Sassy and they call this "Navy." Looks like blue to me.
It was an extra 20% off, so was $27.99.

Whateley just flopping wherever.
We had our neighbours Emma and Daylan over for a movie ("Bubba Ho-Tep"), music and snacks. They loved seeing the boys.

A bunch of Barnabas being cute.
I love how he just leans up on the cushion.

He's just crashed.
Showing his "feathers," as Caro calls them.

A pet of the tummy and he curls around.
More tummy rubs!

That sweet face.
Sending you all happy purrs and warm fur! I hope you had a fun weekend!

Thanks so much for being here, my friends!
