Flocked, Brocade and Pink

Hello, and welcome back, Gentle Readers! Another week, but I'm ready for it, having given myself a good session in my closet on Sunday, preparing for the week ahead.
I've had these things hung together since I got the pink sweater - it matches the boots perfectly.

  • Wool blazer - The Elite, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in January with aqua and leopard
  • Cotton sweater - Northern Reflections, thrifted; purchased here for $11.95
  • Flocked skirt - no label, consignment; last seen here in September for a Mom-Day shop
  • Boots - Jubilee Gladstone, Fluevog; last worn here in December 2024 with pink, gold and black
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last seen here in November

That made for an easy Monday outfit - all I had to do was add a bunch of accessories.
The sweater was excellent, worth every one of its twelve dollars. I enjoyed wearing the velvet flocked tulle skirt again too.

The black wool blazer is incredibly beautiful and so well made.
Those buttons just kill me. Back detail!

Pops of pink! I was a little chilled in my sleeveless coat.
It's hovering in the single digits, but now rain has begun in earnest, and the humidity makes it colder - I feel it in my bones.

The stuff:
These brocade boots are so gorgeous, but tricky to style.

  • Crocheted collar - vintage thrifted wool, made by me!
  • Toque - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment
  • Big tree pin - Keyes, gift from Ev, c. 1997

I was delighted to wear my golden collar again!

Black and gold bling:
I did a cluster of pins on the blazer's lapel.

  • Belt - Charmant by Deborah Marinoff, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Snake bracelet - vintage 90s, consignment
  • Eelskin hinged bracelet - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Brass ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Lizard brooch - vintage, gift from Cat
  • Tree pin - Avon
  • Heart pin - consignment
  • Necklace - J. Crew, consignment
  • Earrings - thrifted

As I was about to leave in the morning, I turned around to find the boys on the hall-tree.
"This bag has to stay."          "And you can't leave without this one!"

Oh, sweet kittens, I'm so sorry to leave you!

    1. It's a very cool one - I'm now on the lookout for one in blue-green! I saw an orange-y one at Turnabout the last time I was there, but it wasn't good quality.
So happy to have the "right" pink in a basic layering sweater again! Thanks, Lise!

  3. Gorgeous boots! I love the combo of the pink top with the tulle skirt, they play quite will with each other. Would you ever consider wearing your blue leather (or is it pleather? I don't recall) bomber length jacket with the top and skirt? Or a sparkly black sweater? Or some other color sweater or jacket? My mind is going down a 'holiday cheer with color' path!
And oh my gosh, those two cute kitties are at it again! It's as if they know they are adorable!

    1. I love them, but ugh, so hard to style!
I don't recall a blue leather/pleather bomber jacket?? I have a blue leather blazer, but that's it (very few blue jackets, other than denim). But yes, I have and would wear blue with this tulle skirt again. And a sparkly black sweater - haven't worn it with this yet, but certainly would entertain it.
They are definitely learning what is "cute" and how it gets us to react!
Sending you good weather vibes from the west coast, Laurie (it's grey and rainy here, sigh).

  4. I'm admiring those brocade boots and the flocked tulle skirt is a thing of beauty. I'm glad to read the pink sweater made the grade. I'm on the lookout for one in a similar colour. Pops of pink are always a great idea!
And just look at those cheeky boys! xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Ann! I'm so happy to have that colour of pink sweater again - it's very useful in my wardrobe, for matching with shoes and other items with bits of pink. I hope the Secondhand Gawds send one your way!
      So cheeky!

  6. What a great outfit! They seem like disparate pieces when you look at them individually; but you put them together and they look like they were made for each other! Fabulous. I absolutely loooooove that skirt and those boots. Tulle for the win! (Plus, the right pink is wardrobe gold, haha.) readerrita
