Cowgirl, Honeycomb and Lovey Boys

Well, Monday came far too fast, but fortunately for me, I had a comfy outfit ready to go.
I went full cowgirl here - of course, I have to wear these boots with this shirt!

  • Studded cotton shirt - Topshop Moto, thrifted; first worn here (2nd outfit) in May with these same boots
  • Skirt - GP & J Baker x H&M, consignment; last seen here in May with a Space Jacket
  • Suede boots - Coach, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in September with a silver mini
  • Suede coat (below) - Mangoon, thrifted; last seen here in September for my Ruffled Cowgirl outfit at Rifflandia

I challenged myself to wear this shirt again in a work outfit, and I have concluded: it's not a work shirt!
I prefer this top unsnapped more at the neck, but it's a lot of skin for the office, even with a camisole under it.

I waffled over tossing it or keeping it, but I think I will keep it. I like the style and the snaps and bling, so I'll save it for weekends and days off.
My honeycomb skirt is showing wear, getting a little fuzzed out here and there. Vizzini liked it and some of the snags on it are from him. Aw!

This coat was definitely not warm enough, especially on the walk home. I'll have to relegate it to spring/fall.
I adore the fringe and it was fun to flap it around as I walked.

The stuff:
I also need to dig out my warmer scarves - they aren't far!

  • Silk scarf - Maxine Noel, consignment
  • Wool beret - Parkhurst, thrifted
  • Tree pin - Avon
  • Leather gloves - vintage, thrifted

Silver bling:
I love the new-to-me earrings! They were light and didn't knock me in the face.

  • Silver S bracelet - Mexico, consignment, Sidney
  • Silver/gold cuff - JPA, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Chan Luu, consignment; purchased here for $59.99
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver loopy ring - consignment, Sidney

Barnabas and I had a cuddle session on the weekend:
I just noticed the white tufts comin out of his ears. He's determined not to be a black cat.

Look at that face.
"I love you!"

Such a funny little guy. He has a very small head.
"I do not."

And Whateley just lurks around nearby.
"It's so undignified."

I came home to a garbage can knocked over, the toilet screw cap in the hall (it had already been taped down once!) and one of my boot-forms (which are twisted paper) destroyed.

  1. The devil is in their adorableness ;) Your jewelry, oh yes! Every piece is interesting looking and also looks comfortable to wear. I see the advantage of having a large ring collection! I understand your thoughts about the top but it does play well, in terms of overall look, with the rest of the outfit. Sandra (daughter-in-law) uses a small device (I think it was a chargeable razor?) on sweaters to de-lint them. I’d never seen that before and immediately saw the benefit. It’s a quiet week for us because last week was super charged (and fun :)). Also, the temperature was frigid yesterday, it was cloudy and there was black ice on the ground, not a good day for us to be walking. Forecast today is for sun and a wee bit warmer. Determined to walk…otherwise my glutes will rebel from so much sitting! Hoping the river is the sky passes you by! They are getting pummeled in northern WA but Robin is much further south so just has to deal with driving in downpours.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. They are so cute, but very mischievous. My wee wooden black cat pin is missing, as is one of my porcelain cat earrings! A mystery...
I love a lot of rings - they used to call that a "hand party." The top is still good but it's just not right for work. I've seen sweater de-pilling machines before - they can be useful on ball-y synthetics, but eventually the shaving can thin out the fabric. Most real wool doesn't pill if it's good quality.
I'm glad you have a quiet week leading into the Christmas week, Laurie! Stay warm out there, and watch out for that black ice, very dangerous!
We're mid-atmospheric river right now. It poured all morning. I hope Robin stays safe!

    2. Hmmm, two cats, two cat jewelry pieces missing…very interesting indeed! I wonder if cats sequester goodies similar to dogs burying bones. “Hand party” is a new term for me and it’s a perfect descriptor.

  2. The boots and shirt are just made to be worn together. You'll just have to save it for your days off then :-) Your silver bling is perfect with it too, and I spied your new-to-you earrings!
But oh your boys! So cute but definitely a handful (or make that two!). xxx

    1. Right? I will have to challenge myself to split them up at least once!
They are a handful, but so very worth it when they are being this cute! Thanks so much, Ann!

  3. Nice outfit, I love that skirt. The coat is cute, too, and I do admire your various woollen berets.
I'm laughing at Whateley disappearing off to one side in one photo!

    1. Thank you! I can't get enough of the wool berets - they squish into a purse, I can decorate them with pins, and they keep my hair dry! I need a yellow or orange one, but those are rare colours.
Hee, isn't that funny? They both like to lurk around in the morning when I'm doing pictures.
