I'd had visions of wearing this for a party, but I think you'll agree, it doesn't exactly scream "Party!," does it?
- Pirate leather top - Danier Leather, consignment; purchased here for $92.00
- Silk tuxedo top - no label, thrifted; last worn here in October with my velvet Pirate jacket
- Silk skirt - Essentiel Antwerp, consignment, Powell River; last seen here in September in my Ruffled Cowgirl Rifflandia outfit
- Boots - Original Sabado, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) in November to take the kitties to the vet
- Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here on Friday
It does scream "Pirate Queen Striding About," however. It works best done up - I do think it's meant to be worn more like a layering piece, like a vest. Not quite a shirt, not really a jacket.
I put my burgundy silk tux shirt under it - the cuffs peeked out as I typed, which delighted me. This swoosh-tastic silk skirt is the other shade of green that I already had, when I bought this skirt here.
This one has pockets, is massively swooshy, it's lined and is a very pale shade of olive, almost verging into grey or taupe.

Outerwear - it was dry on the way to work, but the heavens opened up on the way home.
Just picture all my hair inside the beret and me looking like someone dumped a bucket of water on me. I pulled the skirt up and tucked it into the waistband but the back of it still got soaked.

The stuff:
I'm not inclined to bother with fancy shoes this week. More rain is in the forecast...and there might even be SNOW.

What a great outfit you made with the jacket/top! So dramatic 🤩
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Julia!
DeleteOOo I love both leather jackets. So gorgeous. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jess!
DeleteLove the leather top! Lise
ReplyDeleteIt's SO luxe, Lise - like butter!
DeleteI'm loving the Pirate Queen outfit! The black leather top with the burgundy silk shirt + Mexican necklace peeking out is a great look. Not blaming you for wearing those earrings so much either. Sorry to hear about the rain and possible snow. The forecast here is for cold but sunny weather. I hope they're not wrong (again). Have a wonderful Christmas and relaxing holiday, my friend. Sending you, L. and the kittens best wishes! xxx
ReplyDeleteI like that layering as well, thank you, Ann! Cold but sunny? I'll take it over rain, although it's fairly clear today (Tuesday) so far. Happy Christmas to you, Jos and dear Bess, my friend!
DeleteSwishy-swooshy skirts are the best! And paired with the fitted leather and tux shirt?

Aw, thank you so much, Rita!
DeleteHow mean of the weather to dump rain on your fabulous outfit! I'm glad we can see it in all its glory before the hair got tucked in the beret and the skirt pulled up. Well, you could have had snow, which in some ways can be easier to stride through, provided you aren't wearing your best boots!
ReplyDeleteFabulous leather jacket...Paired with a maxi, it is giving steampunk vibes.
ReplyDeleteBooo to getting wet in the rain! The jacket looks super! I do see what you mean about the Pirate Queen chic! The skirt is really lovely- I had a similar one in a burgundy colour!x
ReplyDeleteI adore the skirt!

Agreed, the very swift leather jacket doesn’t exactly scream party though in typing this I just imagined it over a slinky silk top with matching pants and a gorgeous pair of heels….
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is quite nice and has the added attraction of being lined and having pockets. Now I completely understand why the other skirt was not really a contender!
Cheers and happy day after Christmas! Am not punctual this week on reading and commenting! Cheers, Laurie
That black jacket is beyond fabulous, what an indreible outfit! xxx
