Eternal Etro Layered

Monday again! But happily, we're looking at the long Labour Day weekend in our immediate future, so there's hope.
With the calendar flipping to September soon, I'm really taking a hard look at some of the things in my closet - those backwards hangers!

  • Mesh top - Noisy May, consignment; first seen here a couple of weeks ago with a windbreaker
  • Dress - Etro, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here in July 2024 with yellow flats
  • Leather boots - Doc Martens; last seen here in July with big red and sequined popcorn

I had a companion near the stairs this morning.
Hello, Zsa Zsa!

This vintage 90s Etro dress has only been layered once, when I first wore it way back in 2016 (3rd outfit here, after the Alice Cooper concert pictures!), and never since.
I'm trying to look at my clothes and really determine if they fit into my current vibes (badass, artsy and joyful). Many of my yet-to-be-worn pieces feel like an earlier version of me, so my goal is to try to style them up to fit my aesthetic or they have to go.

I liked how the layered mesh top and the Docs brought this a sporty-street feel.
I did not know my tag was out until I saw the pictures in the evening - I probably had it out all day, and no one told me. Oh, people. *shakes head*

Oh, well, whatever. I felt great in this!
All of these colours just make me so happy, and I swooshed around in this silky jersey dress. Keeper!

The stuff:
I walked to and from work in these, which is why I bought them. Gotta be able to walk!

Crystal bling:
First wearing of my new earrings!

  • Gold/crystal necklace/bracelet set - vintage 00s, gift from CAB
  • Carved jadeite bangle - consignment
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Lavender pearl earrings - consignment, Powell River; purchased here for $15.00

Love them.

  1. Love your descriptive words, however you left out Sporty... Your sporty vibe is influencing me :). Yes I have never had a sporty bone in my body but am now drawn to a Sporty and Edgy mix. I like how you checking if older pieces work with your current direction as opposed to editing them without trying. This dress matches your new hair colour too. Rgds, Lise

    1. Sporty isn't one of my descriptive words, Lise, as it's a more limiting and specific word (like preppy, for example). Instead, it's a vibe I like to play with, but it falls under Badass and Joyful for me. Edgy would be a good descriptor word for YOU, maybe, and that could incorporate elements of sporty themes. It's complicated! :-D

I know, I love matching my hair to my clothes!

  2. This is one of the many dresses of yours that fall under the heading of ‘absolutely some of my favorites’. That got me thinking…what are the odds of your compiling a photo gallery of, for instance, jammy dresses…? It is a hugely selfish request but I would gobble up (translation: swoon, seek to find a similar dress) such a collection.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Oh, thank you so much, Laurie! The odds are low - I'm at capacity writing both the blog (which I want to keep doing, recording almost daily) and the Substack (more mental power needed, as it has more writing), and keeping up with comments. Personal taste varies so much - what's a good Jammy Dress for me might not be for you! In general, dresses that make you feel great, have pockets and go with a lot in your closet. Kind of an "I know it when I see it" thing.

    3. I'm not doing a gallery, but I do have a theme going on this week for Substack. Just for you! ;-P

  3. That dress has such a groovilicious pattern, and layering it with the lavender mesh top was an excellent idea! But oh do I hate it when nobody tells me about my tag hanging out. I even tell total strangers ... Swooning over the buttery yellow Docs. xxx

    1. I know!! Why did no one in my office tell me!? ARG.
I'm so glad I have these Docs, they are fabulously comfy (especially since I added a sport insole).
