Reader Warning: Dark mornings are on the way - I'll do the best I can with the Stair Pics.
- Dress - Kenzo, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2023 with this same belt
- Jacket (below) - Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, consignment; last seen here in May with a purple skirt and stripes
- Boots - Clarks; last worn here in June with a Desigual Jammy Dress
- Raincoat (below) - Ilse Jacobsen; first worn here on Monday
It was gloomy and rainy all day, but still a bit warm.
The Castle looks cozy - I'd like to read in that tower room for the day.
I've had this dress since 2019 - it's by Kenzo, likely early 00s, found for only $68.00 - and I've worn it 8 times.
I've often worn it with this belt and once before with these boots, but never both at the same time. The dress is 100% cotton, so it falls into the shoulder season.
The colours are not really summery, but I can't risk Cotton Rage by keeping it out in winter. I've done it before and eh, too much hassle to make it winter-appropriate. I have lots of fall/winter clothes, and I'm not going to miss it by packing it away.

The construction of the dress is a wonder - squared sections, buttons here and there holding folds in place. It has a built-in white cotton liner/slip.
I often refer to it as Cinderella's ashes or something along those lines - it reminds me of rainy sidewalks.

I alternated the Vivienne Westwood jacket on and off.
It does complete the look well. I'm practically profesh!

...Rain-PICKLE!
You couldn't miss me in this, and in fact a lot of people smiled at me, and a gentleman at a crosswalk pointed out a rainbow to me.

The stuff:
I've had these boots for 10 years now, and they're still going strong. I've worn them 16 times since I Flashbacked them (enjoy the old pics here), for 47 wearings overall. I'm down to $4 per wear (I paid $199 for them).

Creepy bling:
I'm excited to get all of my creepy things back in my closet/jewelry box. I was able to add a little with my gold/amber ant and the shark jaw cuff.

I'm getting very excited about the Closet Swap-Over - this weekend!
Gorgeous dress and looks totally awesome with the VW jacket. I would wear it in summer for sure, either with barely there flat metalic sandals if extremely hot, or with flat stompy boots at night. To me it has an edgy vibe that can be brought out. Your green raincoat is functional and cute. I love that shade of green. Lise
ReplyDeleteI love your styling of it, Lise. If I didn't have so many dresses (and I had a pair of gold sandals (I need those!!)) I would probably wear it in a more summery way. Thank you!
DeleteThe dress just gets better and better with each wearing! Ditto Lise’s comment - totally awesome with the VW jacket. And if a hairstyle can be part of an outfit (I think it can :)) then your recent haircut is the perfect topper to your ensemble.
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring me to wear my fall dresses, one of which is cotton in autumnal colors.
I was inspired by your previous posts to begin swapping my seasonal clothes. Decided to be ruthless and donate pieces that have not seen the light of day for two years (except for special pieces). Am going to proceed slowly (at the moment I have lots of free time. ;))
Looking forward to seeing your closet swap post(s)!
Cheers, Laurie
I just love it, Laurie - it's a classic for me. Aw, thank you - still playing around with the hair, and liking how it goes wavy in the damp, but can't seem to replicate that with a hairdryer and product, lol.
DeleteOh, I love that - I hope you wore your autumnal dress! Take your time and don't donate anything rashly. Give it time to sit and see if anything sticks in your mind - those are the things to take back as regret-me-nots.
Many plans this weekend, which are messing with my intent of doing the closet. It will happen, though!
I wore the dress :) and will heed your suggestion regarding potential forget-me-nots. Thanks!
Deletethe rain pickle is totally delightful as well as immensely useful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julia!
DeleteI love your rain pickle! So cute.
ReplyDeleteLoving the colour of those boots and belt too and the Kenzo dress is really pretty and soft-looking. PLease explain cotton rage to me?! I went to a party and this girl kept calling me Kenzo!x
I do enjoy being silly with my clothes, Kezzie!
DeleteCotton Rage is like Velvet Rage - certain cottons, especially thin, handkerchief-weight ones like this dress, tend to cling to other fabrics. When you wear a coat or thick tights, the cotton fabric sticks...and starts to climb up your body. I've ended up with skirts up around my waist, or blouses twisting, or sleeves riding up to my armpits. Some fabrics just don't work well together.
This is a outfit I would wear immediately. Of course the jacket is amazing, but I love the hole vibe of the look. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy! I could see you in it!
DeleteI'm not surprised you've worn the Kenzo dress with that massive belt before, they are just made for each other! The Vivienne Westwood jacket is a perfect companion too. And ooh, here's my favourite amber spider brooch again as well. Definite spooky vibes here! xxx P.S. Have fun with your Closet Swap-over. I'm trying to find the get-up-and-go to make a start with mine.
ReplyDeleteYes, the dress has a lot of blousy business around the middle, which I need to tuck into the belt or it looks like my boobs are resting on my hips! Not a look I favour, Ann, needless to say! I love that brooch too - but it's an ant (only 6 legs). :-)
DeleteSuch a unique dress. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ivana!
DeleteI second Ann. The Vivienne Westwood jacket and Kenzo dress are a heavenly match and perfect for the transition to Autumn. The hemline of that dress is divine!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the dress the coolest thing? When you pull the sides out, they are squares.
DeleteI love your Kenzo dress and Vivienne Westwood jacket, they look great together! The green coat is fabulous too!

Thank you so much, Emma!
DeleteOh I LOVE your rain pickle, Shiela. It is just perfect. X
ReplyDeleteI do too! I love being extra-visible on the grey days too, Jess!
DeleteThe dress and jacket are such a good combo! That mac is brilliant, I have some IJ handmade wellies, best things ever! xxx
ReplyDeleteThey have the wellies at Dots too, but none in my size - boo!
