Coral Cocoon and a Bonus Necklace!

Today's outfit features one of my favourite summer Jammy Dresses, my coral cocoon.
It's super-vibrant! Is it orange? Is it red? Is it pink? YES! It's coral!

  • Dress - Cos, consignment; last worn here here in July 2023 with snakeskin stuff
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here here in May with snaky bookends
  • Short kimono (below) - Buffalo David Bitten, consignment, Vancouver; first worn here here in April with an old 80s formula

And it has ginormous pockets!
Note the amazing bell shape of the skirt, and yes, the back dips down slightly lower than the front. There is actually a horizontal seam a third of the way up the dress, which is what pulls it in closer around the legs.

It's a silk/cotton blend with cotton lining. I realized partway through my photos that I was going to have to be bare-legged today.
Nylons are clingy with fine cotton. I slipped into a pair of silky shorts for thigh security.

I was waiting for the crosswalk after running an errand at lunch and a group of lovely ladies gasped at my outfit. "Are you a fashionista?"
Yes, of course I am! I hope that made their day - a real Fashionista sighting in the wilds of downtown Victoria! Very rare...

Incognito and kimono'd.
I have to lift the dress so that I can take my huge strides when I walk - otherwise, it hobbles my step. It's only a bother when I'm walking-as-transportation, not wearing it in the office, though.

It started cloudy and chilly this morning.
I liked how this kimono gave me a bit of warmth and full sun coverage.

The stuff:
I adore these shoes, but my feet are a bit tired after today's walking around.

Silvery bling:
I loved wearing this Goth-y necklace - I wore it in the shorter setting.

  • Heart crystal bracelet - Juicy Couture, consignment
  • Crystal hinged cuff - Swarovski, consignment, gift from L
  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted; purchased here here for $3.95
  • Earrings - thrifted, Seattle
  • Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower

I noticed that it wasn't laying fully flat on me, and felt the two little loops hiding in the back here.
It has ANOTHER setting, and it's shorter!

Mind blown! It's three in one!
I feel like I just got a bonus necklace! This was certainly worth the $3.95 I paid for it.

    1. This is much more me than the fit and flare red dress I wore for L's birthday lunch a couple of weeks ago, Vix! Thanks!

  4. Jammy dress and elegant shoes paired with gorgeous kimono and jewelry - my favorite being the 3-layered bracelet - a definite fashionista statement! Did you give any of the ladies your card? Hmm, come to think of it, your business card should be updated to include the tag line: as seen in the pages of… (I’ve forgotten the name of the magazine!) :)

    1. I did not give them a card, as I was only running an errand from the office with the bare minimum, Laurie. Ha! Tweed Magazine!

  5. Sheila, my wife and I are wondering how to make a vintage clothing donation to you (2' x 2' box)? We are in Canada near Hamilton, ON. My wife thinks you have friends there? If not, no problem, just thought we'd offer.

    1. That is very sweet of you to think of me, but I have more vintage than I could ever possibly need or want. Please look for a vintage store near you and donate your beautiful things. Yes, your wife's right, my good friend lives in Hamilton (however, she's a bit of a pack-rat - like me!). Thank you so much for reading! <3
