Another week, and I'm eyeing all those backwards hangers - not a ton of them, but still a few. I built this outfit around this suede jacket, which has been languishing in the closet.
As you probably guessed from the post title, I'm letting go of it. I have lots of good memories, but it doesn't ring my bell anymore.
- Suede jacket - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, consignment; last worn way back here (3rd outfit) in October 2024 for our Hallowe'en party
- Sweater - Papillon, thrifted; last seen here in January with leopard
- Velvet skirt - Rachel Roy, thrifted; last worn here in November 2025 with gold and brocade
- Boots - F-Trip Warhol, Fluevog; last seen here in November 2025 with a red sweater dress
- Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here earlier this month
It's snug, has no pockets and I just never reach for it.
"Reach for meeeeee...."
I did my best to give it a good work outfit send-off - I like this outfit overall.
"I love you!"
The sweater is just a boring cream one but the velvet skirt is gorgeous. And the boots!
The stuff:
Gold and black bling:
Barnabas photobombs me in the morning, but Whateley is my constant companion at night.
Great wavy grooviness! So awesome.
- Hat - gift from Tammy
- Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, vintage fair
- Fur scarf - thrifted
- Leather gloves - Roeckl, consignment

- Earrings - vintage fair
- Gold-tone bracelet - thrifted

I think there's something about this time of year, the coming of Spring and rebirth and all that which makes us assess our wardrobes. I feel a lot lighter shedding stuff that no longer gives me the joy it once did!
ReplyDeleteBarnabas is obviously a jewellery connoisseur (you've trained him well) and Whateley is just bonkers (like William!!) xxx
I think Whateley is thinking of adding to his jewelry stash…
ReplyDeleteFie on the jacket, out with the 'just not right' and in with what rings your bells! Over the past several months I've been gradually donating clothing that I haven't reached for in years or that no longer sits on my body with comfort and class. It's been therapeutic to purge and make room!
The items that were most difficult to part with were two gorgeous shoes that I've had for many, many, many years and both in excellent condition. The heels were too high – brown suede pumps with a chunky 2.5 inch heel and orange/green shoes with flexible material that wrapped around the base of the toes and to put them on you stepped through the material than then wrapped around the ankles, also with a chunky 3 inch heels). I have likely noted this on some previous comment so perhaps the need to note it again is part of the process of giving something away that held a special place. ;-)
Cheers, Laurie
I need to do a clear out of clothes that don't get worn. It is a beautiful jacket, and someone will be thrilled to have it. Those boots are incredible.

I've made some new friends at the art museum, and I've been able to donate so many things to them. I have changed and my style has changed. I hate sending things to the consignment store where I get pennies on the dollar (then they charge me fees for each month I don't get a check for which they charge a fee). I'd rather give them to someone who will love them and wear them! Those boots are just the coolest ever! I love how 70s they are (or is it 60s...I was alive during both)!

The great thing about getting rid of something is that you make room for something new to come in!

ReplyDeleteHe's after the earrings!!! I adore those boots, they are so cool! Pity about the jacket but if you don't wear it, no point. Nice colour!!
ReplyDeleteI am going through your posts, trying to catch up. I am not commenting much (still have a husband with his arm in a cast), but I must say that with this outfit, the necklace is so good with those fab boots.
