It's always been a favourite in my wardrobe, but I was in for a big disappointment today.
- Silk blouse - Evidence, vintage 80s, consignment; last seen here in July 2025 bookending sequins
- PVC embroidered jacket - Frank Lyman; last worn here (2nd outfit) to the Fluevog sample sale in November 2024
- Suede skirt - Kelco Leather, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in January for our trip to Powell River
- Shoes - Swordfish Marquis, Fluevog; last worn here (but not seen) in November 2025 for our Hallowe'en party
- Cocoon vest (below) - B. Young; last seen here in January, although I often wear it for grocery shopping
I layered a long-sleeved cobalt blue silk shirt under it - I shoved the jacket sleeves up so that the blue cuffs peeked out.
This rose-pink suede skirt is one of my favourites. So soft. Barnabas is definitely a cuddler - and he emulate anything his brother does. Whateley is the one we have to keep off the curtains/table/dresser/computer desk.
Whateley is not the sharpest cat we've ever had...he's clever, but not as intellectual as I make him out to be.
"I resemble these remarks." "I hear beeping!"
My little cuddly ninja psycho monkey is not a brain trust either, and is a bit of a terror if he is denied something.
I appreciate the cuddles every morning! He's so funny.
So, back to the jacket which is just everything I've ever wanted in a moto jacket...except that it's not real leather. I bought it in January 2018 for $177.00 (minus a bunch of gift cards from Mom), and wore it 16 times - that pleased me.
And now, it's peeling off at the nape of the neck (probably from sweating in it) in great chunks. DISAPPOINTING. Fake leather degrades over time, sigh.
I was amused at all the hair caught in the (real) metal disco ball studs.
Some of that's my mine, some is Yvonne's! Since the peeling is only on the rear collar right now, I'm going to keep this jacket for the time being. It's just so cool - I don't want to get rid of it just for that relatively small amount of disintegration. If it starts peeling on more visible areas, then I'll have a decision to make.
Incognito - the weather was grey with some sun.
By the time I walked home, it was a beautiful warm light.

The stuff:
I thought you might find this amusing.
The first attempt at the bling picture! That's Whateley's paw and he bumped the camera.
I walked to and from work in these shoes - they're totally comfortable.
- Silk scarf - Fluevog
- Leather gloves - consignment

Let's try that again! Spring bling.
A bug for the roses.

- Silver/lapis lazuli bracelet - Nepalese, consignment
- Silver/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

Two little kittens and I looked out the window at the lovely sunset.
No caption needed.

Oh, those last two photos of the kitties! They may not be smart, but they sure are pretty! It's too bad about your jacket because it is definitely cool. I always feel bad that I don't get excited about faux leather. But, this is why as well as it's just not the same as real. It doesn't breathe at all. Love that blue with the suede skirt and the jacket, too!

Aw, cute kitties! Who needs brains with faces like those?
ReplyDeleteYour jacket is lovely, but it's so annoying that it's peeling. Could a bit of paint-on latex fix it? I swore off fake leather after I had a handbag 'go' on me on holiday and cover me in speckles, but I blamed that on sunblock being corrosive, it never occurred to me it might be sweat!
Lovely looking jacket but this is inevitable with some fake leathers, if not most. All of my past fake items have degraded even without wear sometimes. Aah the kitties are so cute.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the fake leather erosion, but maybe you will get a lot more wearing out of it yet. I just found the same problem on the fingertips of the gloves I was wearing today.
ReplyDeleteThe kittens are so adorable gazing out of the window together.
I'm salivating over that Lapis bracelet! xxx
ReplyDeleteThose kitty gazing photos are utterly adorable! They are so attractive!
ReplyDeleteI am very sad on your behalf for that jacket. Both my fake leather jackets have done exactly the same. One worse than the other! I don't mind about the black one but the brown one is my Screen Accurate Clara one I wear for loads of outfits.
I love the cobalt!
Fie on the leather peel and love on the cat profiles as they inwardly awe over the setting of the sun! Big YAYs for the color of your silk blouse, your skirt and that fabulous cocoon coat!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Laurie
oh nooooo! Not the degrading jacket! I wonder if a coat of clear nail polish might keep it holding on just a little longer...? That close up of the studs though was a nice surprise! I didn't realize those studs were little disco balls. Makes this jacket even cooler, which I really didn't think was possible.
ReplyDeleteLooking fab, as always. I'm loving seeing the kitties so much. They're so fun! Just like you!! :)
Nail polish dissolves plastic, unfortunately. There is no way to save degrading fake leather.
DeleteSorry about that jacket as I agree is particularly lovely (and fits you like a dream!) but you're right that fake leather finally degrades (it annoys me particularly when a favourite bag looks 'peeled').
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you're looking fab in that jacket and cute skirt and Fabulous Shoes!.
And those boys are totally stealing the show, aren't they cute!?
