All Favourites: Silk Palazzos and Darth Duster

Some exciting news! Mom was recognized in the wild! A lovely person stopped her while she was out shopping, and said she read my blog! So, hello, Jacqueline (? Mom didn't quite catch your name, sorry). Thank you so much - that was such a thrill for Mom, and I love that you're out there! Thanks so much for reading.

I'm in a hurry - gotta eat and dash off to Book Club! This is what I wore to work.
It's a kaleidoscope of colour!

  • Wool cardigan - Ports, vintage 80s, consignment; last worn here in May for a delayed Star Wars Day
  • Cotton bustier - H&M, consignment; first seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2024 for brunch
  • Shirt - Denver Hayes, consignment; last worn here in June in a "cropped and socked" outfit
  • Silk pants - Pinkerton, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in August 2024 for brunch and a wee shop
  • Sandals - Wonders; last worn here in June in that same outfit as the pink shirt

I wore it mostly like this, with my wool duster over everything.
This long duster cardigan/dress is one of my treasures. The colour! The pockets! The colour!

The silk stretchy-waist palazzo pants are also a long-time favourite. They have pockets too.
The silk is really thin, so I have a very small window to wear them, but I was reminded of how much I like them. I'll have to sneak in another wear before I swap my closet at the end of September.

I did overheat a few times - that's what I get for wearing wool in summer! - so I planned the outfit without it, of course.
I really liked the pink top and red bustier with the patterned pants. Showing off my ink!

I appreciate the stretch panel in the back, although it would be better in red, not black. Just sayin', H&M.
At least the straps are adjustable on the bustier.

Incognito.
One man gave me a very wide berth as I was walking home. My Darth Sheila vibe was strong!

The stuff:
These sandals are so comfy, even though the sole is rigid. Another favourite here!

I changed my shoes for the walk to Yvonne's.
Perfect for a short walk.

The other stuff:
I never thought sequined pink sneakers would be so versatile!

Bright bling:
I knew I hung onto this big floral bead necklace for a reason.

  • Blue eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Teal eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Gold/turquoise ring - consignment
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment, Vancouver

And now, head to toe in favourite clothes, I'm off!

  1. How lovely of Jacqueline to say hello to your mum - you're both celebrities!
Those trousers are fab on you, you'd not look out of place in Evil Under the Sun (1981), that uber stylish Agatha Christie film! That cardi was a cracking find! xxx

    1. Isn't that the nicest thing? I know I love it when people recognize me, and can only imagine that Mom is still enjoying the glow.
Thanks! I love all of this!

  3. How amazing that your mum was recognized in the wild!
But that man giving you a wide birth made me laugh out loud. It's one thing being given the side-eye, but this is a completely other level :-)
Your outfit did make my heart sing: those palazzos are fabulous, and yes, the colour of that cardigan is just fantastic! I'm also loving that necklace very much! xxx

  5. Yay Helen, you can no longer be out and about incognito!
Sheila, loving the color and pizzazz of your outfit, and especially noticing the colorful necklace and your bracelets. On the vibrancy meter this outfit scores an 11 (out of 10)! Much good to be said of those colorful print silk trousers and the fabulous cobalt blue duster! But…wool…in summer?!?! We are just coming out - literally as I type this and a storm is rolling in - of another few days of high 80s/low 90s temps and high humidity. So difficult to imagine wearing wool.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. It was an interesting experience for Mom, a little thrill, Laurie!
Thank you so much - those necklaces are so NOT in fashion, but I still love them. I have 3-4 eelskin bangles that I've collected.
I loved this outfit - it felt very creative and "me". I know, but our summer temps are not that hot (it's rarely over 80). Also, I am very bad at dressing for the weather!
