Blue Toile and Shocking Yellow

The weather's cooled off from our heatwave of a couple of weeks ago. I have to go back to layers!
I usually wear this dress in July or August when it's really hot.

  • Dress - PartTwo, consignment; last seen here in July 2024 with pink shoes
  • Blazer (below) - Moda International, vintage 00s, thrifted; last worn here in April with my blossoms skirt
  • Shoes - Karl Lagerfeld; last seen here in July 2024 with my Etro swirly dress

I must consult the weather predictions a little more closely - my arms have been freezing lately.
The tiers in this dress move and shimmy when I walk. Toile is not usually a pattern I gravitate to, but the style of the dress wins me over.

It's a classic Jammy Dress.
All I need to do is pick shoes. I've worn it with lavender, blue, black and white, and pink shoes (and my Star Wars "I Know" shoes twice). I should do orange!

Shockingly, I have never worn yellow with it before.
I'm a fan of yellow and blue.

I wore a jacket for walk to/from work, but by the time noon rolled around...
I ended up wearing the blazer for the rest of the day. I liked this look too.

Buttoned up and incognito.
I briefly considered a matchy belt, but eh, too fussy.

The stuff:
I folded this scarf to show the most yellow.

  • Silk scarf - Italian, thrifted
  • Fabric flower - Le Chateau, I think? c. 2008

Bold bling:
I don't have a very big yellow set.

  • Yellow cuff - thrifted
  • Filigree cuff - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, 2010
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Bakelite earrings - vintage 60s, vintage fair

Off to check the forecast!

  2. I love how material can fool the eye. In the stair picture it looked like this was a two part outfit with the top hanging loosely over the skirt, even though I’ve seen this dress before! The yellow brings cheer to the outfit (I appreciate when you wear yellow, especially as accents :-)) I always appreciate your filigree bracelet – besides being the best kind of souvenir there is something special about filigree and I like to imagine someone coming up with the pattern that will be used.
    Cheers, Laurie

  3. I love that dress, it always looks fabulous when you wear it and works brilliantly with the yellow accents and the stripey blazer - very European chic! xxx
