I started feeling a little stuffy on Tuesday evening, and woke up to a deep raspy voice on Wednesday. I went to work for an hour, to batten down the hatches and ensure my colleagues wouldn't worry.
I'm surprised that I haven't worn this leather-front top since last September! So many clothes, it's easy to forget pieces (even though my closet is very visually-oriented, it still happens). But this is a Forever piece - it goes with everything and gives me that "Insta-Rock" feeling whenever I wear it. It was a pandemic purchase and I've worn it nearly a dozen times.
The newly-purchased sequined skirt was lovely to wear - I went barelegged, and felt it scratch slightly. This tells me to never wear nylons or tights with it!
Emilie at House of Savoy was wearing the same style of shoe with a long slinky skirt when I was in during the weekend. She had paired sparkly baggy sheer black socks with them, and I was highly intrigued by the look.

For me, socks + shoes has always veered either very touristy (white socks and Birkenstocks) or ZZ Top's "Legs" video (a seminal influence on my teen style). It feels like that's something I need to challenge and/or play with! I need to let go of my preconceived notions about How To Dress or What Is Appropriate For My Age.
Incognito.
One hour wasn't enough time to wear this liquid silver skirt - I'll have to sneak in another wearing of it soon.

No Mom-Day this week, as I can't risk getting Mom sick. And now...back to bed. Thanks so much for dropping by!
Oh I LOVE this skirt and that top with it! Also I think that you could definitely rock socks and sandals, I know you could! Sorry to hear you've been sick. We have had a very rough winter so far, catching everything possible unfortunately. Still recovering from a bout of the flu that had us all in our bed for days too. Only got up for trips to the hospital for the kids when they got really bad, as I'd been waiting for a gap in the sickness for us to be well enough for the flu vaccine. That really messed us up not having that :(
ReplyDeleteAlso had to pop in and copy this comment response in case you miss if - I don't want you worrying about Cooper at all!
Coops is still as uninterested in my photo taking as ever! We adopted Bonnie to be a little friend for him as he's getting quite old and thought they could curl up together and she'd keep him young! They are not quite there yet as she has a lot of puppy energy, haha!
Hoping by the time you read the comments you will be feeling quite a bit better! The skirt and top go so perfectly with one another, each strong enough in its own right to play nicely together. Being a sandals lover, yours are just right, especially as they have a heel that looks comfortable in height. As for fancy socks, go for it! You have the panache to carry the look though I think it’s more a matter of the type of sock and the style of the sandal. You could also try ‘no show’ socks for a wee pop of color but without impacting the ankles.
ReplyDeleteI hope your body is returning (or has returned) to equilibrium!
Cheers, Laurie
So sorry to hear you've been stricken with the plague! Sending oodles of healing vibes your way!
ReplyDeleteThe leather-front top is the perfect companion to your newly-purchased sequined skirt and it's a yes from me on fancy socks with sandals, so do give it a try! xxx
Oh no, I'm sorry you've been ill. There's some horrible virus doing the rounds here, too - Jon and I are sanitising our hands after every charity shop jut in case.
ReplyDeleteLove that sequin skirt on you. Socks with sandals has been a big thing here with the cool kids for a few years now, this year it's all about knee high socks with trainers and hot pants - great when you can't be arsed with shaving your legs, not so great for tan lines! xxx
Sorry about the plague! Hope you are better or improving.
ReplyDeleteI like the skirt very much (and the sandals look commmmmfy!) but hope the scratchy wasn't too annoying!x
