Last Blue Velvet and Brocade

I knew today would be busy, and I woke up with a pounding headache. It's the damned pink blossoms and their nasty pollen!
"Is that why you keep sneezing?"

Probably, bud! Anyway, a dress was in the cards, plus I wanted to wear these boots again.

  • Velvet dress - COS, thrifted; last worn here in April 2025 with copper and brown boots
  • Boots - Spring Step by L'Artiste; last seen here (2nd outfit) in February with black cashmere and the Elmo coat
  • Puffer coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last worn here in February

The dress is SHORT, and felt just a little TOO short for me right now.
"I'm ignoring you."

It just didn't ring my bell, and you know I didn't pay much for it. My cost-per-wear is $3.

Incognito. We've had a sudden drop in temps with snow up-Island, but no sign of it down here.
Puffer time! I also picked a coat that wouldn't give me Velvet Rage.

The stuff:
Probably the last wearing of these brocade boots for the season. They have plush velvet lining, and are roasting hot, making them unsuitable for warm temps.

  • Scarf - Givenchy, consignment, gift from L
  • Angora beret - Parkhurst, thrifted
  • Gloves - thrifted

Brass bling:
These are favourite pieces.

  • Brass slash cuff - Midzo, vintage expo
  • Brass/leather etched cuff - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Stone ring - thrifted
  • Brass ring - vintage mall
  • Earrings - vintage mall
  • Brass/glass necklace and ring - Raphael of Canada, vintage 70s, consignment

L and I are loving watching the kittens discover spring for the first time.
Kitties in the sun! Barnabas looks so happy.

They're going to love the deck once it's warm enough to have the doors open again.
"I love the sun!"

Whateley's turn.
"I approve of this warmth. More!"

Sweet boys.

  1. Hmm, velvet, I detect a pattern…. ;) Your jewelry is just perfect! I appreciate your brass (and copper). I see both as warm tones and especially friendly to fair skin tones like you (and I) have. Plus you have an interesting collection!
Those boots! Such a work of art. :) As for your dress, it’s a lush blue color (maybe due to it being velvet?) and I hear you regarding the length. I see it as a tunic rather than a dress. Maybe just a semantic distinction but with jammy dresses it’s the clean lines and shorter length that says ‘tunic’ to me rather than ‘dress’.
Makes me smile to see Barnabas and Whateley basking in the rays. Ahhh…
    Cheers, Laurie

  2. I hope you got over your headache quickly. I think I would find that dress a little short, too, although with the tall boots and the dark tights it works quite well. I meant to tell you that I snagged a lovely, long, flared purple skirt in a thrift store last week for under $9!

  3. Oh, the jewelry/jammy dress/brocade boots combo is divine! However, I totally get what you mean about the dress length. A bang-up farewell wearing, though! ReaderRita

  4. Sorry that allergies season is coming!, so annoying!.
That minidress looks fab, probably it doesn't look as 'too short' in the photos because of the boots, but totally understand if you don't feel it anymore. Great idea to wear a puffer to avoid 'velvet rage', mwhaha, sometimes the wrong coat ruins my mood too (and rage is becoming my default mode!, damn menopause). Those boots are really amazing and your jewellery collection is totally Fabulous!
    besos
