Presto, Change-O!

I had a pretty crazy day yesterday: I filled in at the Thursday WW meeting again, and I filled in at another meeting in another area of town a few hours after the first one ended.

I topped off my evening by drinking a bottle of wine! Huzzah!

This is what I wore to the first meeting:
The blouse and skirt are both new, from the Plum close-out sale. I am kicking myself for not buying the skirt in chocolate brown as well as this rich charcoal grey - it was gone when I went back to check yesterday.

The blouse was $20 on sale (regular $69), and I love the shape of it, especially the collar/neckline. I did have to add the cami because it was rather cleavage-y. It was made in Canada.
The skirt is a nice thick double-knit poly-blend, again, made in Canada. It was $25, regular $75. It's got a high waist and no slit, which I was a little worried about for walking, but the stretchiness of it made it awesome. How much do I love pencil skirts? Well, duh.

Unfortunately, that shirt's collar did not lay flat and stay nice for the morning meeting - it drove me absolutely NUTS by shifting around and not laying flat. I was so annoyed by it that it's going straight into the consignment bag. Bah! It's gotta go!

I changed into my other white shirt for the evening meeting:
Same cami underneath, and added L's cufflinks (previously worn here). I liked this a whole lot more, comfort-wise.

Before I get to the stuff, I want to give a shout-out to my dear friend Cat. I got to weigh her in yesterday, and be the first to see her back at her goal weight (and no longer paying!). She started WW a month after I did, so we've sort of been doing it together for all these years (just over 4 years). Cat, I am so damned proud of you. You are an amazing woman!

The stuff:
My glorious Fluevog "Listen Up" Audrey shoes. My reds aren't matching in this outfit (the cami is a deep raspberry shade), but whatever, close enough! I love this Smoking Lily obi.

A (blurry) close-up:
I like the mix of gold with grey to really make it pop.

Oh, and at Terri's request, here's my WW nametag:
I'm real!

Short-sleeved blouse (Tobias), long-sleeved blouse (Banana Republic, thrifted), cami (gift from Ruth), skirt (Plum), shoes (Fluevog "Listen Up" Audrey), obi (Smoking Lily, consignment), necklace (Foxy), cufflinks (L's, vintage Hickok), earrings (gift from L).

Schlumpy Vest

So. This is the vest I got while out shopping on Friday night:
I love the button detailing on the front, the nice soft heathered grey colour.

But what I don't love...it's linen. And after wearing it all day, it got very schlumpy bumpy lumpy in the middle. Ugh.
I need a vest that is of stiffer fabric and construction. Sorry, linen vest, you're going to go live with someone who will appreciate your unique appeal: Ruth!

On the plus side, I forgot how well these pants fit! Awesome length for a 3" heel, too.

The stuff: The blue shoes make another appearance (not even 2 weeks has gone by!). What the heck did I do before I got cobalt blue shoes? Good golly.

The bigass white cuff is from the $10 grab bag.

A close-up of the rings:
The left one I'd totally forgotten about!

Vest (Kensie), blouse (French Connection, consignment), pants (Calvin Klein, consignment), shoes (Feet First), ring (Nine West), blue stone ring (Scotland, handmade), earrings (Plum), cuff (consignment).

Casual Friday - Angels Become Devils

My poor feet are aching.

Yesterday, I decided to walk to work in my casual clothes. I dragged out my old Fluevog Angels, which I've had for about 9 years. I haven't worn them in about 4 years. I used to walk to town and shop all day in them. I figured they'd be fine to walk 40 minutes to work.
Look. How cute?
Oh, but I was wrong. They rubbed my heels so badly. It felt like I was wearing someone else's shoes! My heels both blistered badly, and are swaddled in bandaids today so that I could get around.

Fortunately, I had a pair of light Keds in my desk at work that I was able to wear all day (very attractive they were: white Mary Jane shoes with black socks! Ha! No pictures of that!).

But I realized while I was limping along: the Fluevogs WERE someone else's shoes. The old me. The fat me. The nearly-200-lb me from 4 years ago. My feet are a different shape now, because I'm 50+ pounds lighter.

Sadly, the 'Vogs are going to the consignment shop. Oh well, at least I'll probably get about $50 credit for them!

Today, I shuffled around in my boots, out for lunch and a CD shop:
My rock 'n' roll weekend casual uniform: layered long-sleeved shirt with graphic tee, skirt (not demin today, because it's too heavy for the scale when I go to Weight Watchers), funky tights and low-heeled boots.

Have a great weekend!
Cashmere sweater (J. McLaughlin, consignment), silk/cotton long-sleeved tee (Banana Republic, thrifted), jeans (Seven7, gift from Caro), shoes (Fluevog "Angels").

They've Gotta Go - Mom Jeans!

My work did a B.C. Olympics day today - things are crazy in Vancouver over the Olympics - and we all had to wear red and white. Woo! Go, Canada!

Despite my love for red, I had a hard time coming up with an outfit.

LOOK AWAY FROM THE MOM JEANS:
No, look up here!

I (fortunately?) spilled coffee on these jeans at 9:30 this morning, so they are toast. Gone. No more 8" zipper! Much as I love high-waisted, on pants, it's gotta be a really wide-legged drapey trouser for me. These are gone!
Look at my patriotism! All that red and white/cream! Ignore the thighs in the unflattering pants!

Jacket (Nine and Company, thrifted), blouse (Talbots, consignment), jeans (Parasuco, thrifted), boots (Zara, consignment), belt (Plum).

Low Heels Week - Getting Higher?

So, these aren't exactly low heels, I know! But on the other hand, they are not as high as they look.
The heel (a nice chunky block for you chunky heel fans) is 3.5" high...but the platform is a good 3/4", close to a full inch, so they are under 3". And boy, are they comfy!

The burning question is: Will she go flat for Casual Friday? Oh, the suspense is killing me!

The stuff:
Played off the putty background mix in this skirt (the top under the cardigan is that bright cobalt blue). I'm tossing the earrings, since they wouldn't stay on and the "gold" is rubbing off.

Cardigan (Express, thrifted), top (Oxmo), skirt (Mexx), belt (gift from Mom), shoes (Camper), bracelet (The Bay), earrings (gonzo!).

It's All a Big Blur

I meant to do a push-ups update, but forgot to take my pictures. You must take my word for it that my pipes are large. I feel strong! I can open jars!

Here's a picture of me looking like a bouncer:
"You're not going to come in here wearing THAT, are you?"

Heh heh.

I was mostly displeased with this outfit, especially the top half. This jacket, while a great colour and made of the Best Fabric Ever (velvet, duh), just doesn't fit very well. It's also a bit long for my torso. Add to the list of things I must replace.

I do love the skirt though: Twirl, twirl! I look like an impressionist painting. Or not.

The stuff: The glory that are my Fluevog boots! The great bigass yellow bangle! The awesome necklace from Cat! And of course, the painty skirt.

Gotta go...day off tomorrow - thank you, BC, for making Remembrance Day a stat holiday! And of course, a deep and heartfelt thank you for all of the Canadian war veterans. Peace.

Jacket (RW & Co), cami (InWear), skirt (Nine West), boots (Fluevog), bangle (thrifted), necklace (gift from Cat), earrings (gift from L).
