Sheila Figs - Finished Evil Elf (Drow) Fighter Chick

A single small figure is such a relief after that bloody Pit Fiend. This is a female evil elf (called a Drow).

I forgot to take a picture of her unprimered, but here she is with just primer and skin painted.
Base black colour for her hair (which will be silver) and the 3 tones of blue for her armour and clothing.
And *voila!* like magic, after 6 hours, she's done. Highlighting done on everything: skin, armour, clothing. Eyes done, and details finished (note the spider on the base).
I gave her armour a bit of a sparkle - I decided it was magical. A shot of the back and her long silvery hair.
Not so practical for fighting, but it means I don't have to paint much on her back which is fine by me!

SL Garrity is the name of the person who created the original figure. She (her name is Susan, I believe) does a lot of female figures, which are my favourite.

Hope you enjoyed the new figs!

L Figure - Elf Fighter!

L finished this guy this week while he was off (it was his birthday, so he took the week off work...yes, I was jealous).
Good colour palate on the clothing.
Great job on the face! It's hard to get the eyes right.
Nice detail on the border of the cloak. I think I would have done a bit more complicated pattern, but that's just me.

Sheila Figs - Odds and Ends

I have a serious backlog of pictures to post - I'm going to try to get them up today so that I will only have newer pictures hereon in.

This is a female dwarf fighter that I just fell in love with: I really like how she turned out. I like the skin and the folds of the cloth came out well.
Lots of good detail on her.

I call this the "Inigo pony" - it's a horse-type creature and I matched its markings to my cat, Inigo, right down to his pink nose and toes.
Comparison of Inigo:The shading on this piece is good. The elf girl is kind of weird-looking. Nice fur bikini. How can you tell that men create these figures?
Crazy frog demon:
Another one of the first floor polish pieces I did. I really like the pattern on his skin. I am really pleased with his details; they look just right to me.
A really old piece! I did this one probably close to 10 years ago - it's about 15 cm tall. This is a limited edition figure (1551 of 5000, I think that says). It's a 5-headed dragon (Tahkesis, if you geek out on those sorts of things), and I did the entire thing without any putty, which meant I had to dry-fit all those necks onto the body perfectly and carve them until they fit right. The belly part is hollow so I put a little time-capsule in there; who I was, when I painted it, etc. I guess if this piece breaks next time we move, I can fix it. I like the idea of having that little surpise in there.
This one's recent. Evil fighter with owl helmet. He's an old figure, though - I've had him for about 10 years before he finally hit the painting table.
Not very exciting to paint.
The folds on the cloak are good.
This is one of my favourite dragon figures that I've done. I love the colours on it. This is a fire dragon with rider. I started by painting the entire dragon black and then brushing with dark red, orange, yelow and a bit of white to bring the colours and detail up on it.
Hee, I like the rider's seat.
A close-up of the head:
Scary!

L Figures - The Three Musketeers (and D'Artagnan)

L finished the three Musketeers last week. He wanted to have them look historically accurate (and also look like the musketeers in "The Man in the Iron Mask", a movie that we own), so he researched their outfits. I gave some tips on how to do the fleur-de-lis on the tabards. I think the musketeers look great - D'Artagnan is a bit of a goofy-looking figure (his face is weird), but that's not L's fault.

Good colour and detail. Painting all those decorations is pretty tricky.
Great face on this guy. Eyes are hard to do!
Porthos is a little starey, like someone much bigger than him is about to steal that ham hock he has in his left hand.
I wonder if it would hurt to be hit with a hunk of meat like that?
Yeah, I just don't like this figure.

A Backlog of Figures

I took some pictures of some of the more recent figs I've done - there's a bit of a backlog of photos, so this is pretty much one giant post full of pictures. Whoo hoo!

First up: Barbarian Fighter. He's supposed to look like he's a Northern fellow.
This guy's pretty recent. I like how his cloak turned out (it's supposed to be some sort of arctic wolf fur), and his shield looks cool (I handpaint all my designs - no decals!). Hmmm...flash is too bright.
Bartender: This is one of the village people; meaning, he will go in the Christmas village, at the Inn with all the other Inn staff and their customers. Our Christmas village is pretty cool. My bartender is one of the early floor polish figures - you can see how I was just getting the hang of the thin layers of paint on his apron and clothes.
He's got a bit of a weird eye thing going on - perhaps keeping an eye on a customer who might not pay for that ale? I wouldn't want to anger this barkeep.
These next two I am proud of: both are recent, within the last year.

Samurai Chick: I handpainted her flag. I really like her colour combination of blue and red. Her hair and face turned out really well.
I like her socks.

Purple Wizard with Dragon: This is one of my favourite pieces. Everything just came together perfectly on him. There isn't anything I would change. I love the way the purple and black on his cape fade together.

The gold looks really good on this guy - that's a Testors gold paint. Testors isn't great for painting in colour on figs (it's not an acrylic base, so you can't mix the colours or thin them), but their metallics are superior, especially gold and silver. Nice and shiny, they really look like metal.

That's it for now - gotta go for a walk!
