Tuesday WW Group - Coral for Spring

Ah, my last day off before I get back to the ol' grind. I'm excited/nervous about starting fresh - I'd been at my old job for 5 and a half years before they outsourced us - but with Spring finally arriving, everything feels like a fresh start!

I even decorated my flip charts for today's meeting with shamrocks and tulips. Unfortunately, I got caught in a flash rain storm on the way home and got completely soaked - at least it was warm!

Anyway, I have all these lovely Spring-y things I've thrifted and nowhere to wear them (yet!). First up, this new cardigan and skirt:
The skirt is almost a neon coral - it's a linen and nylon blend, so it feels luxurious but doesn't crease! It was all of $5 in the thrift shop a few weeks ago. I vaguely recall that coral is an "it" colour this Spring, so woo!

The cardigan is also new-to-me - it was around $18 on consignment.
I love the big ruffles on it.

The blouse is one I've had for years - last seen here. Ha, I always wear the same accessories with it!

I can't wait to start building some new outfits for my new job...I have my clothes already selected for My First Day tomorrow, but how about a game? Let's see who guesses the closest to what I'll actually wear. Here's a poll - you can pick more than one item.

The stuff:
Lovely orangey-yellowy shoes. The buckle on the belt that came with the skirt is actually made out of bamboo!

A close-up:
I usually toss these belts, but I am going to keep that one. You never know when I might need to go on safari.

We donated a huge amount of stuff to charity lately. Inigo is very happy that he has his box back:
Lovey eyes!

Cardigan (American Rag Cie, consigment), blouse (I.N.C.), skirt (Rocket, thrifted), shoes (Tsubo "Erebus"), cuff (thrifted), earrings (Foxy).

Not Feelin' the Love - Coral and Pattern

Edit: I just realized a day later that I forgot to title this post. D'oh!

I've been trying to wear stuff I haven't worn for a while, rather than always wanting to wear new (to me) things. This skirt and thin sweater are two things that I used to wear a lot.

I think I am tired of them.

Inigo was standing right beside me a second before the camera went off, which is why my pose is odd. But I'm too lazy to take another picture.

The stuff:
Love the shoes, "meh" on the jewelry.

Is it Friday yet?

Sweater (Esprit), skirt (Vero Moda), belt (Bianca Nygaard), shoes (Qutie), necklace & earrings (Caracol).

Black and Coral, but It's All About the Quads

I had two things I had to factor in when planning today's outfit: I had to go to the dentist and my quad muscle is still sore.

For the dentist, pants. Nothing like being tipped upside down in a skirt. As it turns out, my clothing was the last thing on my mind as I sat through an hour of scaling (go to the dentist more frequently than me, kids) on only one quadrant of my mouth. See, quadrant, get it?
And my sore quad muscle on my right leg meant I dug out the "sensible" shoes. Of course, sensible for me is different than sensible for most people. For me, it means NOT a four-inch heel. Just a three-inch. Not so bad. And I did wear my Vans for walking anywhere further than desk to copy room.

Stuff:
Haven't worn these shoes for a while. I've been procrastinating (me?? no!) cleaning out the closet and hauling out my summer shoes, and have just been digging them out willy-nilly. I got these in NYC with Mom 2 years ago. *smile*

Anyway, I have two more dentist appointments next week. Excuse me while I go self-medicate with some wine.

Almost Friday!

Wrap t-shirt (InWear), grey cami (RW & Co.), striped pants (Calvin Klein, consignment), bracelet (silent auction), earrings (The Cobbler), shoes (Unisa).

Wardrobe Challenge Week: Day 5 - Casual Friday

The final day! I'm a little late in posting this up, but it's been a busy weekend, going to Christmas events, lunch out, shopping and having some couple time with L.

I had planned to do a denim vest with this outfit, as my one piece of denim for Casual Friday at work, but I felt like mixing it up a bit, so instead, I went with this jean blazer. I was pleased with the look overall.

Here's the look:
I wore my purple trenchcoat and carried my Betsyville bag today (only used once all week), since I allow myself to bus to work on Fridays (oh, the luxury!):
Here are the pieces:
The purple trench

The Betsyville bag
The coral sweater

The plaid pants

The gold shoes
The brown belt
The brown/gold necklace
The gold earrings

The jacket really made it feel like I hadn't done this what felt like a million times already this week!

Jacket (Bisou Bisou, consignment), sweater (Esprit), pants (Vero Moda), shoes (Naturalizer), belt (Plum), necklace (Plum), earrings (gift), trench (London Fog), bag (Betsyville by Betsy Johnson).

Wardrobe Challenge Week - Day 3

I am starting to get sick of this belt. And these accessories. And the shoes.

I'm still good with the clothes, but am predicting that as of Friday, I will be quite thoroughly tired of everything I've worn all week.

Anyway, today!

This is the brown dress that I wore out for dinner the other night, only worn to look like a skirt, with the coral sweater over top. Comfy and it looks all right. I'm starting to crave other colours...and black!

The pieces:
Boots!
The Dreaded Belt, which is making an appearance one more time.
The brown/gold necklace.
I never really get tired of gold hoops. My really big ones used to be a signature thing for me - I wore them with everything.
The brown dress. A lovely dress - it will be great for traveling. Worth the $24.

And the coral sweater. Great colour.
Dress (no tag, consignment), sweater (Esprit), belt (Plum), boots (Roberto Vianni), necklace (Plum), earrings (gift).

Coral Brights

Grey cotton jacket (RW & Co), coral cotton sweater (Esprit), patterned skirt (Vero Moda, Plum), capiz & black wood necklace, crystal stud earrings, black pointy-toe kitten heels (Kenneth Cole Reaction, gift from Cat).
My calf and ankle are still quite sore, so low heels for me this week. This is a good outfit, nothing terribly special about it. I wore it with the jacket off for most of the day (the air conditioning in my office is rather erratic).

I got this jacket at RW some time ago (not a year, probably last fall?) - it was on the clearance rack for around $29.99. It's a great dark grey and fits just right - it "locks and loads" well around my bust. It's been a really useful jacket for both work and casual - love it with jeans.

I dyed my hair yesterday, so all the blonde is gone. Funny, it looks so dull now, but the highlighting really dries the ends out, so I only do it every other time I colour. My hair is getting so shaggy - it's driving me nuts. I've had it in the pixie cut for almost a year, and it's just time to grow it out again. I'll end up with the "old lady" short hair eventually, so I want to have longer hair while I still can get away with it. I'll never have really long hair ever again, but just to have it to my shoulders again would be nice. We'll see how it is by Christmas.

Casual Friday - Winners Week Dress & Shoes

Coral, brown & cream print sleeveless shirt dress (Connections, Winners), jean jacket (Ann Taylor Loft, NYC), dark brown/black mules with beads (Naturalizer, Winners), big-ass gold hoop earrings.
This is such a pretty dress - I love the fit through the bodice and waist, especially. The jean jacket is so that it goes casual for work (otherwise it's a bit too dressy), and the low-heel wedge mules are total comfort. Here's a shot of the dress alone:
It's a little on the long side, but I like that for summer. It has nice details: the "sash" tie waist is actually attached to the dress (only the front where it ties is not sewn down) and is ruched very prettily, and it has capiz shell buttons instead of the standard plastic. It also buttons all the way down to the knee, and is fully lined. It was about $45.00.

One of my goals at Winners was to find a pair of sandals that I could bum around in all summer. I wanted leather, a bit dressy looking, but comfortable. These were perfect. They rubbed my toes a bit (where the beading section is), but I trimmed them with the scissors.
And now...off to hang with my girls! Wine!

Sunday Brunch

Black tie cardigan (Vero Moda, Plum), coral t-shirt (Kensie, Dots), patterned skirt (Vero Moda), silver sling-backs (Century 21, NYC), white gold hoop earrings.
Greg and Roseanna and Mika were over from Vancouver for a visit, so we met up with them for brunch today. I like dressing up for brunch, and it's still fairly warm out. This is a nice summery outfit.

Lots of Colour!

I'm just so anxious for spring - it seems to be taking forever - that I couldn't resist some really vivid colour today.

Grey cotton jacket (RW & Co.), coral cotton sweater (Esprit), satin poufy skirt with abstract flowers (Mexx, Dots), turquoise suede pumps with flower (Le Chateau), black leather belt (Plum), copper and enamel clip-on earrings ("Matisse" by Renoir, Grandma J's).

Mucking about with the timer for this picture. Man, it's weird taking all these pictures of myself. I realize how much I look like my mom (a good thing!).

This is the skirt I got when I went shopping with Ruth - it's so pretty and light. Love the pockets (they're nice and deep too), and it has so many colours in it! I had this outfit on with a green t-shirt and it looked nice, but the weather is still chilly so I went with the sweater. This is the 2nd sweater of this sweater I have had - yes, again, this and the striped skirt - only this time I spilled red wine down the front of the first one. I thought I got most of the stain out before it hit the washer and dryer, but missed some (in my defense, I had drunk a lot of said wine). Great colour sweater for me. Love the shoes.

My feet are all veiny from walking home, ha! The shape of these shoes is very '30s/'40s - they make me think of Mae West (one of my idols). And real suede! From Le Chateau! I call these my Tammy shoes, because Tammy at work had them in black.

The earrings are part of my Grandma J. collection. She gave me a lot of gorgeous costume jewelry pieces from the 50s when I was in my 20s, then I got to pick what I wanted after she died. I remember her wearing these - and she wore them a lot - they have wear patterns on the copper from rubbing her skin. She had curly red (dyed, like me) hair and these totally suited her colouring.

I love wearing her pieces - I think of her everytime I wear them.
