Weekend Wrap-Up: Sleeves Redone, and the Limbo Sale

Welcome back, my friends! Just a quick wrap-up of my weekend - I've got Saturday brunch, the Sunday Limbo Sale, and lots of kitten pictures, as they are loving the warm sun on the deck.
For whatever reason, the Stair Pic turned out very dark. It's Ultimate Frisbee season again, and although I no longer play, I wasn't ready for the timing in the morning, and had to rush my hair, make-up and pictures.

  • Puffy vest - Zara, consignment; last seen here in June 2025 for a Mom-Day at Elk Lake
  • T-shirt - JJ Wilde tour merch 2023, not tracked
  • Blouse - WoWo, consignment, Vancouver; first worn here just a few days ago
  • Pants - Akris Punto, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in August 2025 for Nick's 65th birthday
  • Patent leather shoes - Karl Lagerfeld; last worn here in August 2025 with blue and orange

I much preferred the layered tee over this floofy blouse. Its wideness didn't work as well with a top layered under it, but I really like how giant the sleeves look this way.
Anne Shirley would be proud! I also was determined to wear this cropped neon orange vest and chose my tee based on the oranges in it.

Barnabas "helped" me - he comes running when he hears the camera beep!
"I see people!"

I adore these cropped trousers - they are the perfect length on me.

L and I drove down to John's Place and met up with Nick and Jay for lunch, then did a much-needed grocery shop after that.
"And then you napped on the deck with me."

I may have lain in the sun for a bit! Now that it's sunny, I am champing at the bit to get back to decorating some more leather, so I did some research and looked at pictures to inspire me. It's time for a new Art Project!

The stuff:
I can't bear to let these yellow flats go! They are still hanging on after 9 years(!) but are getting worn out.

  • Leather purse - Aimee Kestenberg, thrifted, Powell River

Bold bling:
This necklace perfectly matched the greyish brown in the tee's image. I realized after we got home that I'd left the price tag on it all day, ha ha.

  • Yellow cuff - thrifted
  • Leather stud cuff - c. 1996
  • Anneke & Lars silver ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Loopy silver ring - consignment, Sidney
  • Necklace - consignment, Vancouver; purchased here for $25.00
  • Earrings - Justine Clenquet, consignment, gift from L

And now, some kitty pictures.
I open the deck doors for them in the morning (it's chilly overnight), and they both dash for their benches.

Barnabas looking annoyed that the sun has moved on him.
They have very short fur, but these benches are getting rather hairy!

Before I left for work on Friday morning.
"No! Stay home!"        "I'm going to get into your clothes the second you lock that door."

They've been pretty good about the bagged clothes sitting around the house. It's mostly been attention-getting ploys.
And then there's this little goober, completely zonked.

L and I spent Saturday night hanging out, laughing at the boys exploring the bags of clothes and flopping here and there.
"I hunted a price tag!"         "And I knocked all the scarves on the floor."

The morning arrived early - my sale runs from 10am to 4pm. It goes so fast!
Barnabas enjoying the sunshine.

Whateley not wanting to be caught.
"Gotta go!"

More sleeping on the tiles.
Wait till it actually gets warm!

Whateley and Barnabas both helped me set up.
Their post had my slips, half-slips and lingerie/pajamas.

All the $25 shoes lined up on the deck.
I figured since only a few people coming wear my size shoe, it made sense for them to sit out there and enjoy the ambiance.

I also put the two-piece sets out there, which didn't work - no one looked at them.
Ah, well, lesson learned.

Tagged items lined up in neat piles on the perimeter.
These are all the boutique/higher quality items.

Tagged boutique accessories and pants.
I had a dozen people come over 6 hours.

The free pile.
A lot of this went to good homes.

The dining room area - this is the non-tagged area, so prices as listed on the whiteboard.

And then people arrived! They were here from just before 10am until a few minutes past 4pm.

I had a breather around 1pm and took a few pictures of the chaos.
Barnabas and Whateley enjoyed their post being shoved up against the window. They did go after the lights again, so back to the middle the post went when the sale was over.

Messy piles and a kitty in the middle.
Longtime readers will recognize a few things here, I'm sure!

The boutique area all messed up.
After everyone left, I folded it all back up and re-bagged it.

I had five giant bags left over, so that's how much I sold.
It was very successful! I'll be able to shop with my hard-earned money!

Whateley, you were so good.
"I know."

And Barnabas, you charmed everyone and got lots of cuddles.
"I love cuddles!"

And now, off to enjoy the waning hours of the day with L (who was out of the house all day) and my boys. Thanks so much for being here!

  1. Good morning from sunny New York! Seeing pictures of your clothes+ set up for your Limbo Sale reminded me immediately of the Native Plant Sale I went to on Saturday. Like your sale, the plants were arranged on the ground There weren’t individual price tags on each plant, instead each had a colored stick (like a giant popsicle stick) stuck in the soil (similar to the colored dots you use). There were price sheets with colors and prices displayed every few feet, and all the buyer had to do was match a stick color to its price.
Anyway, it was like a Limbo Sale but for plants instead of clothes+ and I came home with 8 plants. If I lived in Victoria… but since that’s not the case I enjoy your sale vicariously! The boys were quite calm and I suspect they get their curiosity sated by the change in routine and the comings and goings of people, plus the scritches. :-) The picture of Whateley on the ledge - such a tightrope walker! - shows off your wonderful view, like being in a park! How’d you fare on the shoes? The boots? And always, yay for brunch with buddies! I’ve enjoyed doing that three times in the past two months, which is three times more than usual. Good to schmooze and relax over food! Cheers, Laurie

  2. Well done with your sales, I bet you can't wait to spend all the proceeds! I'd have loved to have had a rummage through all your treasures especially as we've got the same sized feet!
I'm glad those boys of yours were so helpful. xxx
