Outfit the First!
This wonderful grey leopard skirt was the first thing I reached for from the new-to-me items that I bought off-season.
I picked it up for a pittance during L's birthday week in Sidney.
- Silk/wool sweater - Iris Setlakwe, thrifted; last worn here in March with the my Modeling Skirt
- Skirt - Marc Cain, thrifted, Sidney; purchased here for $4.50
- Boots - Coach, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here (3rd outfit) in April with my Personal Jesus dress
- Coat (below) - Royal Underground, consignment, Powell River; last worn here in May when L and I modeled for Tweed magazine
Yes, you read that right - four dollars and fifty cents. You can't even buy a coffee for that now.
I loved how it sits low at my hips - it stayed put nicely and didn't ride up or spin around or do any of the other bothersome things that skirts do. I paired it with another thrift store purchase, this wool and silk sweater by a Canadian designer.
Note the sheer sleeves - they are silk.

I wasn't sure if I'd need a jacket in the office.
But I ended up just draping it on my chair for the day. Aw, such memories of our photoshoot!

Incognito. The jacket is a thick stretch denim.
I liked how the coffee-colour silk scarf went with the spots on the skirt.

Outfit the Second!
After a busy day at work, I hopped the bus home, fed Vizzini and changed into my theatre outfit. It's a new season at the Belfry Theatre, and now there are 6 of us with season tickets. So fun!
As pondered the first time I wore this dress, I did keep it out for fall/winter.
- Sweater - Sonia Rykiel, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September with a silver mini and a maxi-bomber
- Dress - Uniqlo X Claire Waight Keller, thrifted; first seen here in August
- Shoes - Chanii B; last worn here (2nd outfit) in February with Slytherin greens
- Suede coat (below) - Danier Leather, consignment; purchased here for $250.00
I really liked this styled up with more autumnal pieces.
The top is a very thin knit - I have an additional camisole on under it. I also layered an extra half-slip underneath, which rode up a bit when I walked (it clung to the fishnet tights).
The blue/green dress is a perfect match for the teal shoes. I suspect we'll see them together again.

All done up.
I walked to the Fernwood Inn and met up with the gang for dinner, and walked home afterwards.

- Purse - Arcadia, consignment
- Wool scarf - Metropolitan Museum of Art "Eagle Wing" scarf, King Tut exhibit, 1970s, thrifted, Seattle
The scarf is amazing - it never wrinkles - and it looks great with the suede coat.
The stuff:
Copper bling:
The enameled set is a recent-ish acquisition - it's more modern than most of my copper jewelry.
- Enamel/copper necklace/earrings - DZinz, consignment
- Hinged copper bracelet - thrifted, Sidney
- Copper ball ring - consignment
- Copper/turquoise ring - vintage 50s, Grandma J's
- Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage expo

Nancy wasn't feeling well, so couldn't make it - Ronnie joined us for dinner and took a picture of the Theatre Kids.
"Everyone look posh!"
From left: me, Randall, Yvonne, Cat and Caro.
What a classy bunch! The play was...okay. However, support local theatre and the arts!
Outfit the Third!
Today's outfit features this new-to-me patterned blouse, and I won't keep you in suspense...
It's off to Limbo. Nope, not good enough quality. Didn't like it.
- Sweater vest - thrifted, not tracked
- Blouse - Haver, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
- Suede skirt - Guillaume, vintage 00s, consignment, Powell River; first worn here (3rd outfit) for a birthday party in February
- Shoes - MJUS, consignment; first seen here in September this past weekend with a Kenzo tiger maxi
- Wool jacket (below) - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here (2nd outfit) with my rainbow skirt for a day in Sidney with L
I hadn't originally planned to wear the sweater vest over it, but I quickly realized it Would Not Do and improvised.
I usually wear the cobalt blue sweater as a top. The skirt, however, is marvelously soft and swooshy.
I love the luxe suede, and that split at the front is excellent for walking.

It has a tulip shape (very popular in the early 00s) but it hangs straight.
Can't wait to wear it again!

- Velour gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted
- Brooch - vintage 60s, Mom's
The stuff:
These shoes again! I wanted to give them a bit more of a test to see how they worked in the office. No strap slippage, I'm happy to report.

- Necklace - J. Crew, cosignment
- Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
- Earrings - thrifted
Phew, I'm tired! All caught up now, though, and I hope you enjoyed the first outfits of the season!
It's always exciting to see the clothing back in the closet for a new season. I forgot about a very lovely bow sweater, so it feels like new. Love the first outfit. Grey and brown work perfect together, with black. Gorgeous boots. I think local theatre is important for the community, even if it wasn't that good. It's about meeting other people and supporting of course.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it, Nancy? This is my favourite time of every season, when all of the clothes are waiting to be worn. It's exciting to be reacquainted with old favourites and be reminded of pieces I'd forgotten.
DeleteThank you - I love those boots so much (and they are very "you"). I agree, support local arts, even if it's not always the best. :)
I love the first and second outfits. That first skirt is awesome, definitely one I would wear too. Your styling and details are perfection with it. I also prefer the third outfit with the pank jacket. Lise
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lise! Yes, bummer about the blouse, but they aren't always winners.
DeleteOutfit the first, super skirt! I liked it best all done up with the outer wear as am not a fan of the sweater color and prefer the colors of the jacket and silk scarf. Outfit the second, oh yes! The color, visual interest, swoosh, and comfort for sitting in a theatre, Woohoo! Most wonderful that your theatre group has expanded! I was wishing there was something similar here and then realized there is! We have a theatre in town that we could walk to and after this comment I will scoot to their website and see what’s cooking for this season. They don’t host plays, rather it’s talks, movies and concerts.
ReplyDeleteOutfit the third, I love the vest (there must be tens of comments from me sharing my love of this color throughout your blog!), PANK jacket and scarf. This combo plays nice together :) with the sophistication of the skirt and it’s walking slit, fish nets and shoes, which have me thinking of Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.
Cheers, Laurie
Thank you, Laurie! Ha, if we all had the same taste, how boring would that be? I loved the swooshy green dress for the theatre - being comfortable sitting for all that time is always a priority in my theatre-going outfits. How cool that you have something similar locally you could support!
DeleteI'm sure there must be - but cobalt blue is such a good colour. It's one of those ones that everyone looks good in. I love the vibe you got from that outfit! <3
So much to love here! The first outfit is a winning combo and that skirt is a truly fabulous piece.
ReplyDeleteYour colours of your theatre-going outfit is making my heart sing and I am swooning over that orange suede coat.
Such a shame the quality of that blouse in your third fit isn't up to scratch, as its print is absolutely gorgeous. Wearing it with the cobalt blue sweater on top was an inspired idea, though. xxx
Thank you, dear Ann! The coat is everything to me right now - I'm completely infatuated. I know, disappointed in the blouse, and in myself, since I just culled a bunch of similar silk (i.e. better quality) blouses than this. I need to just stop buying them!
DeleteOOOh, nice you went to the theatre! I am going next week to see Pride and Prejudice- sort of! My friend Naomi is playing Lizzie Bennett! I haven't seen her for SUCH a long time so I am happy to see her.
ReplyDeleteYour three outfits are so pretty. I love the new BARGAAAAAAAIN skirt and the sleeves on the accompanying jumper are great. The second outfit is lovely- great colours. The third one is majestic too!
kxx
Oh, that sounds like fun, Kezzie, and how cool that you know someone in it! Thank you - I know, what a bargain on that skirt, eh?
DeleteThat first outfit is lovely, those boots make me jealous every time I see them! xxx
ReplyDeleteThey are rather fabulous, aren't they? Thank you!
DeleteThe leopard skirt is stunning...and you wear it so well.
ReplyDeleteI do like the outfit with the maxi as well. Very feminine and chic.
The cobalt blue and black outfit is very pretty, too!
Thank you, Ivana!
