Today featured an adventure - my office's Social Committee coordinated a walk in Beacon Hill Park, followed by a treat at the infamous Beacon Drive-In.
I could not resist the allure of a soft-serve ice cream cone, and a stroll in nature with a few of my lovely coworkers.
- Jacket - Adidas, consignment; last seen here with these same shoes earlier this month
- Top - Theory, thrifted; last worn here in April with black, white and pink
- Skirt - Hunkon, consignment; last seen here in August 2023 when Mom and I hit "publish" on her Storyworth book
- Sneakers - Soul Speed Duesy, Fluevog; first worn here with this jacket a few weeks ago
I repeated the formula from when I first wore these chunky red sneakers - a fun skirt plus the bookend of this cropped jacket.
Showing my "Safety First" approach to long skirts. Just grab 'em!
I enjoyed swooshing about.
My colleague Keith had a massive flashback to his childhood when he spotted my jacket. "I had that Adidas tracksuit!"We had a wee reminisce about Stuff We Had As Kids.
I'm wearing the skirt backwards, as I like to have the ducks and giant dragonfly where I can see them.

I had to take the jacket off a few times - we had temps over 26 today.
I also tied the jacket around my waist at one point. Sweaty! Incognito.
I walked to work like this, and hopped the bus home after I'd gobbled down my ice cream cone. It was amazing, but oof, my lactose-unfriendly stomach was unhappy. Worth it!
Accoutrements and stuff:
These shoes still rubbed one foot, and even wearing thin socks, I had to bandaid mid-day. They are thick leather, so I'm hoping they will keep loosening up.
- Silver studded Lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
- Crystal heart bracelet - Juicy Couture, consignment
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
- Silver/red enamel ring - antique shop, Sidney
- Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
- Sterling earrings - consignment; purchased here for $26.00
I took a few phone pictures - excuse the quality.
It was hot and breezy and there were loads of ducks, herons, squirrels and peacocks around the park. I strolled with my colleague Wilma and skipped the scavenger hunt in favour of a walk near the petting zoo.Her pup Hamish was fascinated with the rock & roll chicken.
This peacock was totally posing.
So handsome.
Chuckling as my favorite piece is possibly the simplest - the sleeveless top. I would have given up on the sneakers by this point as am fussy about keeping my feet happy with minimal intervention required.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating that your company has a Social Committee. They chose a perfect outing - I always prefer outdoors to something like a cocktail party where I find it difficult to have conversations due to the nature of a cocktail party.
Cheers, Laurie
What a perfect company outing, and on such a fine day too!
ReplyDeleteLoving the juxtaposition of the sporty Adidas jacket and sneakers with the more feminine pleated skirt. xxx
I love the print on that maxi skirt...it reminds me of the nineties somehow.
ReplyDeleteThe red sneakers are very pretty, too. Such a lovely outfit! Perfect for a walk in the park.
Sounds lovely. What a beautiful peacock! Those birds are amazing!
ReplyDeleteLoving the sporty look. It's a shame those trainers are rubbing you. They look insanely comfortable. Hoping they loosen up for you.
ReplyDeleteAren't peacocks fabulous?
