Do not adjust your screen! I am indeed wearing all neutrals.
And I'm totally okay with that!- Jacket - Julie Haus, thrifted; purchased here for $34.95
- Sleeveless sweater (underneath) - Dana Buchman, thrifted; last seen here in December 2016 with Helmut and Avon
- Skirt - Gunex, thrifted; last worn here in October 2016 with orange brocade
- Shoes - Matisse; last seen here in August with a whale of a sweater
- Raincoat (below) - Thermal-Slicks, consignment; last worn a couple of weeks ago here
Do you remember when I was so challenged by neutrals that I did two full months of them? Just for fun, here's November 2012's recap of my all-neutral month during my year-long 30-items-for-30-days challenge.
There was also a time that I would never "surrender the waist" and not always dress in the most absolutely flattering way according how women are "supposed to" look. I'm not against dressing to show off my figure, but it's not always how I want to present myself. Sometimes I want to wear things that are a little off, a bit shapeless or more challenging to the eye.
But enough of my pontificating, let's talk clothes! This jacket was all kinds of awesome to wear today and I am now totally spoiled by wearing silk-lined wool - it breathed so wonderfully!
I undid a bit of the back zipper so that the full, stiff (yet swooshy) skirt could move - this is my infamous "bark" skirt - it's perma-textured to be crinkled. I wore a full vintage slip under this as well.
Oh, it rained today. I got soaked both ways going to and from work, but the worst of it was prevented by my PINK raincoat here. I was also super-visible in the gloom - safety first!
I wore the hood done up fully, right around my face. My hair stayed dry! And not a bit of me that was covered by coat got wet - the bark skirt was soaked from the coat-line down (it's drying now). Of course, I'm not wearing my good shoes out in this - my white floral Doc Martens get worn in this weather - they are totally waterproof.
The stuff:
I wore plain ol' neutral nylons, all the better to show off these marvelous shoes. My feet are very happy with me. Must wear heels tomorrow, ha ha!
Gold bling:
I considered doing a necklace with this outfit, but it fought too much with the jacket neckline. Bracelets and finger-candy instead.
- Chain/leather bracelet - thrifted
- Gold cuff - thrifted
- Snakeskin "Gucci" bangle - gift from Mom and Dad, c. 1987, Italy
- Floral ring - Sarah Coventry, vintage 70s, Powell River antique shop
- Amber ring - c. 1997
- Earrings - Weiss, vintage 60s, vintage fair
Allow me to sum up how I feel about the weather.
Indeed!
I love your potty-mouthed sock collection!
ReplyDeleteHee, me too, JS! Thanks!
DeleteSuper cute raincoat!!!! I need to be on the lookout for one :D
ReplyDeleteCute AND useful! That's a win!
DeleteOh, that jacket is WONDERFUL! You look great in this outfit. Love the socks, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty cool, isn't it? I really loved it. Thank you, Radostin! So good to see you.
DeleteHa I love those socks! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like your neutral outfit. Sometimes I feel I look a bit boring in neutrals - but your mix of textures is anything but boring! :)
They're awesome, aren't they? I think texture is the key to making neutrals work - they have to have some visual interest or they're just blah. Thanks, Mica!
DeleteI'm in love with this jacket, such a fabulous cut, it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteYou've created a fab outfit, with lots of interesting textures and details, and a pair of stunning shoes; every piece is cool but they rock together!.
besos
(those socks ;DDDDD)
Thank you so much, hon. It's a wonderful cut - just amazing to wear. Aw, thank you, I'm so glad you like it. Hee, the socks are the best!
DeleteHaha I had to smile at the socks and I love the blazer - cool piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lorena!
DeleteOh dear this does nothing for me. I don't mind a touch of neutral here and there but I fear your personality isn't shining through here at all Sheila. Thank goodness for that pop of pink otherwise I really wouldn't have known it was you!
ReplyDeleteAnna x
PS the jacket is totally fab, but add a bright leather pencil skirt next time so that I can give it a fair review. Sorry!
That's cool, Anna! We don't always like every outfit that someone does. *I* liked this (a lot) and I'm the one wearing it. I'll definitely be doing this jacket again with another bottom! I think this is an outfit that doesn't quite come across in pictures.
