Darth Vest, Blue Suede Trousers and Enraging Coat

Another closet play-time outfit incorporating not one but TWO new-to-me items.
I usually do not allow such shenanigans, as I believe my clothes have to learn to get along with the ones already in my wardrobe.

  • Vest - Marla Wynne, consignment; purchased here for $62.00
  • Silk blouse - Wilfred, consignment; last seen here in November 2023 with black leather
  • Suede pants - Neto, vintage 90s, thrifted; purchased here for $49.99
  • Shoes - Super Fine Cardinal, Fluevog; last worn here in June with mixed metals

But I made an exception to add my newest "Darth" piece of clothing, this long crinkly-textured black vest.
If you search on my blog for "Darth" you'll find a mix of vests, long dusters and swooshy things.
Darth Sheila probably started with my old Armani silk duster - enjoy a glorious Darth moment here from July 2019 - which I moved along in the last year.

When I spotted this long vest, it called to me - I could think of so many ways to wear it!
I'd already paired up my mustard silk blouse with its swooping and swirling abstract murmurations with these thrifted suede trousers.

But the outfit needed a topper, something to tie it all together.
Ergo, vest. I did swoosh this around at my colleagues and took great glee in feeling it billow out behind me while I went downstairs.

Without - I took it off to go to the bathroom! It's no fun dunking your Darth garments in the toilet.
I absolutely loved the suede pants. They were soft and I love the rich blue colour. The hems are a little long, so I tucked them into my socks for my walk home in the misty rain. So KLASSY, Sheila!

Coated. I became enraged with this PVC snakeskin coat over the day. It looks great like this.
I'm so cool, right? But I carry a backpack and I walk fast. I have no time for this louche poser stuff in real life.

Incognito.
The coat also DOES NOT HAVE BUTTONS. No zipper, no snaps, NOTHING. It relies on sheer force of will to hold it closed. As I strode, it worked its way open - arg! It's also very sweaty-making but also not warm to wear at all. Off to Limbo - BEGONE!

The stuff:
These have been one of my best shoe purchases of the past 5 years - they are comfy as heck and go with everything!

Brass bling:
I am so happy to have all these wonderful pieces back in my accessory wardrobe.

  • Belt - thrifted
  • Brass/glass necklace/Ring - Rafael Canada, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Leather/brass cuff - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Brass ring bracelet - consignment
  • Brass Brutalist ring - vintage mall
  • Earrings - vintage mall

  1. I like how the round part of the big brass necklace meshes with the round parts of the belt! The top and pants enhance one another and the color of the suede pants is that amazing blue I adore. Be gone unsatisfactory coat! Your overall commentary has me quietly laughing (Fred is still asleep; I’m an early riser.) As it is now Wednesday morning my comment from yesterday holds true: Happy Birthday to you! Here’s to Thai dinner and celebrating!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Thank you, Laurie! I was happy with the outfit aside from that horrid jacket. How did it last that long with me? Thank you, my dear friend!

  4. Hello Darth Sheila! What a magnificent outfit, and I can just about see you swanning around the office in it. What a shame about the coat though :-( xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Ann! Yeah, it is a drag, but that coat had been annoying me for a couple of years. Time to let it go!
