I started with this new-to-me jacket which is NOT FOR ME. Oh dear.
I really did not like it at all - it's just the wrong shape for me. I should know this! This era's (2008-9) jackets never quite suited me.

- Jacket - Nygard, consignment; purchased here for $43.00
- Sweater - Bartolini, consignment; last seen here in March for a Mom-Day in mixed plaids
- Jeans - Everlane, thrifted; last worn here in October with Welsh wool for Mom-Day
- Shoes - Groovy Aubrey, Fluevog; last seen here (2nd outfit) earlier this month for brunch
Don't suggest I unbelt it - it's even worse. I was seduced by the textile! I also had a tough time styling it - when I end up with my white jeans, that means nothing else really worked.
Let's just all be happy that the jacket is going to Limbo and let it go. It's an excellent piece, so I'll move it along to someone who looks amazing in it. Incognito. See? The outfit looks so much better when you can't see the jacket.
Barnabas concurs! Thanks, little B.
Ah, well, I did try.
Everything else was good - the jeans are thick and flappy, and I loved my bits of orange and copper.
The stuff:
That scarf is so mid-century - it goes well with the copper.
- Scarf - vintage, thrifted
- Gloves - Parkhurst
- Eelskin belt - Yves St. Laurent, vintage 80s, thrifted
- Enamel/copper brooch - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
I'm always happy in copper.
- Vintage 8s bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, consignment, Seattle
- Thin copper bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, thrifted
- Hinged copper bracelet - vintage 60s, thrifted, Sidney
- Copper ball ring - vintage, consignment
- Brass/jade ring - 1970s, Mom's
- Stone ring - thrifted
- Copper necklace/earrings - vintage 50s, Grandma J's
It resembles a bird's head this way, but I think it's supposed to look like a leaf.
- Copper brooch - vintage, thrifted
No kitty pictures today, sorry!

I totally understand you were appealed by that groovy geometric pattern. And totally understand that finally that shape was not your thing (second hand clothes can be tricky!, I have my own forbidden decades!).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's a lovely outfit, beautiful colours and accessories, and gorgeous copper jewellery, wow!. Looking fab in those shoes!
besos
Ah copper, yes, it soothes even when simply looking at it online. :-) As for the jacket, understood and will leave it at that because I completely get it. Someone will be appreciative of it when they purchase it at a Limbo Sale, and you will have provided them with a piece they may not have seen otherwise. Cheers, Laurie
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the jacket. It has such neat fabric, too. Maybe it will be right for someone when you have your next sale. It's fine partially hidden, and the orange and copper look great. I love that scarf, too.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you bought that jacket, the weave is fabulous. It's a shame the cut doesn't work but I'm sure you'll be able to move it along o one of your stylish pals! Love the copper jeweller. xxx.
