I discovered that this new jacket - just purchased! - was covered in snags when I went to put it on in the morning. What the heck?
- Jacket - FDJ; purchased here at Dots on the weekend for $31.99
- Paillette vest - Nygard, thrifted; last worn here in December 2024 with my Tweed cover skirt
- Blouse - COS, thrifted; last seen here in June with lace-print jeans
- Tulle skirt - Adidas, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in May on Halston Ultrasuede Dress Day 6
- Floofy underskirt - Luc Fontaine, thrifted; last seen here under my houndstooth Kate Spade skirt earlier this month
- Sandals - Aerosoles, consignment; first worn here in July with white jeans for a trip to the periodontist
- Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here a couple of weeks ago
Turns out, the kittens have discovered "climbing" my clothes. Nothing was unsalvageable, so I just snipped all the loops off and pulled it back into shape. Sigh. I can't leave things out!
I knew that I'd be wearing this blazer with my Weird Adidas tulle skirt. Easy choice.
You'll notice that my tights have something down the back.
Not just a seam, Calvin Klein! The tights are black with light grey inside - they look very grey here, but they are black.
Back to the outfit - I wore the jacket off and on throughout the day. The back of this sparkly disco pailletted knit top is plain black, so I don't like it exposed that much.
I layered this peplum top under it - I liked how the longer back hung down below the jacket's hem in the rear view. Outerwear. L had to put my coat away last night as he found two little kittens CLIMBING it.
Oh, my boys, you are very naughty!

The stuff:
As Janet and I were leaving Zambri's, one of the staff admired my matching blues. Even my Colquitz Blue Devils pin!

- Scarf - Vera, vintage, Mom's
- Hat - thrifted
- Gloves - thrifted
I liked wearing my silver sandals - I felt very fashion-y!
Sparkly bling:
You know I'll be wearing more and more as we get into the Silly Season. - Lucite/crystal bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
- Silver S bracelet - Mexican, consignment, Sidney
- Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
- Silver loopy ring - Mexican, Sidney
- Brooch - Eaton's, c. 1999
- Jet/crystal necklace - Grandma J's, vintage 50s
- Earrings - thrifted
Whateley going full flop last night. You can see that one back leg is a blur - he was dreaming and it was twitching away. Probably dreaming of climbing my clothes...
You can just see Barnabas sleeping on the left.

Oh yes kittens and clothes .. my boy is currently in button chewing mode. Fortunately most of my clothes are second hand so whatever. :). Rgds Lise
ReplyDeleteNot super thrilled about this stage, but I'll keep my clothes out of their way! Yes, I agree, most of my stuff is secondhand too, but it's still frustrating when they shred them!
DeleteI love the CK tights. Gorgeous outfit altogether. The pattern coat is gorgeous and ties everything together nicely. I spend time with a cat that is a climber, and sometimes it gets in the way of fashion, but I still love him so much.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ivana - they were only $4 thrifted! Aw, thank you - I really liked this look.
DeleteAgreed, I still love the kitties, but I'll be protecting my clothes from them going forward.
Oh my goodness! I'm so glad Bess's kittenhood was a thing of the past when we adopted her. Apart from a couple of blankets and throws, and a nearly expired pair of curtains, she never snagged anything. I'm glad you were able to salvage that jacket and that L. found them climbing your coat so that he could put it out of harm's way!
ReplyDeleteThat said, your outfit is fantastic! Those Calvin Klein tights are everything! Oh, and Whateley going to full flop is absolutely adorable! xxx
The kittens have been well-behaved aside from that - and the coat is already rather snagged just from regular wear, Ann. No harm done.
DeleteAw, thank you! Isn't he the funniest?
My grandmother, a talented seamstress, taught me a snag remedy. Grab one of those “needle threaders” (thin circular aluminum pieces with a looped, folded steel wire inserted) that used to be in every sewing kit, and from the back side of the garment, push the wire loop of the threader thru the cloth closest to the snag. Feed the thread of the snag thru the loop of the threader on the right side of the garment, and then pull the loop and snag thru to the wrong side of the fabric. Presto. Like a big, slow sewing machine, haha. Thank you grandma, for teaching me useful things! ReaderRita
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip!
DeleteYes! And pretty much a necessity when you have furry friends! So glad she taught me. (Wish I had paid more attention to the actual tailoring/sewing stuff she tried to teach me- I still struggle with that. I remember the pretty stuff though! I can do some crewelwork/embroidery!) ReaderRita
DeleteRita, that is an awesome tip! The coat is fine, but the blazer is lined, so I can't get at the back of the fabric. I just snipped the snags off (fine on a weave). Embroidery is a good skill!
DeletePS, love the pairing of the new (now laddered) jacket with the skirt! And paillettes! And kittens! -RR
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat is such a great outfit, it all works together really well. I'm chuckling, imagining the kittens climbing your coat.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd seen them! It would have been a hilarious picture!
DeleteLove everything, especially the seamed tights. I'm imagining how good your chili tastes and may have to cross the country to try it sometime. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you come out here, I'll make a spicy batch for you, Ally! Thanks so much!
DeleteCoat Climbing Cats Cuddle up Cutely for Forgiveness! Surely there must be one coat in your Limbo pile that can become a dedicated cat climbing coat. ;-)
ReplyDeleteFirst thought upon seeing today’s outfit – LOVE the silver of the top and the silver of the sandals. Silver Bookends! And grrrr on the plain back of the top.
Typing this comment on Thursday the 27th and believe that you are home today enjoying Thanksgiving football in the States! We head to Fred’s oldest brother’s & his spouse for a gathering with their daughter, Fred's sister & her spouse and their son. Planning on taking some walking thanks to sunshine (and wind!) and what will likely be needed breaks between food!
Cheers, Laurie
Ha ha, I don't want to encourage them, Laurie, shush!
DeleteI know, the plain back...but I nearly always wear this vest with a blazer, so eh, not going to get too excited about the lack of paillettes on the back.
Yes, hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving with all the assorted family! Enjoy the walks!
Oooh dear, they like coat climbing!!! How will they cope with a Christmas tree????
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is sparklicious! The vest shimmers gorgeously!!!x
I'm not putting my trees or decorations up this year, Kezzie - I'll either wait till next year (or the year after). I value my decorations too much to leave them alone at home for 9 hours a day!
DeleteThank you!
Oh no, what naughty boys - you'd never think so by looking at them!
ReplyDeleteI bet Janet was well impressed by your festive sparkle! xxx
I know, little angels they are not!
DeleteHa, Janet knows me - she barely blinked.
What a shame of such a good jacket. I once lived in a damp house when I first moved to Amsterdam. To avoid my shoes and boots becoming moldy, I left them in the open (corridor). One morning I swung my feet out of my car and saw the that the nose of one of my boots had several holes in it. Teeth marks. It was a good thing I wasn't home.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Oh, the coat is fine, as is the blazer - a few snips of the scissors and you wouldn't know.
DeleteHa, teeth marks!
