Sparkly Yellow Armour

Welcome back to the rat-race (aka work), my friends! I had nearly 300 emails to deal with, and it took most of the day to get to a point where I was ready to take them on. Arg. Better armour up!
Anticipating that it would be a rough day, I covered myself in yellow. Look out - yellow means you should probably avoid me.

  • Beaded wool top - Lady Gaye, vintage 60s, thrifted; first seen here in October 2024 with orange Boss Pants
  • Trousers - Banana Republic, consignment; purchased here for $40.00
  • Shoes - Chloe Quincy, consignment; first seen here in May with those orange Boss Pants again!

I paired this vintage top with my new-to-me trousers as the colours were so good together.
I added orange and gold accessories and the cream loafers to pick up the pattern.

However, I'm not feeling this top - it was scratchy and this vintage style doesn't inspire me - so off to Limbo it goes.
I paid less than $20 for it and wore it twice, so I'm fine with that.

The pants were awesome! But that paper-bag waist didn't work with the top at all.
I felt like I was missing "the good stuff" hiding under the top. I wouldn't tuck this top in, and paper-bag waists really need to be shown.

Oh well, at least I had pockets!
I'm laughing at how tired I look in these pictures, eyes barely open.

Incognito - it was another hot day.
I didn't have a light coat that would work with this, so I tied the ends of this pashmina together to make "cuffs" and wore it that way to keep the sun off my arms.

Accoutrements and stuff:
For those of you who preferred the loafers to be "heels up", I wore them this way all day - totally comfortable! It's like two pairs of shoes in one!

  • Pashmina - gift from Mom, Italy
  • Snakeskin belt - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage 80s, thrifted

Matchy bling:
Loved the thumb ring!

  • Orange bangle - consignment, Sidney
  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Orange/gold bangle - thrifted
  • Square ring - sidewalk find
  • Orange plastic ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Brass leopard ring - thrifted
  • Wooden clip-on earrings - vintage fair

  1. Oooh, the Yellow Peril outfit is brilliant! I love the combo but sad that that too gives you the scritches! The loafers look nicer to me that way but I've just seen the clever seam which makes it possible to do that without ruining the back and it's very clever!

    1. Hee, Yellow Peril, love that, thank you, Kezzie! Yeah, the top...I just didn't feel like myself in it. I am falling in love with the loafers.

  2. Three cheers for brilliant yellow pants and bright orange, gold and brass accessories! On this gray NY morning am especially appreciating the colors. :) The pants look like they were custom made to fit your frame; the drape is perfect and the cut is flattering. The top is intriguing because of the pattern (makes it look like you are wearing a necklace) and shimmery material but any item of clothing that irritates the skin is not worth keeping. I’m getting the sense that those loafers are butter soft…mmm, I’ll bet that’s quite a nice feel for your feet. I’m still agog that they are designed to be worn with the backs down or up, definitely makes them versatile.
Hoping your work load is more manageable today!

    1. I loved this colour combo, and glad you did too, Laurie, thank you! I'm a bit sad about the top, but it's in excellent condition so I'll be able to sell it for more than I paid. The loafers are quickly becoming a favourite! Work is always tough for the first day back - a few days is all I need to be back on top of things.

  3. Those trousers fit you so well and you're right, it's a crime to cover up that waistband! I always end up selling those embellished, bejewelled and beaded tops, I can't bear them rubbing my arms and catching my hair although they are fabulous things (yours included!) xxx

    1. Agreed, must do a different top next time! I loved that top, and am glad I gave it a chance - it will sell quickly, I think, especially being in a larger size.

  4. I'm so hearing you, Sheila! I was back at work after a 4-day weekend today, and was facing exactly the same scenario!
Those yellow trousers are fabulous and although the top does look great with it, it is indeed a shame to hide that paperbag waist. I'm sure its next outing will be even better! xxx

    1. Ugh, I feel your pain, Ann (and will be over to catch up soon!). The pants will be worn again soon, I promise!

  5. Ah... got my avatar back. Had to comment with Google.
The yellow trousers are fabulous and so are the shoes. Curious to see what other tops you will combine with these trousers. For me, paper bag trousers don't work as I have a short upper body.

    1. I know, I hate having to log into Google to deal with my blog on my phone - I only do it on desktop.
I'll probably wear more fitted tops that tuck in - slimmer fit to accentuate the fullness of the trousers. Paper bag waists are tricky on me as well, due to big boobs. I know you get that!
