Outside Pockets and Grey Neutrals

I poked around in my closet last night, working on an outfit to bring out the best of this new-to-me white top.
Look at all those neutrals!

  • Mesh bodysuit - Nylon Apparel, consignment; last seen here in March under green satin for St. Paddy's Day
  • White shirt - Luukaa, consignment; purchased here for $34.00
  • Skirt - Club Monaco, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here in July with these same clogs
  • Clogs - Drie VogClog, Fluevog; last seen here in July with this same skirt

I wanted to layer a mesh top under the shirt, and went with my cow/cloud print bodysuit.
Which led me to the grey skirt and clogs (since I've worn them together before).

At some point, I'll layer the white top under a sweater or jacket, but I wanted to show off the back.
Y'all know I love back detail! And that includes the printed seam on my tights with a script "Calvin Klein."

I had fun showing my coworkers the shirt.
"I have pockets on the OUTSIDE!" They were useful for carrying my phone, keys and mp3 player.

Incognito:
I like the scarf over the shirt too!

The stuff:
We're in for a few days of cooler/rainy weather, so I need to start thinking about jackets.

  • Silk scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted

The clogs were excellent again, no issues, and had many fans in the office.

Crystal bling:
I had pulled my black jet/crystal necklace out as well, but it didn't work with the neckline.

  • Silver/Lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Crystal bracelet - Juicy Couture, consignment
  • Silver/onyx spider ring - c. 1986, gift from Mom & Dad
  • Crystal/silver ring - Soul Flower
  • Crystal necklace - thrifted, Vancouver
  • Crystal earrings - thrifted

Wait, something's missing...
My brooch! I played around with this as well - it wasn't quite right.

  • Wood/steel brooch - Aarikka, consignment

And here's Whateley sleeping.
Aw!

  1. Neutrals for a neutral kind of day (at least where I am 28 miles northeast of Manhattan). An alternative style crossed my mind and I suspect it's more my style than yours…to swap the skirt and tights for either flared denim jeans (like I said, more my style ;-)) or else another pair of flared pants other than denim. As an aside, did you once cover the topic of word use when describing clothing? A pair of socks, a pair of pants, a pair of earrings…only two of these contain two items, hence a pair. Why do we call it a 'pair of pants'? Curiously yours, Laurie

    1. It's pretty neutral out here - clouds, chance of rain, mild. Yes, I can see flared pants with it...jeans are not me, so not jeans, though.
Nope, I've never talked about that. Here's a link that explains it: https://www.britannica.com/story/why-do-we-say-a-pair-of-pants

    2. Hmm, thanks for the link. Interesting. Language can be fascinating (as well as annoying!) Cheers, Laurie

  2. A good combo, and I like the clogs with it. I rather like the scarf effect, too, but then I'm a scarf person.
