Snakeprint, Amber and the Boucle Coat

Today was just a regular ol' office day, not very exciting.
I'm working through my closet, making sure I get everything worn.

  • Shirt - Essentiel Antwerp, thrifted; last worn here in June 2025 with a crinkle skirt
  • Vest - Indochino, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2025 for a holiday shop
  • Wool-blend skirt - Diane Von Furstenberg, thrifted; last worn here in September 2025 with a bad wallpaper blazer
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in October 2025 with a spooky blouse
  • Boucle wool and mink coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; purchased here for $26.21

It results in interesting combinations, like by two pieces of snakeskin print with purple.
I have always liked how vests fill in the middle without being as strong as a blazer.

Sometimes you want to show off your printed sleeves!
"Who are you talking to?"

The kittens were tearing around while I was getting ready.

Finally, the new-to-me vintage swing coat!
It had to be cold enough to wear it, and I had to get the proportions right.

I loved wearing it - it was very warm and the pockets were magnificently deep.
I wore a scarf up around my neck as there isn't great coverage there.

It's a totally different shape when I put my hands in my pockets.
It's a much more vivid teal in person.

The stuff:
I thought the scarf was the perfect match.

  • Silk scarf - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Ocelot fur hat - Eaton's Import Salon, vintage, thrifted
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Club Monaco, consignment

Amber bling:
The unexpected colour of amber made me really happy - my colleagues loved it, especially the ant.

  • Amber/gold ant brooch - Russian, consignment
  • Silver/amber necklace - vintage, consignment
  • Thin amber/silver bracelet - consignment, Powell River
  • Large amber/silver bracelet - consignment
  • Giant amber/silver ring - consignment
  • Silver/amber thumb ring - consignment
  • Silver/amber square ring - consignment
  • Silver/amber round ring - Past Times, 2005, gift from L
  • Silver/amber earrings - thrifted

And I have to apologize! I missed cat pictures! Here are some to make you smile.
"I'm sleeping!"

Barnabas sleeps upside down. Such a little weirdo.
"I'm sitting!"

He hung out with me while I wrote.
Such a sweet boy. He's started meowing - a very sharp single "MRAH!"

Whateley snoozed on the stool in my closet.
"It makes me look even more handsome."

It really does!

  3. Barnabas and Whateley are their own Cat TV show. Their commentary is spot on priceless. :-)
AMBER! Am fairly sure you know I’m a fan of your amber jewelry (and copper too!) Your pieces are a warm, soothing blend, evoking cozy moments. Mmmm.
Much praise for your new-to-you swing coat - the teal color, the shape, the length, the deep pockets, the comfort! Enjoy!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. They really are, Laurie! I could just watch them all day. I do feel somewhat bad for painting Barnabas as not being smart - he is a clever boy, for sure.
I love seeing all the chunks of amber. I totally agree.
Isn't it lovely? I am very happy with it, thank you!

  6. Fabulous styling. I love the skirt, the blouse and the vest combo. The vintage coat from the sixties is divine. Aren't such vintage treasures simply precious. You look stunning!
Is this a new hair colour? It looks more bluish than purple.
I wish you all the best in 2026!

    1. Thank you so much, Ivana! This was a nice simple office outfit, and let the coat be the star!
Yes, I went blue a few months ago when I couldn't find my lavender...and then I found 3 boxes of lavender, so I'll be back to purple eventually.
Happy New Year to you! Here's to a better year than the last!
