Teal Pleats and the Completely Impractical Raincoat

I needed a Jammy Dress for my Monday.
Comfy yet gorgeous dress to the rescue!

  • Cotton sweater - Sonia Rykiel, vintage, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) layered in March
  • Dress - Uniqlo X Claire Waight Keller, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2024 to the theatre
  • Shoes - Groovy Aubrey, Fluevog; last seen here in May with my Halston dress
  • "Coat" - Animale, thrifted; last worn here in July 2024

Do you get a teal vibe from this dress? The actual colours are a dark green and navy blue in addition to the flecks of mint.
I love the swoopy hem and it has just the right fullness of pleats.

It was another still-feels-like-spring day, so I layered this thin sweater underneath. I wanted my hair short in back to keep out of my clothes' way.
I like that my ink peeks out, and that you can see all of my necklace.

And it didn't get all squished in the ginormous neckline of the Completely Impractical Raincoat.
Why is it Completely Impractical?
  • Short sleeves
  • Cropped cut
  • Giant collar that doesn't cover the head
  • Two tiny credit-card-sized pockets
  • A shiny-finished 100% cotton textile, very much not waterproof

But I love how goofy it is - and the pockets do function (barely).

The stuff:
I picked my comfy orange Fluevogs to go with the amber balls in my new-to-me silver necklace. My colleague CA admired it.

Silver bling:
The necklace was lovely to wear - I liked the feel of it on.

  • Silver/Lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Silver/malachite bangle - Mexican, thrifted, Sidney
  • Silver/green stone ring - thrifted
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment
  • Silver/glass necklace - vintage 1920s, consignment; purchased here for $151.96
  • Fingerprint earrings - Daisung Kim, MoMA, thrifted

Bonus! I had a deer sighting on my way home.

Hey, you! What are you doing with that bush?
"Eating it."

We pay a gardener good money to maintain those, you know.
"This one's my favourite."

I'm going to have to ask you to move along, sir.
"Yeah, no."

He's bigger than me - I left him alone.

  1. I really like how you styled your dark green maxi dress. I do get teal vibes from it.
The unpractical cropped raincoat is adorable and matches the shoes so well.

  2. I definitely get teal vibes from your dress, but whatever its real colour(s), it's gorgeous and looking very jammy indeed. We're having heatwave temperatures so I cannot even imagine wearing a cotton sweater plus a raincoat - no, not even a completely impractical one!
Totally impressed by the wildlife in your garden! xxx

    1. Oh no, I hope your heatwave breaks soon! Wait till you see my next outfit - two pieces are wool!
I was started by this buck! I saw another one this morning, looking in the front door of an apartment building. They are not fearful of humans!

  3. Love your entire outfit! Yes, I get a teal vibe, also a watery vibe - all due to the colors and pleats. The stones in the rings and bracelets go swimmingly with the dress. :-)
As for the buck…my what big antlers he has…I was expecting to see a "pass the buck" sign along with the parking sign. ;-) (Fred would call that a Mom joke, ahem!)
Polyester Princess I feel your discomfort as we, too, are in a heat wave in NY, though it is expected to break by tomorrow morning, thankfully!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Yes, very much a watery vibe, Laurie!
Ha, no deer signs in my 'hood. The buck is fine but in a couple of months, he'll be wanting to fight for his territory (which is apparently our front yard), and will be much more dangerous. He was out there on Wed night as well.
I hope your heat wave breaks soon - it rained all day here yesterday, but is supposed to go up to 25 by Sunday (that's low 80s).
