Suede Slip-Dress and Ruffles

Well, let's just carry on in this "Zombie Apocalypse (Without Zombies)", shall we? I went to work today!
And I wore an outfit. We had about 10% of our staff onsite today, so it was very quiet, but I was still busy. The day went fast.

  • Blouse - CABi, consignment; last worn here with spooky bling in October 2019
  • Suede dress - Bagatelle, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here for $34.99
  • Shoes - Amante, thrifted; last seen here in January with grey beads and fluff
  • Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last worn here in February

First wearing of this new-to-me slip-dress. It's a lovely thick suede (I think pigskin, as I can see the little dots all over it), and felt wonderful to wear.
I layered this ruffled sheer blouse under it, to take the dress out of Sexy Territory and into Office Appropriate-Land.

Isn't it a lovely fit?
It is slightly loose, but I didn't want it to be really tight - there's no stretch there!

Feeling like the world is falling apart...
But this too shall pass.

Outerwear - I did not need the scarf or gloves on the way home.
It turned out to be a gorgeous day. Very bright and sunny.

  • Scarf - thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Such classic shoes! I stayed near my desk for most of the day anyway.

Bold bling:
First wearing of this POLY necklace that I got in a swap from Vero a couple of months ago.

  • Necklace - POLY, swap from Vero
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Onyx/silver ring - Tocarra, vintage fair

Look at that clear sky we had this morning. The moon is a fat crescent.
The Castle's tower is still swathed in scaffolding. And my seagull friends were back.

Two of them this time, scouting out their nest location. They won't be nesting on our building, as L's been kicking their twigs off the roof.
"I like this spot - it has two levels!"

Stay chill, my friends! If you're feeling stressed, go for a walk in Nature to soothe you.

  1. Thank you Sheila we are in isolation on account of my husbands immune system, so lovely to see your posts, when so many others seem to have slipped away during this apocalypse with out zombies.

  2. Sheila,
Thanks for being a bright spot during these stressful times. I appreciate seeing your efforts. This is a lovely outfit, I wish I could find a slip dress, been looking for awhile. But I don't want it to look like lingerie, your teal suede would be perfect. What a great find!

    1. Aw, thank you, Gerrilyn! I'm glad I can be a little bright beacon in the gloom. I loved this dress - it was really comfy to wear, and just the right amount of coverage. No lingerie here!

  3. The slip dress looks great, sexy but understated with that pretty blouse underneath it.
We had a beautiful day yesterday, even Jon emerged early as the sunshine through the curtains was dazzling him. Doesn't it lift the spirits? xxx

    1. Thanks, Vix! I like the addition of a blouse to make a slip dress not overtly sexy, and appropriate for work (even if the office is empty).

It's been gorgeous here too - at least we can go outside and walk around! It really does lift the spirits, doesn't it?

  4. First let me say that your dress and blouse are just so darn pretty and I think I mentioned before that blue is my favourite colour. Second, I have to say that I look forward to your blog on any given day, but now that so much online is dedicated to bad and depressing news, I am even more eager for your blog - it's an instant uplift!

    Please stay safe and healthy!

    1. Thank you, Nana! This is such a vivid blue/teal, almost a peacock blue-green, dress. Aw, thank you - that means a lot to me. I will continue to blog and give you outfits and good things to look at.

Take care of yourself, my dear. I am taking many precautions, be assured.

  5. Hi, I'm new following your blog. Your fashion always inspires me, especially since it's thrifted, something I need to do more of in our throw-away society. Thanks for the uplifting post when everything seems rather dreary. It's a reminder to carry on! :)

I am all about second-hand clothing and finding new homes for good clothes. I so appreciate your kind comment, and look forward to getting to know you. :)

  6. That frilly blouse looks amazing worn underneath that slip dress, Sheila! That dress is a gorgeous colour and looks very stroke-able too. We had a gorgeous day too, and I went and sat in Antwerp's botanic gardens during lunch break. It felt a bit weird though: the blue sky and gentle Spring sunshine seemed so at odds with the apocalyptic atmosphere. Trying to stay positive. And colourful, which is what I think we owe ourselves! xxx

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! It's a soft dress, but I think it hasn't been worn much, so it will soften even more as I wear it. I'm looking forward to getting outside and enjoying some sun here - it's been lovely the past couple of days. We have to focus on the positive: clothes, colour, nature! Hugs to you!

  13. Beautiful dress Sheila, the idea of layering it with a transparent blouse worked perfectly and I how the ruffly neck falls in place.
