Two-Fer: Circles and Orbs, and Space Pants

I have 30 minutes until my ride arrives for Book Club tonight, so no time to waste!

Here's my outfit from work today.
It's based around this lovely vintage new-to-me jacket, which is navy blue.

  • Orb jacket - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $8.50
  • Sleeveless sweater - Ellen Tracy, swap from Caro; last worn here last week with the olive re-try
  • Skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last seen here in January with a colourful blouse
  • Shoes - Super Fine Cardinal, Fluevog; last worn here (3rd outfit) for theatre with Mom
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in October

The orbs on it are woven into the fabric in a taupey-goldy-pearly thread (it has pearl and gold buttons). As it has no label, it shall henceforth be the Orb jacket so that I can track it.
It had many admirers throughout the day.

Isn't it cool?
I wore it open all day, thusly.

I love the way the neckline sits.
It looks better done up, but there is some boobtacular smushing going on when I do it up.
I'm afraid it'll pop a button and put someone's eye out.

Outerwear - I was ready for rain!
 It did not rain.

  • Hat - Edward Mann, vintage 60s, thrifted
  • Scarf - gift from Mom, Italy
  • Leather gloves - Danier

The stuff:
Love these shoes - they are so comfy.

Circle bling:
I had to go with the orbs in the jacket! I mixed my metals, as I am wont to do.

  • Necklace - Anne Klein, vintage 80s, Grandma J's
  • Bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Gold ring - vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

And a quick change so that I am comfy for lounging around at Book Club, which is being hosted by dear Caro.
Thank you, Daylight "Savings" Time. It's dark out at 5:15!

  • Cardigan - Kenzo, consignment; last worn here over Christmas 2018 several times
  • Top - Jean Paul Gaultier, consignment; last seen here in April under a denim dress
  • Space pants - H&M, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) with a space jacket in September
  • Shoes - Gabor; last seen here (2nd outfit) a couple of weekends ago for brunch

I have a blue cami on under the sheer mesh Jean Paul Gaultier circle-decorated top (carrying on the circle and orb theme).
I'd nearly forgotten about this awesome cardigan. It says "KENZO" on the cuffs (it's written backwards on my right-hand cuff).

It's longer in the front.
Stretchy space pants for sitting about.

Pockets!
Cat's picking me up, so no need for a coat.
Wearing a scarf for neck-warmth, very important. The zipper at the front is half gold and half silver.

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted

I'm ready to discuss "The Battle of Versailles" by Robin Givhan, as presented here in September to my fellow Book Club gals. This was my pick (link here to Goodreads, 'cause I love), and I enjoyed it. I have a pretty good handle on fashion history, so I didn't really learn anything new, but I enjoyed the anecdotal style of the writing. I wish there had been more pictures - I would like to see the documentary about this.

The stuff:
I do love a good slip-on bootie, don't you?

Simple bling:
Kept the ring out from the previous outfit.

  • White gold earrings - Frances Jewelers, 10th anniversary gift from L
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

And...7 minutes to spare! Off to catch my ride!

  4. That jacket is a beauty, it fits perfectly and those shoes are always a joy to behold.
The space pants are magnificent and utterly perfect with those swoonsome boots.
I think I'd love to join a book club, I get so much pleasure reading other people's takes on books I've read, it would be even more fun to discuss them in person.
    Have fun! xxx

  7. Your "boobtacular smushing" remark made me laugh, but isn't that jacket simply divine! I'm loving the orb print, which reminds me of a Summer dress I have, which has a very similar print. Those shoes are pretty fabulous too. I'm also loving your book club outfit. Isn't daylight saving a bore, though. Pah! xxx

    1. Ha, sorry, Ann! It's true, though. Yes, I thought you had something similar. I loathe daylight savings, boo!

  9. OMG I have a couple of jackets that are guilty of that very same offence, but I'm not giving up on them. The orb jacket is splendid, so eye catching in fact, that I completely overlooked those dazzling Fluevogs! Yikes, they're fabulous dahling xxx

  10. wowww, love your Orb Jacket and how fab it looks combined with the skirt and Golden shoes! and amazing accessories!. Totally agree that its neckline is stunning!. And I've laughed reading that you were afraid 'it'll pop a button and put someone's eye out', mwhaha, this has happened to me (frequently!) so many of my jackets have to be worn always undone for safety!
Love your space pants, they rock and look so comfy!. Love your jacket and booties too and the casual vibe!
I've taken notes on this book, so interesting. I watched a documentary about American Fashion which mentioned this event, it looked so thrilling to me!
    besos

    1. Thanks, Monica! I am a sucker for a cool neckline. Ha, yes, safety first when it comes to fashion, right? Ha! The Space Pants are very comfy.

I really enjoyed the book, and you should check out the documentary - it's free on YouTube!

  11. I love your black and silver book club outfit. I'm finding that after I gained weight the past few years my larger boobs make it impossible to wear some of my favourite jackets. I miss my flat-chested days!

    1. Thanks, Shelley! Ha, I've never had flat-chested days, unfortunately.

  12. I don't remember seeing that great black Kenzo blazer before. It's a superb piece.
This is a great item to have around I am surprised I do not see it more often, then I remember you have so many great items!

    1. It's a knit cardigan, actually - I tend to forget I have it as it's folded up, and it requires a fairly casual outfit with it. Yes, that's the "curse" of a big wardrobe! Too many wonderful things to wear, too little time!
